We had to wait two long weeks but our gentle giant finally made it home yesterday. He has some seperation issues but for a rescue thats no surprise! Here he is at the pound...

You can see we need to fatten him up a bit.

That shirt by the way is a ladies size 6 - hes pretty big! Right now I ma just trying to find something that will inspire him to play, so far he mostly ignores the toys and pigs ears weve tried.

I have to admit, despite all my APBTs & the few non-APBT dogs I own, I've never owned a Bassett Hound but one day I will. There's an AWESOME rescue here in Louisiana that we will go to when the time is right. Until then, we just have our Bassett Hound dog cookie jar to keep us company.

Thank you everyone! The dog warden picked him up, and he was even microchipped but the old owners moved and never updated the information. They guess that he has been roaming the streets for months, he was thin and had worms and you can see some of his white fur (especially under his neck) is stained from laying in dirt. I did all my research on bassets before we got him and I read that they are very stubborn, but so far amazingly he is the most obdient dog ive ever had! I tell him No and he instantly walks away from whatever it is! (With the exception of the front door, that nose gets a whiff of outside and hes gone!) He goes nuts at the phrase "byebye", and He seems to be housebroken as well, I wonder if maybe he did have a nice home but they had to move out of state and lost him or something. But so far he seems to be an answer to prayer! Hes so great!
