Gah. My new landlord asked me if I wanted another husky... A friend of his has one...
His wife bought it because 'they're beautiful dogs', and now the thing is 2, and they've realized that it sheds, is crazy, needs exercise and training.... They want to buy a Labradoodle now, and this poor dog is being displaced. My LL feels bad for the poor thing and asked me if I wanted another...

My house is pretty calm as it is, and I'm not sure I want to throw another dog into the mix... Not to mention I've got my hands and schedule full with dog training and exersizing....

But another husky for sledding would be nice. My team is short one since my ex left (not counting Cricket). I live on a huge lot in the middle of nowhere, with access to endless sledding/biking trails practically right off my yard...

I told him if the dog isn't insane, isn't destructive, will get along with my guys, and will not kill my cat, I may consider.

EEP!

I don't know anything about the dog yet. He just brought it up. Someone please talk me out of considering it. LOL!!

oy! you're brave! Is the new one neutered at least? That'd help.
I don't know yet, I don't even know the sex of the dog. LOL. He caught me so off-guard. I couldn't even think to ask.

(I hope it's a black and white... I need one of those for my collection! :D)

Hmm....

If you've got the time, money, and space, what's a little extra hair and training? Besides, Cricket is an angel puppy and you could probably straight out this guy's "insanity" in a week or two.

If you can afford him, why not! I think you would love another, I was wondering where your other Husky went. I hope he fits in well with your crew so you can keep him! Oh and tell the guy you saw the two most perfect Labradoodles on petfinder.com, if he can rescue a dog maybe some good would come out of what he is doing to his poor dog.

Those were pretty much my thoughts!! :)

The PITA thing is that my lot isn't fenced. I do have a huge dog run that's like 30x20, but the dogs lounge around on tie-outs when I'm in the yard with them. I have to walk the dogs to their tie-outs and their run. It's a little annoying, but well worth it for how rad this new place is. When Cricket is older, he'll likely be okay off leash there, so if I got another, I'd still only be fumbling with 3 dogs, eventually..

If his "insanity" is just uber energy... playing with 3 other dogs should help that out! And, you're probably already on a vigorous cleaning schedule to keep your house hair free... so what's one more dog really going to do! But, another dog does add to your monthly budget in terms of food/vet/bedding/etc. If you have the room and the extra money and you like him then I would say go for it.

oh.... and GRRRRR at your LL's friend! how can you rehome a dog after 2 yrs?!?!?!?!?! and just to get another?!?!?!?!?!?

lol, most people have the opposite problem with their landlords. Anyway, I'm willing to bet most of his "insanity" is mainly lack of good exercise. ;)

You are so lucky to have such a dog-loving landlord. : )

As far as getting another Husky... that's up to you... but your home sounds like the perfect environment to train/rehabilitate/foster that poor neglected boy, if you decide not to keep him!
