I feel like if you don't own a rare breed, a bully breed, or a herding breed well your just boring. But like I said thats just how I feel.
I can say I agree with this very much. Most of my topics are lucky to get 2 replys...I know that at least three have gotten zero all together. My biggest topic only got 3 pages or w/e of replys because I was doing something many were against, but I'm with Zoom. I enjoy posting my pictures because although I don't always get the best photos, I have some I do feel proud of, and I just enjoy sharing.

I try to post on all the picture topics as well, but sometimes I lurk and don't right away. I may te next day or something after they're posted. :]

I don't think you should be able to delete anything whether you wrote it or someone else did. Lock the thread if you must, but deleting is just childish. The only instance I can see for deletion is if somebody is at risk for personal harm, ie stalkers or ex's, otherwise, think before you hit send.
I don't know anything about what foxy said or how those threads transpired, but I will say that I do believe there are some circumstances where deleting threads is okay. I for one was grateful that some of the mods went out of their way to delete some threads for me that needed to be deleted for personal reasons I can't get into on a public forum. But it didn't affect ANYONE on here at all. At the time when I wrote them I was just venting about 2 certain people who have been a thorn in my side for a few years now and I said things that could have been taken out of context and twisted all around in court and I wanted to avoid that.

But with that being said, I think mods should be held to a higher standard because they are the ones that are enforcing the rules and are suppose to set a good example.

I, for one, wish Foxy would come back and explain. It takes a lot to man up and admit to lying. I know I would brush straight past it if she were to come back and explain everything, from the beginning.
I hope she lied about Ruby's heart problem. I really really do!

That's the way I feel about it too Nancy. Anyone can get frustrated, lose their temper, say things they wish they hadn't, and Mods are human too..........but they should be held to a higher standard than others because they DO have certain privileges and powers.

We live in a world where we see first hand what happens when powers are misused.
Look at all the cop stories? the politician scandals? the teachers sleeping with students? the list can go on of course. And I MOST DEFINITELY do look at people in authority committing those offenses differently than I would look at a 'regular' person, and we SHOULD. They were given trust, not just a job.

I, for one, wish Foxy would come back and explain. It takes a lot to man up and admit to lying. I know I would brush straight past it if she were to come back and explain everything, from the beginning.
Agreed, and I think many feel the same way.

WOW.

AS to pics not responded to, or threads not responded to, that happens to me all the time. For awhile I thought you all didn't like Victor at all. I think people read way to much into that. THere are times when I don't post because I am freaking tired. I do a run through..answer a few sometimes I leave no reply because there is not enough time in the day to respond to them all.
Mods being held to a higher standard..sorry I think we are all held to a high standard as we should be. If it were that way our jobs would be easier. Being a mod means that first thing in the morning I get up and do a run through to get rid of spam. I check in periodically through the day to check for spam and trouble. THat's my higher standard because I CARE about this place.
Should we be able do delete our own threads..no. Go back and edit old threads, no. But the rest..sheeeesh. I doubt you would find better people if you paid them. THis to me is the same place, with the same goals. I have seen people mess up here and grow to become incredible. I have seen opinions change because of info posted which is cool too. You get what you put in to it. Sometimes you get disappointed by people. That's life.

I agree with the idea of pictures. I don't have amazing photography, or a Dobe, Pittie, or Pappillon, so my posts don't get many comments. I posted about an accomplishment Suzie overcame, it wasn't responded to. I often feel that the old time members are part of a pact or something, like a hard shell I can't get into, and that makes me scared to post.

And while we are on the topic of confessions, I still feed Suzie a crappy food. I have thought of changing it, but Suzie has a fabulous shiny coat, and is doing just fine on it. If we get another dog and it can't eat it, we will switch. And she isn't spayed.

I wasnt going to post in this thread b/c, although I visit daily and have been on here for years I dont post a whole lot and I usually stay out of the breed stuff since I dont know much about it but I am so.....shocked, disappointed, I ..........I dont know what to say. I sort of thought Foxy walked on water. She seemed to know everything about everything. (plants, gardens, fish, dogs, rodents, etc.) I am just baffled. Its so crazy!

Did anyone see this in the cresty link?
(ruby is already spayed)
I am sure you did, thats why it was linked, to reveal lies but, wow. To just straight out lie like that!

Does anyone think she's coming back? I, for one, dont wish to run her off and I dont, by any means, think I am perfect but I just question all the advice I was ever given by her. I am just plain shocked. Not angry, shocked and curious.

