That is just sick. I mean, putting clothes on a dog is one thing... Punching HOLES in a dog is another! >O\/o<

Microchipping and tattooing for ID purposes is something different. This is purely for some fashion trend, so I am NOT okay with it.

Unless i go somewhere that dogs are not allowed then he has a bag he goes in
I don't agree with this either. If it says "NO DOGS ALLOWED", it means it! It makes me so mad to see people bring their little dogs into places like they're entitled to it - just because they're in a little purse thing, it doesn't mean they can't spread parasites, affect people who are allergic, scare people (yes, I know people wo are scared of little dogs), etc.

Cell phones, chapstick, and credit cards belong in purses - not dogs. Just because you have a little dog in a purse, it doesn't mean you're above the rules.

I'm scared of some little dogs! and more than that...it upsets me that people think they can carry their dog into any public place just because they're small. well...hey...I'd like to take my dog, too........but I don't. so leave them home. places don't want my dogs......they shouldn't allow your little dog either.

That's just gross, who is there right mind would do that? There is no fashion in that....none......period. I would never ever think about doing that to any dog.

IMO Microchipping and Tattooing for ID, is totally different than having your dog's ear peicered!

I'm kind of on the fence with this.

Not to say that I'd do this to my dogs, I never would but then again I wouldn’t call it abuse either. To me, it's just a weird thing to do but I wouldn't be screaming for AC to remove the dog. It is sad when I think a dog doesn't get a chance to be a dog though. And it certainly doesn't help the perceived notion that small dogs are just accessories.

And SizzleDog, I agree with you. It bugs me when people think that the “no dogs allowed" rule only pertains to dogs you can’t sneak in. Don't people know that as soon a you brake a stores rule you are no longer a patronage in a store but a trespasser. I remember hearing that a while ago and thought it was interesting.

I recently saw my first dog with an ear pierced. A male pittie - gorgeous black and white dog. I personally thought it made the dog look bogus :(
So, I've heard the argument that it is kind of like docking. (only back wards, maybe) While I disagree with piercing, I have to say that like docking, I support the fact that we have a legal choice to do so. . .
(I hope that made sense)

Honestly, I know dogs are individuals, but I have to beg Maddie to keep her bows in even :p I can't really imagine having a dog's ears pierced. Gosh, if its that important to you to accessorize your dog (they don't care what they look like!), there's really good clip ons you can buy!

I only hope that this is not an upcoming trend, as I do not want to see it any more than we already do !!

Piercing a dog's ear is nothing like tattooing for identification. Piercings can be taken out and there are even ways to plug holes up. It would be much easier than cutting the tattoo from a dog.
As far as tattooing a dog for fashion, that too is disgusting and should be illegal.

You don't tag dog ears like cattle, you don't tattoo them as you would yourself, you don't treat them like a purse. Why there are no laws against this, I have no idea. And the fact that a 'professional' would even consider something like this makes me extremely upset.
I grew up in a tattoo parlour...my uncle has owned a business for over 30 years and is considered the best in his area and many surrounding. He tattooed number/letter sequences on dogs, within reason. And even that was very rare. He has turned people down who wanted absurd things tattooed on their dogs. One person, I remember hearing about, wanted his last name (which happened to be very long) tattooed in a certain lettering across the dog's leg on the inside. He said it's not only good to identify the dog, but "it's my last name on my property walking around, it's awesome!"

You like piercings, fine. Get them yourself.
A companion shouldn't have to be your way of expressing yourself like that.

A few days ago, at the grocery store, I saw this lady dressed in all black, long blonde hair, sunglasses, nails done. She was very 'uppity' looking, and seemed to have her nose in the air. She happened to be parked next to us, carrying some designer purse....and out pops a small furry head.:yikes:
The lady had groceries with her, and this store has a lot of open food, and buffet style areas near the deli where I saw her in...and she had this dog in her purse the whole time.

Poor dog! Treating her like a fashion accesory. If I had a toy breed such as a Chi, I would put only the little coats on it, because it would get cold, and ya. Since they are a breed who get cold easy, you have to put a coat on the dog when it is cold out. Poor dog.

Awww, I carry Ripley in enclosed (no heads popping out) purse-type carriers. He loves it, and it keeps him feeling safe in places where he would otherwise be uncomfortable.

I don't bring him in grocery stores, though he does go with me to Walgreens since the employees there (including the store owner) adore him. He just never goes near the food, which is on the complete opposite side of the store.

Thanks, Brattina :D

My dogs are always chewing on each others ears, and rolling around. Right now, Chloe is burrowing into her comforter in her crate... I couldn't imagine how much it would hurt her if she had earrings
Imagine if that pup were to get her earrings caught on the carpet... ouch. Chihuahuas have such thin ears as well!

the pericing doesnt worry me quite so much as the fact she insists her dog is only 15 oz...ive seen 15oz, dogs, that dog (no matter what angle the picture is taken) is at least 4lbs...the worrying thing about that is this perosn is more likely to cut back her dogs food because shes bigger than her owner wants her to be...
the latter pictures where the chi is sat on the dora comforter, i have a frined whos daughter has the same comforter, size wise that dog would have to be 3.5lbs AT LEAST to size comparioson to the head of dora on the comforter...

peircings can be removed and can heal up...if people can have their babies ears peiced...the pain is nothing compared to a cropping...not saying i agree with it...just that that in itself wouldnt be quite so much of a concern as the owners insistance on the tiny size of the dog...

ive actually seen a dog with an earing in reacently, her peicing was aunatural, she was biten as a puppy and it left a hole, so her "mommY" put a little silver hoop through it and in truth it looked kinda cute (but was on the edge of the ear NOT in the center (which truth be told looks weird and is not "cute" in any way shape or form)

poor pup. that dog has no idea its a dog, its probably had no training (and never will) and THOSE are the ones that give the rest of us little dog people bad names. My chis do get carried round in a bag, but they also walk on a leash, they know sit and stya and down and more, just like any bigger dogs, and more so they make people stop and ask "what breed of dog is that" not because there long haird but because "oh i always through chihuahuas were mean and nasty"
