The current trend of young people thinking they cannot gain knowlede and wisdom from older people who have seen and experienced so much more then them just baffles me. To me experience and wisdom overcomes most knowledge sure there are some stupid older people out there but for the most part they have wisdom that we young people do not have. Just my .02 cents

What bill do you support? Maybe if you tell people about it then we can support it, too.
I don't know if there's a particular bill out, but I tend to support Obama and McCain's health care ideas more than any other candidate's. Obama's calls for a national health insurance program that's available for those who are not eligible for any other type of insurance, but it still isn't mandatory for all Americans. McCain is against a national coverage plan, but supports improvements on the current system, such as small businesses getting better rates from insurance companies and malpractice reforms.

I'm definately against what I read about Ron Paul's idea in the link you posted. I don't trust private sector competition as the way to make things right. If I remember correctly, the whole "increase efficiency and create better rates through private sector competition" theory is what was behind the de-regulation of electric companies. And living in a de-regulated state, I know how well that turned out for the consumer. Our energy costs took a huge jump right of the back. I'm paying double what I did before de-regulation.

Oops, I forgot. You're always right, and anybody with a differing opinion is either flat-out wrong, an idiot, a liar, or not a real American.

Sorry. I'll leave this thread alone.

You've said it before and I will repeat it: It takes more than one person. What legislation are Obama or McInsane going to use to accomplish their health care reforms?

The government has been running health care (and energy) for a long time. From the medical standpoint, daily practice has become unbearably inefficient. How could increasing government involvement or reforming the current failures make things better?

I'm not trying to argue. I really would like to know. I'm still looking for an ideal solution--right now, I know our current system is horrible.

Right. I'm the one that is obtuse, but yet you think beta carotene comes from Vitamin B. Is that because "beta" starts with B? I guess that makes apples a form of Vitamin A.

I'm still trying to figure out where you came up with that one . . . that's basic elementary school health classes and after doing a search going back a couple of years I didn't come up with a post of mine concerning beta carotene that even YOU could misinterpret that badly . . .

But, that being said, you need to stop being so disingenuous about your concerns for health care.

You've made it abundantly clear that some day you hope to be a real MD rather than just playing one on the internet.

Examined through THAT glass, your interest would appear to have more to do with your future earning potential . . . .

Your interpretation of a methodology for "fixing" health care sounds suspiciously like the same argument we heard for trickle down economics. And THAT worked SO well over the long haul . . .

Nope, they sure haven't. You still keep posting after making grand announcements that you're leaving and never coming back.

Sorry for the thread de-railing, all. I know I said I wouldn't post on this thread anymore, but I just had to respond to this.

See the multi-vitamin thread. Read the link that you posted.

Do I actually try to play an M.D. on the internet? Believe it or not, I actually have some level of education and I speak from that. It's not "playing" anything on the internet--it's just having an informed outlook.

I make no qualms about it--I look forward to making $300k/year (and more). However, I don't base my suggestions for health care policy on that at all. It seems like the only people that are really complaining about physician compensation are the socialists that think stealing from one group of people to even the playing field (i.e., "universal healthcare") is reasonable.

Before you start making personal attacks, try to address the original post and intent of the thread. I posted regarding the possibility of free market medicine. In my opinion, it is a decent model and it is currently working elsewhere in the world:

The Institute provides patient care at a ratio of 1:1 non-paying to paying patients through fee cross-subsidization. The Institute uses a combination of financial modalities, including donations, grants and fees to administer its non-patient care programs
http://intqhc.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/13/4/283

It's not that hard. All you have to do is read some real facts instead of listening to CNN all day. Come on, you can do it! :D

(For the record, I've never supported trickle down economics. That goes against everything I stand for--I work hard to reap the benefits. Why should my benefits trickle down so other people can feed off of them?)

I studiously avoid things like CNN. Barely aware of it's existence.

You don't seem to have any grasp of what the trickle down economic theory was about  But I won't bother to offer you any edification since you are already possessed of all possible worthwhile knowledge , as you so ably proved with your expert breast feeding advice.
