The types of walks HE gives are not mentally stimulating. The dogs can't sniff and I've seen episodes where he hurts the dog for looking at another dog. The dog has to keep it's head down and walk at a slow pace (for a dog) by his side without so much as sniffing for a potty spot or else he gets attacked by Cesar, no mental stimulation whatsoever.
Exactly. I saw an episode once where he had a dog by the slip collar and when the dog turned his head ever so slightly (and cautiously) to the left (he was going to look at something across the street I think) he got a sharp, upward yank on his trachea. He was forced to stroll along at a snail's pace and look straight ahead or down the entire walk. Training a dog to give you attention at certain times is one thing but he should enjoy doing that and enjoyment doesn't come from pain and force. But to rob a dog of any normal interaction ever... with the environment as he walks along is just cruel and unnatural.:( Of course, granted, you see him skateboarding with dogs and then they look like they're having fun. So, maybe it's his feeling that these "red zone" (translation: simply undertrained) dogs need "discipline" first, then fun. And most of us think discipline (teaching) goes along with fun or that learning should be fun and can be.

I hate Cesar Milan with a burning passion. Not only do I think he's a terrible trainer, I think he's downright DANGEROUS to the public. I know a handful of people who have tried to use his methods and after a while just been bitten. His methods can CAUSE D/A and I'm sure have been terrible for the anti-BSL movement.

I actually really love Victoria Stillwell. Sure, I disagree with some things and let my dogs sleep on my bed, etc. but in a society of people who let their dogs and kids get away with ANYTHING her methods work.

I've never seen VS, so no comment there. The only thing about Brad I agree with is telling families to get off their butts and take responsibility for their dog's problems. I don't like the way he treats the animals; Dogs understand the "or else" tone and aren't following direction because they trust him, they seem timid. As for Cesar, I like his books better than his show. The basic pshycology works: be confident and in charge, and your dogs will gladly follow! I didn't get how my lack of confidence diminished their faith in me. No talk, no touch, no eye contact seems mean. Marlee would be sick with neglect in hours if I didn't lovingly pat her head whenever I went by and that would NOT improve her behavior!

I voted for VS. I like her. Her methods work much better, and they are positive and not abusive.

This is the first time I have even heard about Brad. OMG, those videos were sickening!! What a cruel jackass..and what idiot owners. If he ever did that to my dogs, I would beat the **** out of him.

Unfortunately, once something is on TV, many will blindly follow! If they've got a show, they must know what they're doing, right?!:(
