I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good salve/lotion/magic potion for sensitive canine skin? Tango is tiny and he has thin sensitive skin. His scar has had a couple of months to heal so it shouldn't be quite as pink as it is (I think?) Is there anything I can apply to his scar area to keep is from chafing in the cold weather? He is very small and his hair is still growing back on this front right chest quarter so he has to wear a coat outside at night. I'm wondering if the coat is the cause of the chafing? It is fleece lined so I'm a little perplexed! He also has small calluses on the back of his knees which I think is because he likes to spend a lot of time in what I call his "meerkat" pose where he sits/stands on this back legs to get a better look at things.

Ideas?

I know about fish oil and want to start him on some soon just to keep his joints healthy. I'm just not sure what the dose would be for a dog his size?

Halo sells a healing salve called Cloud Nine that I really like.

Coconut oil also helps with skin issues. You can give it in food and rub it on the affected area.

I agree about the fish oil it's been tremendously helping Violet with her skin issues. It's 1000 mg per 20lbs so you might have to find some small pills because mine are 1000mg per pill.

Internally I would do Vit E, Fish Oil, and MSM...maybe add coconut oil too.

Externally I would make a salve of coconut oil, vitamin e, and lavender eo. You could get much more complicated in the salve (I LOVE making salves!!) but that would be a simple good one.

Where would I find some of these things? I know where I can get fish oil but not argan oil, coconut oil, lavender essential oil, or vit. e in oil form?

Vitamin E, just use the capsules. Puncture and squeeze the oil out for extrenal use.

Coconut oil, my grocer carries it..but also should be easy to find, along with the lavender, at health food or natural stores...of course online is always good too:)

Vit E externally should help quite a bit too. You can find coconut oil in the cooking oil section of your grocery store.

I'd think any type of natural food store would carry argan oil; I've been hearing a lot about this stuff lately.

So Tango's package from Sael arrived today and it has a supplement powder in it! I think I'll try that out for internal first and look for the external oils on Friday :)
