So, does the fact that so many people have this, make it okay for young people, especially teens, to use just to get a trip?

Should we legalize everything then?

It's not just potential. It's a rising occurance, and that's been noted several times.
I do not believe that it should be completely illegalized, since I have seen it's good purposes put to use by RESPONSIBLE people.

But children don't know how to use this.
Come to think of it, marijuana isn't actually illegal. It can be legally used and grown considering the person. Perhaps similar laws should be put on this particular type of salvia. I can show a good long list of sites that promote the use of salvia as a hallucinogen, they specifically go into detail on how it trips a person out. They sell it in bulk. This is where my kid and her friend got it from. They got it easily delivered with no problems at all.
Not surprisingly, you can do this with almost every drug now, but that's not to say there isn't a consequence if caught. With this, there is no consequence, because there are absolutely no laws.

Pack your bags Grammy youre going to prison! A free vacation brought to you by the American voters! You will never have to work or cook another day! We will provide entertainment 3 hots and a cot. It gets better! We can all sleep better at night with people like you put in jail and a evidence room full of sage brush.

There was some sarcasm there if anyone missed it.

Were there not consequences when you caught your child? That's where the 'law' needs to be . . . the responsibility of the family.

All drug laws ever accomplish is the creation of criminals.

Do you think your childs life would be better in a jail somewhere? Do you think your child being in jail would somehow make society safer?

LOL!! Buckyboy !! Don't think I didn't think of prison when I was facing being homeless !!! Only thing that kept me from a crime was the thought that my dogs wouldn't be allowed . My problem with these new " highs" are the teens involved who don't know the effects nor the consequences . Even as an adult I don't try things that could hook me .....cigarettes did .... that's too much for me .

Back then, Grammy, it was impossible to know what cigarettes actually were . . . now it's nearly impossible to AVOID information about virtually anything . . . And even then, weren't most parents rabidly against their kids smoking?

If my daughter were extremely in depth with drugs, and was caught with this, then yes. If it were against the law, she should spend a little time in jail. Everyone knows drug sentences are unfortunately not very well enforced in many places.

I do my job very well as a parent.
But I'm not going to sit here and say that something that has similar if not the same short-term effects as ecstacy is okay to use. Ever.
Perhaps if you found it in your child's room, you'd be a little more concerned.

The thing is - YOU found it. YOU passed out the consequences. YOU were being a parent. That is where it should happen. Every time people start begging the government to take care of them and go get the boogey man we end up with a situation that is far worse . . .

Go back and look at how well Prohibition worked . . .

Just keep being a good, mindful parent like you have been. Just think, if your daughter got to spend some time in jail she'd probably come out with some really kickin' recipes for homemade meth . . .

Meth? Maybe in prison. Doubtful in jail.

Finding this just lets me know she's afraid of harder drugs. I have that on my side. She knows it too.

Oh, don't kid yourself. She'd learn every bit as much in jail as in prison - maybe more. I've spent a lot of time down in jails talking with clients and interviewing witnesses . . . and listening - to what goes on on both sides of the bars. Besides, so many jails now subsidize themselves by taking in federal and state prisoners . . .

Renee .... yes , parents didn't want kids to smoke , but would let them have a puff now and then . I actually hated it ( except for hits off my cousins Kools ) , but when I went to College at 18 I picked it up to be accepted in what was known as the " Smoker " . There was no smoking in our rooms and at 10 PM a bell would ring and we could got there and play cards, smoke etc . I had a single room and wanted to meet people and have fun . Someone said , " why are you here , you don't smoke "....so I bought my first pack . I then met Tom who did smoke .... couldn't stand his breath , so took offered puffs and cigarettes. I really didn't smoke much ... morning with coffee... evening when out with a drink .... until about 1964 . Tom had the mumps , I had a 1 yr/ 3 yr and 6 yr old .... 3 dogs , a business , and my world fell in on me . I was really stressed out and it relaxed me . Then I was hooked . I hate my weakness and I'm working on quiting . Luckily , I'm luckily it hasn't affected my health ....yet ! Maybe I've got enough asbestos lining my lungs !! LOL !! I promise .... I will quit !
