Has anyone ever been tempted to look and/or buy something from a spam post on a forum?

I haven't.

I've never clicked on a spam link before, but I'm sure that others have fallen for it.

I mean, look at the people who fall for those African money scams? If people are willing to send thousands of dollars to a stranger in another country, surely they'll click on a link promising $20 Nikes.

Sometimes spam links aren't there to actually get an individual to spend money, but they may get paid for the traffic count to a site. If they can send out thousands of spam posts with the right software in seconds, they will get at least some hits from the folks at the other ends. It's all about the dollar.

No, I don't click on spam links like Nike and stuff.

But sometimes people accuse some of the dog-related product links posted in the Dog Sites forum of being spam, just because it's the person's first post or something, and I don't think that's always the case. Sometimes I think that business owners are just trying to get word out for their product, and this is certainly a good site to advertise dog related items. I have seen some interesting products posted there.

On those, I move ONE post to the websites forum. The rest get canned. Personally, I wouldn't knowingly spend any money with someone who came here and only posted a bunch of posts/threads to sell their product, especially if it's something that a REAL Chazzer sells.

Oh, and those $20 Nikes and other shoes? THere's pretty much 0 chance that they aren't cheap counterfeits or stolen.

I watch hulu alot. ANd propel has an ad that sticks quite well for me. THey give a commerical free viewing. THat is way more affective with sticking the product name in my mind. Spammers should learn something from that.

As a rule, I don't do business with a company that spams me, either in emails or on forums. Same way that I won't do business with telemarketers or with direct mail marketers. Advertise on TV, in the papers, with Banner ads (non-annoying banner ads, that is :) ) but don't blind email/call/mail me stuff and expect my money.
