Some of the posts in this thread are glaring examples of why we have the government we do.

Although I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the other threads and how intelligently some people were able to put forth and support their opinions (on both sides). That made me:)

I agree.. but THIS is definitely NOT one of them

Don't get your panties in a twist cause' McBush lost.
Labra, I don't know how old you are, but the way you posted on these election threads gave me a really negative first impression of you. Not that it's important or that you should care, but still.. I wish you would state your opinion in a more constructive way.

There are ways for everyone to state their opinion WITHOUT demeaning others'.

Eh, I don't care who votes for what. You can vote for Joe the Plumbing Guy for all it matters.

I'm just having fun!

I don't see whats wrong with poking fun at McCain..it happens to Obama, don't get so defensive that crazy democrats like to poke fun at your candidate.
Oh no, it's a free country. You can make fun of anyone you like.. but out of respect to other people on this forum who happen to prefer McCain over Obama, I think one should not make fun of their choice & vice versa.

I can't wait for this election to be over. I'm sooo sick of reading about how each candidate sucks but the other is soooo much better (which goes for both McCain and Obama).

Back in 1992 on election day, we had a faux election... I was in 2nd grade at the time. We all voted for "our" candidate (Clinton, Bush, or Perot). I ended up picking Clinton because I thought he had a funny looking nose.

Anyway, I told Ian that story and apparently his school did the same thing. He voted for Perot because of his ears. lol.

Those were the days. LOL.

You make me feel old. I was graduating college that year.:yikes:

As for the name calling and all (McPain, McSame, McBush, Obrack, Buttcrack Osama, Barack Yomama, etc.),
I'm all for bashing each others candidate. Attack their record, the policies. Make up stuff that they did. I don't care. That's all politics as usual. The name calling just drives me batshit crazy for some reason. It's childish and beneath each and everyone of us who have progressed beyond the 4th grade. These men and women have risen to a point in their lives where we at least owe them the dignity of calling them by their name. I've listened to people say "Shrub" and "Chimp" for President Bush for 8 years. I heard people calling President Clinton names for 8 years previous to that. Have we, as a society, not matured to the point where we can make our displeasure known while at least giving people basic human dignity and respect? To me, calling someone a goofy name says that you have no other argument against them so you resorted to name calling.

I'm not holier than anybody. I'm guilty of it, too and I kick myself when I catch me doing it. Whoever wins will be my president. I may not agree with his policies. I may even join in protests calling for policy changes. I won't, however, make it a habbit of dehumanizing him by giving him a cartoonish name.

Feel free to disagree. I've got thick skin.

FWIW, I voted my conscience this morning, splitting my ticket all over the place amongst R's, D's and I's.
