I would only consider a flirt pole for Bjorn, Charlotte, and Peanut. Peanut goes nuts if I am just holding a toy in my hand!!I don't want to encourage that type of jumping with my dachshunds (I have been trying pole jumps with Cartman, but that doesn't put the type of pressure a flirt pole would on his back and he LIKES to jump straight up.

I don't need a break stick for my dogs. They coexist wonderfully. There are only a few spats here and there (Charlotte and Lucy get into it occasionally, but I don't need a break stick to stop them, they don't hold onto each other, so just picking one of them up stops the fight.

And Harry and Cartman got into ONCE in the past couple of years (They used to fight more often when Harry was younger). And that was over a toy...

What is wrong with a tread mill? I do not put them on one nor do I own one, instread I go to the gym.
My dog gets to run on a beach twice a day for 2 hours, plus plenty of exercise in my garden, flirt pole etc and ball work, she at least get 3 -4 hours of exercise a day.

But then I am lucky I can do that, some people do not have this type of freedom to run the butts of thier dogs, bull breeds need a high level of exercise and tread mill is a great way to do so!

its better than dogs having 30 min walk a day and no real exercise that coul equate to a hyper dog with temperement issues

In my situation, I think reggin would be so much better with a treadmill. I cannot take him on walks. He does not get walks. Its unfair on him. We do not have a fenced yard, yet. He does not get the exercise he needs. He does not get tired out easily. I make sure to play fetch every day, but that is not enough. He is still wound up like crazy. He gets zoomies in the house and has knocked over madison on different occasions. He tries pestering the cat and pebbles. He has energy and he has no way of relieving it. A treadmill would be amazing for us. I cannot wait to get this fence up, because he would at least have an area to get as wild as he wanted.
What a shame for your dog!
If he got the correct exercise then for sure he would not be hyper and you would see such a difference in him!
I am not going to judge why he does not get walked, but I am sure you have a reason and its not my place nor my business to ask, I can see you love him :)

if you can aquire a tread mill, maybe a second hand one this would be amazing for him, also if you have a large living room make a flirt pole and tie a toy to it and get him to chase it, also Boomer balls are fab get one that is to big for him to carry and generally dogs get obessed and chase it around, but just put it away after because my dog wont stop lol!
If you have stairs make a game of this, chuck a tennis ball up and down at least 4 times a day for 10 mins each time, he will be so tired!
If you do not have stairs then bang of it a wall, somewhere safe and roomy where u dont have breakables lol!

No. I am saddened and disapointed that you seem to like stirring up people and create drama. I have said many times I DO like drama. But not when it involves reg chaz members. I LOVE drama with trolls, thats fun. I like to feed trolls.

I honestly thought you said you weren't being honest. How was I supposed to know there was to be a comma there? I was confused, or is that not allowed.

If you said you didn't want one no one would have cared. When you say they are stupid you are saying we must be too since some of us like them.

Say if you said labs are stupid (which could be a persons honest feelings towards them) how do you think that would make people with labs feel? If you say I don't want them they are not for me-do you think anyone would care?

But I get the impression you don't care if people understand you, nor if you understand others. So I will stop as I get the impression I am typing for no reason :D
Then why don't you just take your judgmental self out of my thread, 'k? Start your own debating the merits of treadmills. This one is to see if owners of other breeds use the things I've mentioned. I could care less if you're high enough on your horse that you can look down on others.

Then GTFO. This thread was not for debate until you were rude enough to start one.

Ahhhh yawn.

That is how I feel right now.

Deal with something that means something.

Really, of all the threads on chaz, of ALL the serious topics I have been involved in and thrown in a disliked opinion, THIS has to be the most misplaced angy thread ever...... and yes, I said ANGY.

Like when I see pissed people at the bar having INNANE spats... "ooh look, the angy drunks are out"... ie. meaningless, benile, pointless spats over something noone would really give a sh!t about if they weren't so **** pissed. Ie. drunk, or in this case, who knows?

People die, people have serious problems and you have ISSUES because I said I think treadmills are STUPID on a forum.

Perspective is ALL that is called for.

All I can think is ''WOW''.

I don't mind treadmills, and I plan to use one too. Not everyone have the time of the day to go running for two hours straight every day. It would work well on too hot or extremely cold days.:)

Exactly.. perspective. As in looking from another persons perspective.

You think I am angry... oh you don't know me at all. YOU are great entertainment. I am saddened by your behaviour. But as you don't worry about other people's feelings as long as you get your 'jollies' out of a thread and enjoy your trollish ways, what do you care right ;) ?

You think a tool that can help dogs get much needed exercise when they cant' go out, that allows dogs to stay fit and sane, that is much used in physiotherapy, is stupid. Hmmmmm And you think people are angry at you.. NOPE that is not the right emotion.. amused is much closer.

