Have any of you thought about what you're going to name future pets?

My next two rats are going to be Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, probably called Rosen and Gilly for short. My horses and rats have a Shakespeare theme (my last two rats were Brutus and Ceasar, and my horse is Romeo, while my mom's is Juliet.)

For female cats, I like Faith and Grace. Not sure about male cat names yet.

As long as it fits, I want my next dog's name to be Cypress. Bronx, Leviathan, Chena, Arles, Bluet, Versailles, Tricasse, Troyes, and Chakra are also names that I love.

I have a thing for French names it seems ;)

Absolutely! I know that 99% I will get another male dog. I reallly really love Tanner, I think I lean towards Tanner the most for some reason. I like Jude (mainly because I think it goes with Jackson and I wanna stick with the music theme). Parker is another one I've always liked. I tend to like 'last names' for first names, if that makes sense. Like Jackson is a common last name. I have a few others I've always liked but they're not coming to me right now, lol

I've got a huge whole list (like 20+ each of boys & girls names!)... I don't think I'll narrow it down until I actually meet my pup. :D

Yes, but people here keep using my favorite!

I have one left in my possible list, but it is strictly a boy name, so we will see.

I have whole lists, it's sad actually. Especially since I don't even want another dog for years.

While one would depend on breed (if applicable), the individual, litter theme (if applicable)...etc.

I want a Payton after Walter, but I'm sure most people would hear "Payton" and think "Manning." And that's not what I intend. So it's on the list but it probably will be a long long time... Manning needs to retire first I think...

I've given it some thought, but I mostly just come up with names on the spot. For example, Chloe's name was going to be Raina...but it didn't fit, so she ended up getting a name that I wouldn't have picked out in 100 years. But, it suits her. Like how my Guinea Pig ended up getting named "Dot". Don't know how that happened, either. LOL

I am, however, going to name a male dog Toboe at some point in time. ^_^

Male names:
1. Berry
2. Beau (pronounced Bay-you, not Bo, because a long time ago when I didn't know how to pronouce the -eau sound in words, I thought it made the ay-you noise, and I like that better for the name :p)
3. Toboe (Toe-bo-eh).

Female names:
1. Onyx
2. Cherry
3. Raina

We end up picking really random names for our dogs a lot of times. Strider was the only one that stuck on him, but Charlie's full name was *ahem*

Charles Merriweather III, pronounced (with a goopy west London accent) Chaaaawwwles Merreeewehthuh Thuh Thuuuuuhd. You also had to say it in one long breath. And yes, we did call him that. He loved it. If we ever got mad at him (often) we'd calm ourselves down by saying his full name, followed by how daaare you!, Lady Bracknell style. That always got a full body wiggle out of him. :rofl1:

Some random names I like, and may use on a dog or other pet if it fits:

Lothar Lightninghammer
Lady Bracknell
Mr. Highpockets

We're big Pratchett fans too, and there's too many awesome names of his to not have some on a list. :D

Suffer-Not-Injustice (that may end up being a registered name)
Dorfl
Havelock Vetinari
Gaspode
Visit-the-Infidel-with-Explanatory-Pamphlets (this may end up being a Tegu name)
Wee Mad Arthur (possibly if we ever are crazy enough to get a small terrier)

If I ever get my male GSD his name will 100% be Kipling (Kip for short), after Rudyard Kipling. My heart dog was a GSD named Akela, after the wolf in The Jungle Book, so I wanted something to relate to that. Baloo was also in the running.

If I get a male English Shepherd next I'm still undecided as far as names. I've loved the name Boone for years and I've been saving it for a dog - I could even change it to Boon now that I have Quinn (I named Quinn after a very well known cutting horse, and "Boon Bar" is a very famous old Quarter Horse sire who is still very popular in today's pedigrees, so I'd be sticking with the theme). Rooster, too - again, there's a very well known stallion who's known by Rooster (he's actually my yearling's sire's full brother). King was also another one I liked, after the King Ranch or King the early Quarter Horse stallion. I won't be able to use it anytime soon though because I think it would be way too hard having a King and a Quinn. I also probably won't do it but I think it would be really funny to have shaded sable ES named Sam - if anyone watches True Blood, Sam's dog/the dog Sam shifts into is an English Shepherd!

I still like the names Peppy and Lena too for a female - they were ones I was considering for Quinn but they didn't suit her. They go with the whole Quarter Horse theme too.

Okay - I went through and narrowed down some of the ones that I like the "most". I kinda wanted a more unique name this time, 'cause having 10 Harleigh/Harley's running towards you when you call them isn't very fun. lol

Girls:
Huntley, Ecco, Brylee/Brileigh, Zayleigh, Zola, Kenya, River(s), Fallon

Boys:
Riot, Brooks, Zeke, Seegar, Ramzi, Oakley, Sarge, Titus

Yup, so those are some of the ones I'm thinking about :D

Kind of. I have a list (Zell, Art, June, and Meg are at the top of it at the moment). But I didn't pick Mia's name from the list so who knows.

If I ever loose my mind enough to have another male Pap it will definitely be Steve. I have ALWAYS wanted to call a dainty, fluffy boy Steve.

Girls, not too sure. Their name will arrive when they do.

How could you call a dog Gaspode? :rofl1: I mean he is supposed to be the nastiest smelliest terrier thing.

I love the other ones. I have always loved the Nac Mac Feegles too.
