My parents elderly GSD, Patriot, bloated this afternoon. I'm at my parent's house, getting ready to go to a show, and was making bacon. Patriot was in the back yard, my sister said, "Why's he drooling?"

His abdomen was hard, and he's in distress. My dad and Donny took him to an e-vet nearby. I stayed here to help keep an eye on Zoey, Elsie and Sheila (my parents other GSD).

If they recommend surgery, I'm not sure if he'd survive it, and I'm not sure if my dad would choose to put him through that.

My mom pointed out that with his name, the 4th of July should have been a good day for him.

We're pretty upset.

So sorry for your parents' loss. Bloat is one of the things I fear most with my dogs since the closest e-vet is an hour away.
