Wha??? You're having another one!? Woooo hoooo! Big congratulations! I didn't come see this thread until just now because I didn't know anything first hand about C sections because I didn't have any. But I didn't make the connection! Duh... Of course! Why else would you be asking about that? LOL. I'm so excited for you! Best wishes. You have lots of time to find out all kinds of info.:)

What I cannot for the life of me work out is, why do women care what other woman choose to do??? If you have an E section or an elective one why is it anyone else's business?

It is the same as the abortion issue. I don't see how what other women do affects me?

Its a passion. Just like some of us get passionatte about what others feed their dogs or at the very least want to spread knowledge we find helpful. You can disagree tactfully though and I totally agree a lot of the birthing community is so overbearing. It's hard to hear anything but YOU ARE WRONG, BABY KILLER FOR HAVING A C SECTION because lets face it. If there is anything more extreme and opinionated than anything else in the world it is a mother when she feels she has her child's and the rest of the world's children's best interest at heart

I personally don't want a csection. I don't agree with elective csection. Do I care if anyone else has one. Nope. Its not for ME and pushing what I feel on others is wrong.
I don't even push feeding. I leave people be. Feed your dog whatever you want.

I am totally on board with you about that. I'm not pushy about my believes usually either. I tend to keep to myself. For me a vaginal delivery means a lot and I am so happy I had one with Briggs and would probably feel devastated if I had a c section due to an emergency. But that is my personal birth so I can have all the feelings I want around that. Someone else's? That is their choice to make.

^^^^ That. I LOVE that I have been able to have two vaginal births and there are things Im going to miss out this time BUT our health is more important. Jeremy had his heart set on cutting his little girls cord and hes going to have to live without that and I wanted just ONCE to help deliver my baby but I will never get that chance even vaginally the way mine go. Would I elect it for non health reasons HELL NO. Birth was HELL for me but it was best IMO for monster 1 and 2 (their current nicknames LOL) and its something with Bev I will NEVER forget. Sadly I dont remember most of Morgans (except Jeremy sleeping most of the day LMAO) Also for me there was something special about everyone being able to experience their first breath this time it will be me Jeremy and a bunch of doctors which really bothers me on one hand because my stepmom could FINALLY be at a birth of one of the kids and now medically its not what is in anyones best interest.

He should still be able to cut the cord even with a c-section. My OB asked Justin if he wanted to cut the cord, but he didn't really care to see anything on that side of the curtain.

Ok obvs have not ever been in this position, but from friends' stories it sounds like there can be a lot of variety in things you can and can't do during the c-sec birth process. Might be worth just asking the doc point blank what all your options are for every aspect of the process; stuff like DH cutting the cord, whether even minor delayed cord clamping is possible, if you can do skin-to-skin right away, if your arms can be unstrapped at any point, if your girl can stay with you in recovery, etc. I've heard of some pretty awesome c-section deliveries, so I know it's possible to have all those things, just depends on the doc and hospital.

OHHHH thats good to know I always heard they couldnt because of the steralization of the surgery site. Ill ask on my appt!!
Hubby cut the cord for Katie :). He needed to gown up (and followed some other requirements) - but he was allowed in the room with me throughout the entire surgery. This hospital allows 2 people in the birthing room with the mother, but I only had hubby with me. They also allow video taping/photographing the process (ewww). So I would definitely talk to your doctor to find out what's allowed and what's not.

OHHHH see Ive heard 1 person and no videotape and since I cant have her vaginally I was thinking about having Jeremy video them pulling/pushing her out. We are going to talk more in depth with the OB not my next appt but the following because Jeremy wasnt there when I had my only appt with him instead of the midwife.

Make sure you also check with the hospital about their policy. Different hospitals have different rules, and doctors may not know/aware of them all.

My OB only works in one hospital since hes actually IN the hospital so thankfully I dont have a worry there. I did talk to a nurse today in triage because I had to go in and they said one person and no video :( Didnt ask her about the cord or anything since shes not actually IN the room.

I once went to a c-section party :) She sent out invites and we got our nails done, hair done and then went to the hospital together for her appointment

Her husband of course was the only in the OR but we all waited outside and got to meet the babies soon after they were born (plus the babies were all cute and not wrinkly haha)

I think it was a great experience personally, I would love to do it that way if I ever have children and I saw her recently and she barely has a scar!

Her recovery was pretty fast from what I can remember, although this isn't first experience I do remember being over soon after she had the babies and she was up and about!
So not a first hand experience but just some input on a planned c-section :D she had twins btw, adorable little pair!

That is a interesting idea LOL. Im hording my baby though so no parties and that sharing nonsense. LOL. This little girl was a twin at first but we lost her buddy between 9-12 weeks. I have a feeling she did the "There must only be ONE thing" since she beats the crap out of me if Jeremy even touches me

Thanks guys :)
