I am not talking about Dizzy our member, but vertigo. I got used to taking the insulin, doesn't bother me anymore, because it works so very well and gives me a nice sense of control over the delightful diabetes. And I am fortunate in having no insulin resistance so I have to take really small doses.
So that's all good. I am also planning to go to a cardiologist like I should to get my paroxysmal tachycardia problem taken care of. See, I am going to doctors, making appointments and generally behaving. Then last night I felt kind of crappy.
This morrning I was a little lightheaded but I went to work anyway, and on the way there it got a lot worse, so bad that I got onb the b train instead of the d train and ended up God only knows where in Brooklyn. I had to backtrack and was late for morning report and then could not walk and stand well enough to work, so I went home.
I stayed on the d train one stop too long and had to backtrack again and came home and went to my internist. The only thing she could find is that I am orthostatic and my blood pressure lying down is 120/88- which sounds ok, except usually it is 90/60 because I take enalapril to protect my kidneys and I do not have high blood pressure. orthostatic means my blood pressure drops by more than twenty points when i switch from lying down to sitting.
So she told me to reduce the dose of enalapril and take antivert-which never works for anyone. We still dion't know what the problem is and I have to take another day off of work, which is ok, but I am on call on Sunday and we have tickets to a Broadway show on Friday for our twenty eighth anniversary.
Please wish me luck and send vibes that this just goes away and does not turn into some big deal. And Chaz vibes might be helpful.
I love my job very, very much and would not like it threatened by some crap like this. Also my whole family is depending on me doing well.
And now a small to moderate brag. You know I haven't worked as a doc for over ten years. So I thought I would be horrible at the beginning. It has not been as bad as I expected by a long shot. And I was on call on Saturday for twenty four hours with an attending I like and respect. At morning sign outs he informed me that i was "impressive" right in front of everyone including the director of the emergency room. I was so pleased with myself.......
