It's still a bit odd to me that most people seem to celebrate on Christmas day here. When I was a kid, we had the big meal on Christmas' Eve (and opened presents then once we were older), and Christmas was mostly a relaxing day with a lighter meal.
Anyway, Monday night we're going to one of hubby's friends who always has their house open to guests on Christmas Eve. Tuesday we were supposed to just spend the afternoon with his brother's family in Philly but the house they rented has stairs, so MIL can't go there, so we're doing the restaurant first here at 2pm, then dropping MIL off, then driving over there for the evening and having a light Christmas meal. I'm not too excited about it, it's a long drive to just spend 2 hours there (guessing the kids will be really bored after that), and BIL will have to spend 3 hours in the train for a 1.5 hour restaurant meal. Can't really do it here either because it's not really safe for MIL with the dog, the stairs, and toys all over (especially on Christmas). And SIL really wanted us to go there for dinner. So we're going.
Looking forward to the kids opening their presents but it kinda stinks they'll only have a few hours to enjoy them before we have to go for the rest of the day.
