not sure how to word this but....

Whose dog is your dog lol what I mean is is your dog a daddy's boy/girl a mommy's boy/girl etc etc

I was thinking about this tonight.

Belle is pretty much anyone who will give her attentions dog. but ultimately... she is Hannah's dog. she will follow Hannah around everywhere. she LOVES attention from anyone and will rub all over anyone and just be all up in your face but her loyalties really lie with Hannah lol

Beezer is HANDS DOWN Brians dog. He is SUCH a daddy's boy. He loves me don't get me wrong and he will seek out affection from me but if given the choice... he is Brians boy. He will lay down next to Brian rather than me... lay at Brians feet. if something is wrong he will seek out Brian first and look for his approval first over mine lol.

So... I'm just left out with NO dog of my own lol.

but it got me thinking. who does your dog REALLY belong to :)

Georgia is my dog, she always has been. Kenai is my mom's dog. Shotgun is my dog/my brother's dog. He loves kids. Especially kids who throw balls. :p

Our dogs are mine, heart and soul.

And Sparks, isn't it about time you got yourself a dog?

Me. He's like Belle in that he wants loving from everyone, but when it comes down to it he's closely bonded to me, which I've really started to realize in the last couple weeks. This morning he made it crystal clear who he loves most. :eyeroll: We were at the neighbor's house on a playdate, and he decided he didn't want anything to do with Leo and was scared of him, so he spent most of half an hour anxiously following me around, hiding behind me, and wrapping his paws around me and begging me to hug him. Through lots of praise and general excitement, we managed to get him okay with Leo again, but he made it pretty clear that I was "base" and he wanted to glue himself to me.

He'll walk off with other people, but god forbid if I hand his leash over and walk away myself.

Sawyer is a "Grandmas Boy" lol. He LOVES my mom and my mom LOVES him. I love him just as much but she has really bonded to him more than any other animal. Her heart melts for him. And he just loves her because she will cuddle him on her lap and insist on him sleeping in her bed.

But he listens to me and looks for my approval. He has a hard time following commands my mom gives him lol. But she is doing better.

Maggie May only has eyes for me. She could care less about everyone else in the world as long as she is close to me.

Morrison is also all mine. He loves my mom and he loves attention from guests. But he doesent thrive on it like Sawyer does. He will greet and get some loving and then come back to my feet and lay down. He has some seperation anxiety which I was aware of before I adopted him. And so he does whine when I am gone. And not when my mom or anyone else is.

He leans back on my chest and looks up with these liquid eyes so full of love and I know he is mine forever. He's been such a great addition.

Blaze is hands down mine. I would say it's the same way with Lizzie, too. They both will take attention from others, but neither look at or respond to other people the way they do with me.

LOL don't tempt me.

seriously thought we can't have another dog just now in THIS house but we have already talked about it lol.

next dog is MINE to pick out. I hope it's my Dane but if it's not.. it's still my dog to choose lol.

Now I did pick Belle and she was my dog until Hannah was born. But as my mom says "she's just a dog that has waited her whole life for a child of her own" she will choose ANY child over me any day lol. When the kids next door are out she's all over the fence, tail wagging so hard it wags her whole butt. she just loves kids... so any child in the home is HERS. so i got left int he dust when Hannah was born.

Even before Hannah was born Belle would just lay on my tummy. like she just knew.

Brian did pick Beezer. I wasn't sold on him but when Brian took the leash Beezer immediately calmed and actually walked normal on the leash (which had been an issue for the shelter and for getting him adopted). we knew then he had to come home with us and he's been Brians boy ever since. He could survive with just me but he would THRIVE with just Brian lol. He loves his daddy.

So... it's agreed... the next dog (whenever that may be) is MINE to choose. I want MY dog lol.

I think I would have classified Teddy as my dog. He loved Brian VERY much but Teddy and I spent A LOT of time just the two of us. especially since him and I lived in Canada for a long time without Brian. He was very protective of me. He wouldn't bite skin but he would hold clothing and keep them at bay when I was alone without Brian (for strangers). not exactly the best trait but he was very loyal about keeping people we didn't know away from me when we would be alone in the woods or out at night. he took that very seriously. Brian nor my father (who stayed with me) ever worried about leaving me alone at night with Teddy around. He was my boy and I miss him so much. was he too much dog for me? probably at times. but he was VERY intense about protecting me from people we didn't know when we were on our own. I am confident I could have gone anywhere with that boy and not feared someone grabbing me. He was VERY intense about keeping strangers away from me. people we knew or that I accepted? no problem. but he knew when I didn't KNOW someone and he blocked. He was a handful but he was definitely useful being a female alone in the dark in the woods.

