What do you guys think of roller blading with your dogs?

Izzie and i roller blade together. She LOVES it! Loves running along with the wind in her ears. I find it hilarious, people look at us so weird! They're so used to seeing Border Collies and Huskies with people roller blading, not a Pug! However the people that see her can't deny how athletic she is (even if they don't believe she's pure Pug, then again alot of people don't think she's pure anyways).

We went tonight even, and a dude thought she was a Siamese Cat... So a cat is more likely to roller blade with their human than a Pug? LOL! It was funny. She was poopered for a while, but now she's decided to bother me and want to play ball, i better fulfil her wish.

Here's some pictures of the poopered puggy puppy when we just got home.

AHH The though of it scares the crap outa me. Actually just roller blading scares the crap outa me. I have a fear of falling!

But I think if you can do it safely than go for it and I bet its alot of fun! I would rather take the dogs quading and let them run behind it to tire them out lol and its more cushy for me!

I would do it with Buster if 1. I could rollerblade and 2. I had enough control over him. But I know if he see's another dog I really don't need to be on wheels. I'm going to do a lot of biking wiht my next dog though.

OMG If I could roller blade that would be HELLA fun. And he might be tired after :D :D that would be great.

I thought about it after seeing the dog whisperer on his roller skates (?) the first time... but I never really got around to it.

Walker and I used to skate 5 miles or so once a week when I lived in florida. And hopefully when I move back we will start again (i dont have my blades here and wouldnt ship them unless I had to) my skates are my babies LOL ;) I used to play roller hockey and that is actually where Walker got socialized there a ton. I actually have to hide my blades from him if I dont want to be bugged to go LOL.

I picked "too dangerous" because for ME, it IS too dangerous! I liked rollerblading as a kid but was never very good at it. I'd like to re-learn how, but I also live in a VERY hilly neighborhood so I'd have to drive somewhere flatter to do it. Plus Luna's not crazy about distance running... she's happier with the short sprints and zoomies.

Yea its not safe for someone who is not confident on blades at all. I played roller hockey for about 5 years and have been blading since i was like 6. Im more confident in my skating then I am my walking. LOL

I can't rollerblade at all. I've tried, and it's just not for me apparently, LOL. But if I could, it'd be an awesome way to exercise Ripley! I've been at my wits end trying to come up with ways to tire him out, so have recently taken up jogging with him in the evenings. Works pretty well (will be better once he's more conditioned -- we're starting out slow), but rollerblading would be more fun and easier on the joints probably if I could get myself coordinated enough!

I have gone roller blading with Gavroche before. It's fun! But, since I am an accident waiting to happen and have horrible balance (this is coming from the person who sprained her ankle a week ago just running though the house...), 1. I made sure Gavroche was leash trained well before we ever did it (I had him for about 3 months before I got the idea to do it), and 2. I use Nordik walking sticks to keep me upright :rofl1:

I need new rollerblades.

The next thing is the bike...I just started riding again after not riding in about 10 years, and I can barely keep myself upright, so it'll be awhile before I add a dog to the mix, if I ever do ;)

Oh man I wish. What an awesome way to exercise the dogs. Not as boring as running. :p

But Juno just might kill me if we attempted it lol. I'd feel safer riding a bike with her but I don't have a bike. Soo we stick to walking haha.

Am I the only one who finds dogs are less reactive at high speeds? I used to take Spank and Bandit out. I wouldn't tie them too the bike, I'd just hold them in my left hand. That was about 100 pounds pulling at quite the speed. Spank was extremely dog reactive on a lead but biking he wouldn't bat an eye. We'd be going by them so fast he wouldn't even notice. Him and Bandit were too foccused on each other and running along the bike to think about another dog.

Now I bike with Bandit off and on lead. He's such a good boy to take out with me. I love it.

I couldn't do it, we have notoriously bad sidewalks and roads here due to the frost upheaval and even our boardwalk isn't smooth enough but more power to the people that can! Gunnar and I bike together a few miles a day weather permitting. Layla is to dumb, she gets run over by the front tire all the time or else pulls me down going after squirrels and birds.:yikes:

Thats how walker is too. If we are just walking he is more focused on what is going on around us. When we are blading he is concentrating on me and where I am and where I plan to go.

Well if I knew how to roller blade I would be all for it. But I don't know how. And honestly it scares me because I have a bad ankle/foot that is prone to dislocating. So I doubt I will be trying to learn either. I also live in a hilly neighborhood. And our roads/sidewalks are so rough. It would be all bad lol.

But it does look like alot of fun!

I did bike with my dogs when I was a young teen. That is something I would like to work on with Sawyer especially.

If I'd enjoy having my face meet the ground then I'd love to do it! I'm not the best roller bladder as it is & 100lb excited dog + me on wheels doesn't sounds like a good idea. :p

Personally no, but otherwise I see absolutely no problem with it.
