Oh Smkie, it DOES remind me of Beautiful Joe :( I loved that book as a child, and the part of the story with his ears being docked made me swear I'd never have that done to any dog of mine.

I just don't get WHY people insist on cropping their dogs ears at home. Disgusting.

I don't particularly like cropping at all, but that is a horrible job and I can't imagine anyone with skill getting that as a result. :(

Uf! That's definitly a crappy home job! Disgusting! I dont understand why some people think its ok to just go around hacking ears...I know some people who do home jobs BUT they do it very cleanly, very properly, minimal pain, it heals properly and IMO they do it even better than some vets!

Now, just my opinion, but I think dobes look better with cropped ears than they do without. Ben disagrees, but I seriously think that dobes look better with cropped ears.
I agree with you. Dobes, Dogos and Boxers are 3 breeds that I think look better cropped. I just have thing about full-drop ears, which those breeds tend to have if left natural. (ETA: Danes, too.)

That's a horrible looking crop... poor pup. I'm all for cropping if it's done correctly, but I hate when people do it and don't have a clue how.

I feel the luck on him, seemed he got the attention and love he needs. Blame on his crazy owner before.

OMG. Ewww. That just looks horrible... not to mention, painful, and sloppy. She still has stitches in, so it was obviously done recently. Probably with no pain meds, either. D=

It is amazing what people do to their animals for stupid aesthetic reasons.

I have to agree that that crop job looks terrible, but unless there is some proof that it was done without anesthetic, I don't see how it is more or less abusive than any other crop. Does anyone honestly think a dog would submit to having his ears cut off so that they would look good? Or that he would look in the mirror, see his handsome new mug and decide it really wasn't such a bad deal after all? On the other hand, if that poor puppy ever gets her paws on a mirror, she is going to need therapy :lol-sign:
