It has occurred to me that I may not have ever officially announced my pregnancy here. :) I tend to read and post on threads here and there but rarely start them. Anyway, I am 20 weeks along now, due July 4th and we are having a boy this time!

Alright friends, this is your chance to name our kid! hahaha....no really, hubs and I are having the hardest time coming up with a name for our son! We have a middle name picked out because it is a family name and a last name obviously so here is what we have.

________ Jones M. (you can look up my last name on facebook and if you aren't my friend, find me under boneyjean! :))

His sister (2 yrs old) is Devin Elaine M.

And his oldest stepsister (15 yrs old) is Kortnee D'Shaun M. She was not named by us.

We like names that are not extrememly popular but also not unheard of. He is due July 4th!

Anyone want to throw their 2 cents out there??? :)

I am not fabulous at picking out names for anyone or anything, hahaha......I mean, I picked out Orson's name all by myself if that says anything to you! LOL

I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! And WOOT! A boy born on the 4th of July.........I don't know if it would be too corny or too hard to work something patriotic into his name or not?

What else do you like besides not extremely popular but not unheard of? Different spellings? Ethnic names? Classic names? Trendier names? Quirky names? Biblical names? Did you have other names on your list for Devin? Is there anything you want this baby's name to mean?

I'm seriously obsessed with baby naming. Personally, since Devin is a unisex name, I'd pick something really obviously masculine to balance that out. Like Jack, Alexander, etc. Nothing with a long O sound will compliment Jones, so those will all be out. Do you mind double initials (Jacob Jones? Matthew M.?), or if the name is another D name?

I can toss out my list of baby names I had for my guy. I actually met a woman at the maternity clinic who was about to pop and is now naming her son Briggs because she thought it was the coolest name ever. I was pretty darn flattered.

Brighton
Bryn
Brock
Blake
Blaire
Byron

I can come back with more. :)

First, CONGRATULATIONS! :D

Second, that is MY birthday! Pick a new day! hahahaha....JK. That would be so cool to share my birthday with chazzer babies. ;)

Third, my nephew's name is Dillan. It woud be a "D" name. Do you have any idea which way you're leaning towards names?

Thanks guys!

We are not particular about what type of name. We tend to look for a name we like the sound of, preferably not a top 100, or something you hear everywhere, then research it. A few names I have liked and pondered are Cooper, Jackson/Jaxon, Colton and I am sure a few more. Nothing is really just sticking out there to us yet. We pondered Jackson for awhile but I am not sure I like Jackson Jones. Cooper is another we really like, but we have a friend who we stole it from, since he ended up with a girl, and even though they are done having kids, we aren't getting a good vibe on it from them and not sure it is really the right name anyway.

I love a lot of the ones you have mentioned, but some of them are already names friends have used and that too is something we are sort of tyring to stay away from. I would totally steal Briggs but I really don't think Briggs Jones sounds right. All three of his names would end in an S!

As far as family names go, we are using a family name for the middle name which is what we did on Devin. The only other family name I like that I think might be good, is Dalton, but I have a cousin named Dalton and his dad (my uncle) and my grandad so I don't want to take it from him since he may want to carry on his name to his own son someday. My dad's name is Edward and so is my brother and someday his son, and my husband's name is George and his dad's was too but he refuses to use that.

I should also consider using Jones as a first name. I should ask my hubs what he thinks about that! :)

I am totally open to whatever ideas you guys throw out there. I have looked through so many baby name books and they all just seem the same. You guys have already come up with more than I am finding in those!

I often seem to be drawn to last names as first names and tradesmith type names, and possibly celtic names if I am remembering correctly I think for some reason. We have taken a break from looking so I have sort of released it all from my brain. :)

CONGRATS!

I'm bad with names, but I want to name my daughter, Ryan (I think it makes a really cool girls name!) so that's one suggestion, and then I want to name my son Brendon Jacob, which either of those could work. :) Good luck finding the perfect name! I've never really just sat down and thought "what do I want to name my baby?". I just have ideas of what i'd like to name my kids in the future that have come randomly on their own, and have some sort of meaning to me. And I'm FAR from having kids. XD Maybe like...5 or 10 more years... XD

The 2 names I love love love are Rembrandt and Nathaniel.

I actually met a Rembrandt the other day. He's 9 and so adorable. I think if I had a son I would name him that. Plus I'm an art history major lol so that fits.

ok, so along the lines of Jackson/Cooper/Colton. Masculine but kind of new-fashioned-surnamish. Irish names might fit well here.

Unfortunately, a lot of those names are now seen on girls (Payton and Addison), I don't know if that would bother you.

Payton
Addison
Ethan
Aidan
Brady
Dexter
Callum/Callan
Mason
Carter
Carson
Cillian
Bennett
Oliver
Casper
Wesley/Weston
Tristan

Some of those are more old-fashioned but still have a similar sound/feel.

Ok. So I named my Third Cooper, but feel free to steal it. :p. The only reason he wasn't a Colton is because I have a Cole already. :D. I also have a Carson.

What about Casen? Or Colt (my other fave!)?

My cousin is having a Jaxson. I still like Joshua. I like Weylin.
