First thing I did tonight was log on to my favorite site. Chazhound. I liked it so much I even made this site my home page. I was so excited, I was going to download pictures of my dogs for all of you to see and I could not wait to tell all my "new" friends about the new addition to my family. He is arriving November 2nd. his name is "Echo". A beautiful gsd. he will be 10 weeks old the day he arrives.

Then I read several posts that many of you wrote in response to a few posts that I submitted regarding the Emergency Recall and if you remember on saturday a new member wrote asking if anyone could help her find a mate for her mixed breed gsd/collie.

First of all, lets start with the opinion I had regarding the Emergency Recall, originally posted by Dr2little (a moderator I believe). I have trained search and rescue dogs, titled Schutzhund dogs, taught group classes, private classes, worked in a kill shelter and been a Vet Tech. I have learned many things in my travels. First and foremost... NO ONE IS AN ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY ON DOG TRAINING!!!

There are as many different types of training methods , as there are opinions on each method. What works on one dog, may not work on another. What style works for one person, may not work for another. Just as each dog is an individual, each trainer is an individual.

I, certainly am not an authority and neither is dr2little. There, at least to my knowledge, is no college degree program for dog trainers. Therefore there can be only years of experiences to back up each dog trainers particular styles of dog training.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the way dr2little responded to MY PERSONAL OPINION. After all, I am entitled to have an opinion. The fact that some of you seemed angry about the fact that some of us had differing opinions of the Emergency Recall than those of dr2little's, just shows me that this is NOT a forum that whats or needs any new members, especially if us "newbies" do not agree with a particular thread. As I said , I am very disappointed.

As far as the way some of you treated the poor woman who being naive about wanting to breed her dog so that she could have a puppy with the same temperament as the mom, it made my ashamed to be a member of this forum. Especially the person who wrote that the poor woman should not only not breed her dog, but that she should in fact "spay herself".

SHAME ON YOU!

I will not be rushing home to turn on my computer anymore, to see what great new topics Chazhound has on the forums. I am taking Chazhound off my homepage, and I will try to forget what I read at Chazhound. I will also let my "dog" friends(that I have told about this forum) know that opinions are not welcome here.

If you are still reading this (assuming the moderators have actually left this thread alone, to be seen) Let me tell you about a little pit puppy that myself and the 14 year old boy from next door saved from a mommy and daddy that left him on a choke chain alone in their backyard with no food and water and a raw, abscessed neck from a too tight choker. We nursed him back to health, fed and watered him and then the young boy found him a good home.

I was told by the boy that the puppy was found yesterday, hanging from a rope, dead. An 8 year old girl, living next door to the new owners had hung the puppy. She is now in jail. Little solace to myself and the boy who saved this dog.

Now you know why I have had such an interesting day......

.......GOODBYE.......

the reason we got upset with the woman looking to breed her dog is becuase when we explained our concerns rationally, she got harsh with us. We will not take that.

Also, how can an 8 year old girl be in jail? Could you explain that to me? unless I am wrong I dont think they put 8 year olds in Jail.

Dakota - I actually tend to agree with you on this. This forum is very unfriendly to people who don't share their long-held beliefs. Be warned - that is common of almost all animal-based forums on the internet. People of like mind stick together, and tend to ostracize anyone who doesn't think like them. That's a simple rule of sociology, and it certainly holds true here.

That said, there is still lots to learn here - stick around, ask your questions, read some responses, and take everything with a grain of salt. You said it yourself - no one is an absolute authority, but there are folks here with knowledge and experience that anyone could benefit from. You've already pretty much learned which topics to stay away from here if you have thin skin, so just stick to the safe ones.

Steve, I appreciate your thoughts. However I do not feel I have anything to learn from people, who after reading my post, want to focus on the "juvi" thing. This only proves my original point. Small minded people stay small minded.

THIS IS MY LAST POST.

THIS IS MY LAST POST.
Buhbye.

ETA:

I've been on both sides of the fence.. I've been on the "agree with majority" and the "getting beaten by a whip and then some". It hasn't stopped me, nor will it ever. I have a voice and it will be heard, whether people want to accept it or not. I am here for a reason.

You can't be run off of forums because someone hurt your feelings or because you don't agree with the majority and are very much the minority. That's silly.

Well if you cant really take differnt opnions then I dont think forums are for you. People do NOT agree with back yard breedings like that other topic you speak of. No good dog owner/breeder would agree with that persons thoughts on how to breed

I missed the fun....waaaaaa! Some people like to believe the world is flat. And its much easier to say the training doesn't work, and blame the training, than it is to blame yourself, the trainer.

And as to people sticking together. I have to deal with enough crank and yank trainers out there in real life (and beat them hehehehe) That why would I go and join a forum that loved to talk about 'voodoo' (as in superstitious, not the dog lol) training vrs science based training?

see, personally the reaosn i liek this forum so much is the varying opinons and aproaches and the fact that we can bbutt heads and verbally beat the heck out of eachother in one post then be fine and dandy and cocoing over how gorgeous eachothers dogs are in another, i LIKE that people can do that without being sensored by mods, and i like that the members that stick around are mature enough to handle some differing opinions wihtout throwing a tempertantrum...
for those that cant handle it...plase, ill walk you to the door myself!

I agree with foxywench and the others. I am new to this forum and never been part of any other forum but I have noticed that there were times when people got on a heated debate and didnt agree and then turn around and share pictures and laugh together. its like a family here that I have noticed and I like it! even if I am not always posting I am however always lurking! bye.

I missed the thread also- and i do stay here because like minded means to me here the ANIMALS come FIRST and the HUMAN emotion, politics. profit come last in the cases of 'should i breed my mixed dog etc etc"

When one of us has a 911 NOT dog related we rally with each other.
When we have a dog related 911 the best comes out of Chaz.

But no I must admit we are not to welcoming to people who start out with anything that could result in a unwanted dog or cat or abuse or neglect.

That is why i stay here, I can find many a site that the goal is about making human friends first, kissing ass to any online friend no matter their background in dogs, and greed and ego that follow dog breeding as a busness or a hobby.

So Chazhound is when the dogs and animals come first and if we make friends that is a bonus not a requirement.
But here you are expected to know or be willing to learn that animals have souls. And NO no one has the right to bring souls into this world unless we are willing to be responsible for that soal no matter how many for the rest of its god given life..

Nothing personal just for the love of animals we all get a bit jaded.
Heh I work in Petco the backyard breeders are a plenty and I educate I dont
preach and it works. But in person is much easier to convey emotion than thru the keyboard. ( also takes out the possibility its a troll)

Nuff said now im tired of listening to myself :)
