Is this normal?

I took some pics of Cookie a few minutes ago. I want y'all to see her ears. They finally stood up but the very tips flop over backwards. Weirdest thing I've ever seen! She is about 5 months old now and has lost all of her puppy looks.


Flopped ears in reverse! Have you ever seen a dog with ears like this?

She weighs about 30 pounds now.

By the way, last week, I took her to town with me and stopped to get hubby some lunch at a drive-thru. The lady handing me the bag of food dropped the drink because she happened to notice Cookie in the back seat. She freaked out! She said she has "witch eyes" and looked mean. I can't argue that she does have a mean look at times, but she's not mean at all. When she plays, she sounds vicious and that's the only time she ever barks.

Sometimes the tips of Boots' ears will tip and fold backwards and stay like that until I knock em down.

But Cookie's are truly unique! Hilarious and cute though. Love her eyes.

Thanks Great Dane. Cookie's ears will flop forwards and look normal for about 2 seconds and then they are backwards again. We kept thinking they would "fix" themselves as she grew, but they have been like this for quite awhile now.

I get the same "mean" comments about Violet, and did about my first husky, Misty as well.

No idea! My dad gets really upset about comments like that, but I'm kind of used to it. I think it's just kind of shocking to non-dog people to see such bright blue eyes on a dog, especially with the dark eye-liner look. Plus Violet's markings on her eyes make her look "mad" or "evil".

I have no scientific evidence but I'm pretty sure it's because those blue eyes look like they can see into your soul...lol. I think they look cool as hell but they are a bit intimidating. Definitely more so if you're not used to seeing them.

ETA: Cookie's ears are adorable! I have no idea if it's normal but it's definitely cute.

I've seen this happen with chihuahua puppies occasionally. It happens with chi puppies with really strong ear cartilage... the cartilage is so strong it forces the ears to curl backwards. I've never seen an adult dog with this, so I'm assuming once Cookie is finished with teething they'll just be normal pricked ears

I can see how some people would think she looks mean, but I think she just looks stunning and so serious.

The eyeliner, and blue eyes that people don't see often, and the way her forehead wrinkles makes her look so striking

She is darling, and those ears are too! I don't know if they'll stay that way, but if they do that will be SO CUTE.

People think dogs are scary sometimes, but I think Cookie looks like a little love bug.

I think that is so awesome, that makes her even prettier if it's even possible! There is a cat breed (American Curl I believe) that has ears like that, hers look better imo lol.