Spanky is my dog. He loves everybody whether he's meeting them for the first time or known them forever. His preference is for everyone to gather in the same room, but when we're scattered throughout the house, he is at my feet. He'll go check on everyone else, especially if they have food, but he'll be back once everything's in order.

I never imagined he would choose me, either. The dog we had before him worshipped my husband. I was home all day with him, fed him, took him to obedience, potty trained him, snuggled with him in the mornings after we got everyone off to school and work, and for all that he chose my husband. It was actually rather sad at times when my husband had to be out of town on business. Pongo knew what time he came home from work and would start watching the door. ON the nights he didn't come home, in a couple of hours the poor dog would have his nose pressed to the front door. We would try to tell him daddy wasn't going to come home, but he kept his vigil for some time.

I guess because of that, it surprised me when I realized how Spanky had become attached more to me than anyone else in the family.

It's always been pretty common for the cats to prefer me, but not the dogs.

Oy I hear ya about the time daddy comes home.

between 5 pm and the time Brian walks through the door is my most stressful time of day lol. cue 5 pm... the dogs start pacing and whining. Hannah is getting antsy too.

this continues on until Brian gets home.

it's a PAIN IN MY BUTT

Both Mia and Summer are mine easily. Especially Mia. Summer has a real fondness for Josie too.

Rose is dad's.

Nard is Emily's.

Beau was my mom's hands down. I feel badly for him, he's never been the same with anyone else since. He loves everyone now equally. I try to go out of my way to give him some special time. I know he misses her.

Eerie is definitely my boyfriend's dog, I think, although I really think she enjoys spending time at my house because, let's face it, I'm home during the day and he is not.

Autumn loves everyone, lol. I raised her right from the beginning - she was the "pass around pup" - sleepovers here and there, she's the most mannered dog we have, no matter who has her.

Daisy is mine, hands down. She would wilt and die without me.

Liz... well, she really only "works" for me (sometimes she won't even sit for PlottDaddy...) but I think she could probably be persuaded to leave me... I can't really describe her. She freaks when I leave her with someone else, but I suspect she may have a learning disability and may forget about me once I'm out of sight ;)

I'm not sure Rage has any loyalties, lol.

Kage is turning himself into a daddy's boy! When my husband is not around he is is very attentive to me. He tries to be my lap dog. He follows my directions at any time. But when my husband is home he snuggles with him, he licks him, he looks to dad as to whether things are really ok if he is worried about something. DH is thrilled, I think!

Bandit, hands down, is my dog. Since being pregnant he has been getting most of his exercise from other people and gotten more friendly but he's still my boy. He lays at my feet, follows me around, looks at me with those big brown eyes that just scream "I love you".

Keira is definitely my mom's dog in the way that she thinks she can't live without her, and her whole world pretty much revolves around mom. But Keira respects me more and lsitens to me better (as do the other two) for some reason.

Ripley loves everyone, but he's my dog. I was hoping he'd view both mom and I sort of as equals and wouldn't choose one of us over the other, but as much as he adores my mom, he's made it pretty clear whose dog he wants to be.

Dance is definitely my dog. She loves the whole family, but she's my constant shadow.

Juno is all mine. I'd be upset if it were any other way, considering I'm the only one who does ANYthing with her!
When it comes to snuggling on the couch she does prefer being with my mom, but I think that's just because my mom lets her sprawl out on top of her, whereas I am quite strict that she needs to lay NEXT to me, not ON me. ;)

Lucy is my mom's shadow. If my mom is not around she will attach herself to me, but otherwise she is definitely my mom's dog. Even just taking her for a walk it is so obvious she wants to be with my mom. If I walk her by myself, she lags behind and has to constantly be encouraged. If my mom walks her, she trots right by her side. If I walk her and my mom is with and is ahead of us walking Juno or something, Lucy is at the end of the leash trying to get up to my mom.

Lilly and Travis are very bonded to Paul. Riley seems to be mine for now, but that can change any time.
It sucks because all three are technically my dogs, but Lilly and Travis prefer Paul.

Travis used to be a mommys boy, but has switched in the past few months.
