Treadmill - NEED one.

Breakstick - don't have one.

Springpole - I have one and Corvus LOVES it. Nellie can't reach it, and Hannah doesn't acknowledge it's existence.

Flirtpole - don't have one, but probably should. Corvus would love it.

Sorry, but I still think they are stupid, and yeah, it is my opinion.

If I have to take Bodhi out for 2 hours minimum and throw the ball constantly and make her run, jump, swim and climb, that's what I do, because that's part of owning a dog.

What's next, buying them a playstation to stimulate their minds?

You might not like my opinion, but it's mine. I never said it's a bad idea, I just think it's a STUPID idea. When the nations of the world are becoming OBESE, we buy treadmills for our dogs.... hahaha.

If you want one, you get one, it doesn't hurt. I just think it's stoooopid. Like people who dye themselves orange because they think it looks like a nice tan, or buying other innane gadgets that make life easier when really, it's almost as easy to just do the task in hand.

Some gadgets rock.

My opinion is, I enjoy exercising my dog. It's no crime ;)
LOL. COme over here with that "My **** don't stink" attitude and try to tire Corvus out. I double dog dare you.

You obviously don't understand the term HIGH ENERGY because if you can tire you dog out with two hours of exercise, your dog is not high energy.

And I'm real glad where you live, you don't have incliment weather or other obstacles that sometimes prevent the owner from being able to have a perfect dog ownership life such as yours.

Good god, get off your freaking pedestal.

*runs off to cry*

:(

I didn't say "don't buy them they're bad" I said I think it's stupid.

I stand by it.

If you think they're the best thing since sliced bread, then cool - I aint gonna hate or judge you for it.

I would just never waste money on it myself. Nor would I own a dog that doesn't fit into my lifestyle - ie, I can't provide for it, in the way that I want to provide for it. And in MY (please note the MY life MY MY MY) life, that means getting off my arse and walking my dog.

I fully accept other people don't have the time or energy. You do what you gotta do.

There is NO ONE PERSON with either the time or the energy to tire out some dogs. Tallulah is my little rogue electron. Bimmer and Kharma do a good job of wearing her down, lol, and she does a good job of wearing them down.

Taking Tallulah and Kharma to the weight pull yesterday took the edge off, but 'Lullah was still ready to wrestle for a short time when she got home - then finally crashed.

Then woke up again ready to go after about an hour nap

I could walk her until her pads literally were worn down and bleeding and she'd still have that explosive energy left. Kharma and Bimmer are the same way; they've just got more self-control, plus, being able to let them RUN on a treadmill would be fantastic for their physical condition and overall health.

I didn't buy my treadmill for Orson........I bought it for ME so I could still walk in bad weather, at midnight (if I want) or at 5 am before work and still be inside my home for my kids. It's here and so is the dog.......I see no reason not to let him use it for the same reasons I use it ;)

Did Bodhi get a two hour walk every day while you were away working this summer? I find it hard to believe that your sitter would be that dedicated, a treadmill would have been perfect for just such an occasion :)

So no, I don't find them stooopid in the least.........what I DO find stupid is people who do NOTHING for their dog but toss them in the back yard and figure that's enough.

Oh, and for the record, if Orson was interested in playing playstation for mental stimulation I would let him! hahahahahahahaha

She probably got more than what she even gets off me - he isn't named Billygoat for nothing LOL An avid rock and hill climber with a border collie ;)

You don't think they're stupid, then grand, you get one.

I never would.

That's about the long and the short of it.

Hmm JRTs playing wii. When its minus 40F/40C the JRTs could have a great game of wii fetch lol.

So Dizzy since you are soooo smart. What would YOU do with small high energy dogs who can only go out (due to the cold) for 5 min at a time? Just curious since a tread mill is a stupid idea.

Bull and Terrier breeds have high level of exercise needs, so a flirt pole, spring pole, tread mill is needed, a break stick is for sure needed in a house where there is more than one bull breed!
I think its very good that owners of pits, staffords etc own them, I have a break stick for my SBT because if she got in to a fight (which she has never had a serious fight because I am fully undercontrol and she is OK with dog, not friendly but not aggressive, till the other dogs turn aggressive, by that time I have her under control) the only thing to get her off that would work safely with no damage to her or me is a break stick.

