I have a litter of Boston Terriers puppies. I self docked the tails at 1 week old. I have one male that has regrown his tail back. My question now is they are 7 weeks old and I want to redock this puppies tail. Can I redock this puppies tail the same way as the first time? Or is there any dangers I should be aware of?

umm..talk to your vet would be my suggestion

I dont think docking can be done that late! since the spine isnt as soft and easily removed as when they are so young

and ive NEVER heard of tails growing back

so talk to your vet

At 7 weeks that puppy needs to go under if he is going to be redocked.

Also, puppies should be docked closer to 3 days, not 1 week.

I thnk Bostons are a naturally short tailed breed..you shouldn't be docking them at all, regardless of age.

At this age, if you are insistent that it needs a short tail, a vet will need to do it as a surgical procedure and the pup will require pain meds.

ETA that I have never heard of a tail 'regrowing'...puppies are not lizards

BT are a naturally tailess breed, I believe.
Tails and dewclaws should be done at 3-5 days old, no later.
At this age, no a re-dock cannot be done without going under anesthesai and cutting through bone to remove it now.

The tail should not have grown back, even a bad dock job wont do that. Dewclaws are a different story :)

I have heard thate dobe tails can grow back. Its not a true growing back just a really bad crop.

You can NOT re dock the tails at this age yourself. It MUST be done by a vet.

Something very fishy about this post.
^Agreed. After 6 weeks you just notice... do you just not spend any time with the puppies at all or something?

1: likely this is a troll, but there may be curious readers

2: Bostons are a naturally bobbed breed, no need to dock so what you have arnts pure bred bostons

3: tails should ideally be done no later than 3 days of age, while they can be done up to 5 days, 3 is best!

4: you would have noticed that this dogs tail had "grown back" if that were even possible, if it seems like its crown back you did a real bad dock job...

5: at this age its not DOCKING is AMPUTATION, and can only be done By a vet under a general anesthesia, theres a huge risk for infection now that mums not cleaning them throughly due to the location of the wound, and because of the puppies age a cone will have to be worn to stop him bothering it, a tail amputation also takes a stralgly long amount of time to heal.

after 3 days, tails should only be amputated if theres a medical need (ie broken tail)

What is the purpose of docking in the first place?. Makes no sense to me to take something away.

Some breeds are docked according to breed standards. This is done to follow the original look of the dog that was docked for a purpose.
Dobes are still docked to protect them while gaurding as well as some caucasion shepherds. It is done to follow standards.

If you would like to see the arguments on both sides, search docking and cropping.

There is a boston breeder on another board I'm on. Once in a while she gets a pup in a litter with a longer tail. She'll dock them, but it'll be a pet puppy either way.
