First thing I did tonight was log on to my favorite site. Chazhound. I liked it so much I even made this site my home page. I was so excited, I was going to download pictures of my dogs for all of you to see and I could not wait to tell all my "new" friends about the new addition to my family. He is arriving November 2nd. his name is "Echo". A beautiful gsd. he will be 10 weeks old the day he arrives.
Then I read several posts that many of you wrote in response to a few posts that I submitted regarding the Emergency Recall and if you remember on saturday a new member wrote asking if anyone could help her find a mate for her mixed breed gsd/collie.
First of all, lets start with the opinion I had regarding the Emergency Recall, originally posted by Dr2little (a moderator I believe). I have trained search and rescue dogs, titled Schutzhund dogs, taught group classes, private classes, worked in a kill shelter and been a Vet Tech. I have learned many things in my travels. First and foremost... NO ONE IS AN ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY ON DOG TRAINING!!!
There are as many different types of training methods , as there are opinions on each method. What works on one dog, may not work on another. What style works for one person, may not work for another. Just as each dog is an individual, each trainer is an individual.
I, certainly am not an authority and neither is dr2little. There, at least to my knowledge, is no college degree program for dog trainers. Therefore there can be only years of experiences to back up each dog trainers particular styles of dog training.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the way dr2little responded to MY PERSONAL OPINION. After all, I am entitled to have an opinion. The fact that some of you seemed angry about the fact that some of us had differing opinions of the Emergency Recall than those of dr2little's, just shows me that this is NOT a forum that whats or needs any new members, especially if us "newbies" do not agree with a particular thread. As I said , I am very disappointed.
As far as the way some of you treated the poor woman who being naive about wanting to breed her dog so that she could have a puppy with the same temperament as the mom, it made my ashamed to be a member of this forum. Especially the person who wrote that the poor woman should not only not breed her dog, but that she should in fact "spay herself".
SHAME ON YOU!
I will not be rushing home to turn on my computer anymore, to see what great new topics Chazhound has on the forums. I am taking Chazhound off my homepage, and I will try to forget what I read at Chazhound. I will also let my "dog" friends(that I have told about this forum) know that opinions are not welcome here.
If you are still reading this (assuming the moderators have actually left this thread alone, to be seen) Let me tell you about a little pit puppy that myself and the 14 year old boy from next door saved from a mommy and daddy that left him on a choke chain alone in their backyard with no food and water and a raw, abscessed neck from a too tight choker. We nursed him back to health, fed and watered him and then the young boy found him a good home.
I was told by the boy that the puppy was found yesterday, hanging from a rope, dead. An 8 year old girl, living next door to the new owners had hung the puppy. She is now in jail. Little solace to myself and the boy who saved this dog.
Now you know why I have had such an interesting day......
.......GOODBYE.......