I have always felt the same about not being able to penetrate the inner circle. Of course, I don't even have a dog anymore. I never talk about that but it wasn't a secret. She was rehomed during the whole marital seperation, family on the brink of falling apart, thing. I dont think I will ever own another. If I do it will not be for many years when Chloe is mature enough to help out and we own a house, etc.

Hey, I DO have a dobe and my picture threads don't receive overwhelming response :p (true I don't post many pictures any more though, LOL)

I could pull up more than one of my threads that didn't receive a response, or very minimal attention. It happens........a lot of it is timing IMO. I think it's easy to notice our own threads get ignored, but you don't realize EVERYONE'S threads get ignored sometimes ;)

EDIT: And for the record, when Orson first came to live with us he was fed Purina One. I have seen it recommended by other dobe owners as a matter of fact........and not just random owners, owners of show dogs and good forum members. :)

I have chihuahuas, which aren't very liked on here... I still post picture threads even when I don't get many responses.

I'll admit that I don't have nearly enough time to reply to every picture thread (or even many of them). I do look at loads of them, though, if that counts.

And hey, thats a double edged sword. Off the top of my head I find Laurelin gets lots of attention to her threads... but look how many she posts! She posts a lot. So naturally she would get more attention then someone who rarely posts because she posts more. I know lots about her dogs, her families dogs, their future plans for future dogs etc. I think its only natural to discuss things more when you remember the name and face of what you are talking about.

I tend to stick around the fire hydrant and never go into the chat room. I am a down right goof and a real quirk pot. I get along well with a lot of people but I am not everyone's cup of tea.

In the "what breeds would you never own" thread they usually come close to the top of the list.

Not to mention, they've been brought up in lots of threads as yappy little dogs.

I know that a lot of people do like them, but I also know that people tend to think the worst of them. I try my best to be a good advocate when it comes to them, because they are really, really great dogs. Definitely my 'heart breed' and nothing like the stereotypes people normally think of.

Chat blows up my computer. So as not to disrupt the dainty little flower she is, I respect her wishes to not enter. If I could I probably would as it seems pregnancy keeps me on the couch lots as I get dizzy. Hee. Hence my activity level on Chaz lately. You guys keep me sane... well. As sane as I'll ever be!

I can only remember going on chat once actually, and I don't talk to anyone outside of here. No ones on my facebook or msn. Not that I am against having anyone having that even. It's just never come up.

I don't have a comment on the whole debacle that's going on as I'm waiting for Foxy to (hopefully) come back. But, I've seen the inner circle topic come up at least three times since I've been here and it NEVER changes. When it really starts bothering me I take breaks because it's generally not worth beating your head against the wall but it is really intimidating to the new people here. And the discussion here can get pretty.....vicious.....is the word that comes to mind. I never told you guys that I fed my dogs purina when I joined, or that I used a prong on Murphy. I changed both of those things because I realized there were better ways to do things but I didn't want to tell you because I thought I'd get shunned.

offtopic rant

And yeah there's totally a clique here. And it's made up of the people that go "Oh you're beautiful" "no you are" "no really it's you" and basically fawn all over each other while I'm sitting back going ok....really? Is that really necessary? I get it, you like each other, you get along with each other and your dogs are more beautiful than my dogs. It feels like a high school popularity contest around here sometimes and it really bugs me.

Everyone should be a good advocate for their breed. I personally have known one very brave chi that got into a man's face that was beating his wife. I almost never blame the dog if there is behavior problems, i point to the owner.

i am real close to taking one of those breaks. This whole business has given me a headache.

I have a Border Collie and rarely get that many comments. Not near what Finn, Steve, Rory, etc get. Maybe it's because he's a boring black and white? Who knows, but I like my photography and my dogs, so I'll keep posting.

JRTs often come up in the 'never own' breeds. Doesn't stop me from posting about Dekka and the other JRTs ;) I would never likely own a chi, that doesn't mean I don't love tucker pics!!

Just cause someone doesn't want to live with a breed doesn't mean they can't admire them. (there are loads of breeds on here I wouldn't want but love to see pics of)

ETA: for pic threads that get lots of responses my observations:

The pics are interesting, they show more than just a dog. Either the photography is interesting, or the setting or pose is.

There is a story to go with the pics, or funny headings.

there aren't 10 pics of the nearly the same pose.

THe poster has posted a lot about the dog so we have a good sense of who the dog is when we look at the pics (ie think of Mia).

I look at almost all pic threads, but only comment if there is a 'reason' to comment. I like seeing chaz dogs I just don't often have things to say...