As for other breeds, a flirt pole, spring pole, tread mill is a great form of exercise

and the people who think its only for dog fighters is stupid and ignorant

Ohhh ffs, where did I say you shouldn't get one?

Do what all the other people with JRTs do round these parts - there's plenty of em, shall I ask?

I don't really care if I'm 100% honest.

I don't know what people do with JRTs in Britain. I am not sure how relevant it is, as I don't think you get the extremes of weather that will force you indoors. Yes I do believe there are lots of JRTs 'across the pond' but not sure how that helps me here?

You said that they were stupid. So what would you do? Would you let your dogs go stir crazy? What outlet would you give them that would be safer and cheaper than an treadmill?

I am not sure why you would not want to be 100% honest.. what are you hiding?

In my situation, I think reggin would be so much better with a treadmill. I cannot take him on walks. He does not get walks. Its unfair on him. We do not have a fenced yard, yet. He does not get the exercise he needs. He does not get tired out easily. I make sure to play fetch every day, but that is not enough. He is still wound up like crazy. He gets zoomies in the house and has knocked over madison on different occasions. He tries pestering the cat and pebbles. He has energy and he has no way of relieving it. A treadmill would be amazing for us. I cannot wait to get this fence up, because he would at least have an area to get as wild as he wanted.

Sweet FA, I just can't be arsed having a boring debate about treadmills of all things on a dog forum today.

And for the record, I meant to be 100% honest, I don't really care.

And I don't.

Not one jot, iota or anything else. Nope. Not an emotion is roused.

*concentrates*

No, I still really don't give a schizzle.

I only replied because of the "oh my god you're so self righteous" comments I read when I said I thought they (eta they being treadmills - I know how people like to ASSUME here) were STUPID.

It's an opinion - and not a very offensive one at that.

:)

K?

no thats not what you said... direct quote here

I would think we should always care to be honest. But either way that IS what you typed.

You said it was stupid. That is not an opinion that is a judgement. An opinion would be "I think the use of these is silly as you could just do _____________ in stead" I have asked you what do you propose instead. Its ok for something to be stupid if there is something better. Ie letting your dog run loose is stupid, you could use a leash, a fence etc etc.

Do you not realise when you say something is stupid, for no reason that you can give, with no suggestions on how people can do something different, you are acting like a troll? That you are insulting all the people here who DO use a treadmill, or would like too?

Are treadmills in physiotherapy centers for pets also stupid? Or are they ok if they are used by trained proffesionalls?

OR were you just saying this to troll and get people upset? I guess I just trusted a fellow chaz member too much. I assumed that you ACTUALLY had a basis for your opinion/judgement, I won't make that error again.

Oh noes, she missed a comma!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRISIS!
I don't really care, if I'm 100% honest.

Better?

Is this all you have to do today? Get stressed because I said treadmills are stupid and I'd never buy one?

Really?

I mean, fair enough, if I said... babies are ugly and crap people should never have them - THAT is kinda insulting. Or.... you know what, I think that anyone who likes dogs are STUPID, would kinda be insulting on a dog forum....

Hello - treadmills??? Do YOU really care that much about what little old me thinks about TREADMILLS??

Or do you like drama?

No. I am saddened and disapointed that you seem to like stirring up people and create drama. I have said many times I DO like drama. But not when it involves reg chaz members. I LOVE drama with trolls, thats fun. I like to feed trolls.

I honestly thought you said you weren't being honest. How was I supposed to know there was to be a comma there? I was confused, or is that not allowed.

If you said you didn't want one no one would have cared. When you say they are stupid you are saying we must be too since some of us like them.

Say if you said labs are stupid (which could be a persons honest feelings towards them) how do you think that would make people with labs feel? If you say I don't want them they are not for me-do you think anyone would care?

But I get the impression you don't care if people understand you, nor if you understand others. So I will stop as I get the impression I am typing for no reason :D

Then why don't you just take your judgmental self out of my thread, 'k? Start your own debating the merits of treadmills. This one is to see if owners of other breeds use the things I've mentioned. I could care less if you're high enough on your horse that you can look down on others.

Sweet FA, I just can't be arsed having a boring debate about treadmills of all things on a dog forum today.
Then GTFO. This thread was not for debate until you were rude enough to start one.
