A person has their dog 'dressed up' in a coat to keep it warm, and it happens to have longer hair. So they're attacked for treating their dog like a child because it's wearing a blanket coat to keep it warm, because they think all dogs keep themselves warm by growing thicker fur in cooler weather.
This just happened on my other forum. Poor girl was just trying to share pictures of her adorable little dog in his coat, and everyone jumped down her throat saying dogs don't need 'human clothes'.
I honestly think this is a pretty unsafe assumption by people. I can only assume there are people out there not keeping their single-coated breeds warm while they shiver in the cold because they think their fur does enough.
I mean, one person said only Greyhound-type dogs that are skinny and shorthaired get cold. Really?
I've had several longhaired dogs that shivered hard in cold weather, and this was when I lived in NC. I live in Canada now, I can't imagine how those same little dogs would take to our winters here!
These are the same people that shave their double-coated breeds right down to the skin every summer.
