3. I think we could handle a 4th but DH isn't having any of it and we'd need to wait until the ages space out again anyway. If I were just by myself, my ideal would be 2 I think, but with DH I don't feel so bad leaving one or two home alone while I work with the others.

After reading some other posts, I didn't think to enter the Std Poodle I had foster for just a bit, so that would be 4 dogs in total. Now it's just 3.

Three. When we went back down to 2 I thought 2 was my ideal number, but now that we have 3 again I'm really loving it.

7 adults and a litter of 8 puppies. We're down to five at the moment and I really can't see it rising above five at any point in the future. Once I've moved out with my three, I'm not even sure if my parents are planning on getting any more dogs but I seriously doubt they will have any more than one or two.

For me personally I would love to have just one dog because I find it so overwhelming with so many. I think how brilliant Fudge, Taz or Scamp could have been if they had been my only dog and I'm sad for how much they've missed out on.

I've had up to 6 living with us before, but not all were permanent. Our highest number of permanent dogs has been four, and I wouldn't go any higher than that (with the breeds I'm interested in).

House-sitting I've taken care of up to 14 dogs at once, though. I crated and rotated 7 at a time, as that was a more manageable number for one person. And when I house-sit for my Doberman breeder I've had anywhere from 3-12 dogs at a time (only 2 were hers, the rest were boarders).

Lived with 4.
These 2 are my first 2 dogs of my own though and I like 2. I'd like it more if I could take them places together.
We will probably be back to 4 this year though and maybe 5 on weekends depending wheather or not my brother gets his chi to share his truck.

Three. I had my Sheltie and the two Border Collies for awhile. Then she passed on and it was just the two boys, then we got Miley. I couldn't ever live with two dogs that would fight as much as Spank and Bandit. I will admit I didn't manage them properly so a huge part of that was my fault but still. Too much fo a head ache. I could do a combo like Bandit and Miley. Both easy dogs. No more than two ever.

3--and it was easier than I would have thought, but I think that is due to the dogs involved. We are at 2 now--and I have to say I miss having 3.

I've had up to 7 dogs in the house at once. I'm living with four now.

1 is my ideal number. I'm moving soon so it will be just Duke and I.. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm always happy to have Boomer and McGruff but it is exhausting, I don't know how people do it long term. I think I'll never go over 2, and I doubt I'll add a second before Duke is 5ish.

12 Was the most, when we had six of our own, four fosters, and I was babysitting my sister's two.Puppy party! For a few years, weusually maintained between 6 and 8 dogs at a time. I don't like to have one or two fosters at a time.

Again, they tend to be split up between caregivers. I've always had my two, plus my 1-2 fosters, and my parents' four.
