My dogs all think everyone (including other dogs) is their BFF.
Wilson is polite.. he stays on the ground and wiggles around for a minute or two then calms down. If someone sits on the floor, he goes directly for their laps and plants his butt on them (I always warn people of this) LOL. He does NOT lick most people, only people he really likes.
Sako is generally very polite too.. he'll sometimes jump up if it's someone he really likes, or if they get all excited when greeting him. But he's what I call a "polite jumper".. as in, he doesn't try to knock you down, just kind of.. places himself on you, if that makes sense. He's very wiggly too, which sometimes causes issues in the conformation ring when the judge examines him.. he's getting better though!
Piper is just.. bad. Always has been, and we've tried every training trick in the book with her, she doesn't care. Usually I keep her leashed if someone is coming over (if it's someone new), because after the first 5min., she's fine, but if we just let her go she jumps all over people. The only thing we've found that really helps is letting her greet them outside in our garage.. for some reason, she rarely tries to jump out there. Oh, and if she's at someone else's house, she rarely jumps either. She's a weird one.
The "problem" with my dogs is that most of the people that come to my house are either A. My dog friends who don't mind if they're somewhat rude or B. Eric's friends, who think it's AWESOME to let the dogs jump ALL over them. I used to get mad, but now I just laugh at them and say "Well, you asked for it!"
