I was responding to this statement......it is almost a threat......
So, that is why certain breeds get a bad reputation....
no, that is not why certain breeds get a bad reputation. They get a bad reputation by being bred and sold by careless ignorant avaricious people to the wrong people who then allow dogs to end up in situations where bad things happen. Media coverage and other public exposure is what fuels the public's attitude and perception of certain breeds. I spend hours every single week having my dogs out in the public eye presenting a positive image. I am also a pretty visible presence on the net, again, posting photographs and video clips which present the Rottweiler in a positive light.
I made the statement that I have some dogs here who would not be amused with someone who confronted them with behaviors that CM often uses in his "training". My dogs are Rottweilers. Granted, they are well bred, socialized, trained, and behaved, however, they are still Rottweilers. They would not tolerate this sort of gross disrespect by a stranger without standing up to it. That is part of what makes them a Rottweiler, and not say, a Labrador Retriever.
I would not expect my dogs to lunge at and bite someone who behaved in this manner, however, I would not be the slightest bit surprised if they advanced, with direct eye contact and a bark or a growl.
My dogs are well trained and easily controlled, however, they are Rottweilers of correct temperament.
Nothing I stated in my post was any sort of threat, only facts about my personal dogs, and the breed of my choice.
All those out there who think it's a good idea to point fingers, hiss at, stomp feet, and in general make obnoxious dominant threat displays to Rottweilers, raise your hand.