Oh I have no problem mentioning why. We have a head halter, so pulling really is not a problem anymore. The problem is that its down right dangerous. Every time we have taken him out, we are charged by at least one aggressive off leash dog or stray. When my fiance is with me, then he can easily fend off a dog... we were even charged by two large dogs once... one was a huge GSD. The last time I took reggin by myself, we were run down by a rottweiler and pit bull, and I was ALONE. That was it for me... no more.

I carry pepper spray, air horn, and a knife. But it would be impossible for me to fend off another dog while holding reggin back... he is too strong for me and he is DA in some situations. Its too risky. I dont want to risk me getting hurt or reggin. Therefor we only walk when my fiance can go, and he works 12-17 hour days. We go when we can, but thats not enough for his energy level.

I do what I can to relieve his energy when we are safe at home. He has a spring pole that he loves, as well as balls for playing rounds of fetch. Once we get this fence up, he will have so much more room to run around and hes gonna have a blast with that. A treadmill would be a very good idea.

**** tootin'.

But what do we know? We only own high drive/high energy dogs that would scoff at her idea of getting off our lazy butts and going for a walk in an attempt to keep them exercised and stimulated.

Well, I'm angry. I asked the stupid judgmental crap to stay out of my thread a few pages ago, but it just had to go down like that. This was not a debate thread. I guess now that I've learned what I came to learn, it can go down that road. It just makes me angry when some people are so cocky and closed-minded that they feel the need to denigrate what others do. And to even presume that because a person uses a treadmill that they don't walk their dogs is the most bigoted, rude and presumptuous BS I've ever heard.

Oh, and I do walk my dogs. All 3 of those dog-aggro jerks. The three adults in the house work together to ensure they all get walked. If there's only 2 of us at the time, 2 dogs get walked. The third gets 10 minutes on the treadmill which tires them out just as nicely. We supplement that with drag work, flirtpole, springpole (when we've got cowhide on hand), and other things. My dogs probably get more enrichment than most.

Ahhhh you no like my opinion?

*runs off to cry*

:(

I didn't say "don't buy them they're bad" I said I think it's stupid.

I stand by it.

If you think they're the best thing since sliced bread, then cool - I aint gonna hate or judge you for it.

I would just never waste money on it myself. Nor would I own a dog that doesn't fit into my lifestyle - ie, I can't provide for it, in the way that I want to provide for it. And in MY (please note the MY life MY MY MY) life, that means getting off my arse and walking my dog.

I fully accept other people don't have the time or energy. You do what you gotta do.
A) I could care less about your opinion. They're like assholes ya know, everyone has one. You just seem to think yours are factual.

B) Who said Corvus doesn't fit into my lifestyle, and even if he DIDN'T, how the hell would I have known at 3 months of age WHAT he was going to mature into? He's a mutt. Once again, my less than Dizzy dog skills sure are sure shining through aren't they?

C) I think being a condescending look down your nose know it all is stupid.... but not providing a high energy dog a safe outlet for excess energy so that he doesn't resort to dangerous behaviors. Not everyone owns perfect little low maintenance robot dogs such as yourself.

D) All you EVER do is judge people. I just find it rediculously absurd that you put on this "I'm so innocent and flawless" facade while casting your judgemental, arrogant judgements at everyone. I find it even more rediculously absurd how you then act when you're called out on it. You remind me of a child doing their little "Look at me, look at me" routine then pretending you don't want the attention when everyone directs it at you.

Oh, and nice one with the whole "It's just a dog forum, I don't care" crap. Whatever Dizzy. GFY.

PS, Baha, sorry I disrupted your thread. I promise I'm done. I just had to get this off of my chest.

Your dogs are awesome, as always.

Hey, Jeff and I built Corvie's springpole ourselves and while it worked well as a learning experience and to get him used to it, it's not exactly what I'd call suitable for long term usage. (He's all but stretched the spring out).

Are there a couple of good sites you could point me to for supplies?

Thanks for explaining you did not have too! Shame other owners wont control thier dogs!

I don't really know. We just bought all the stuff for ours at Lowes. The spring, I'm thinking it's a garage door spring. Sorry, I know that's not much help. I just badgered the husband and he built it! LOL I know you can buy springpoles pre-assembled -- at least the spring and tug -- on Ebay and the like.

Hayley, thank you! :)

I think this board has some of the most dedicated dog owners/dog walkers around. If a dog is too much for a person here to handle, who's life do they fit in with? A lot of the dogs we're talking about have been rescues, and I don't see a great demand for marathon training partners.

A fenced yard? Well, I had one. Buster tends to fall asleep under a tree. Now... if we want to go somewhere, he'll trot for hours.
