I guess by 'our side' I meant more specific breeders. I'm not versed well on the clubs for these mixes (I gave up on trying to figure out what they were doing the first time around that the ALA said 'we aint got it yet darnit'). I can believe that some breeders out there don't bring in other breeds at least. And that their dogs, while having variety, can breed true (maybe just to a point? I'm not entirely sure as I don't know any of these breeders), but what they want vs what the clubs want might be different.

Haha, is this making any sense outside of my own brain?

I agree though. It is extremely confusing to read that quote. And I honestly don't see how they are going to achieve any goals based on the breeding they are doing. It seems very flip-floppy to me.

I actually have no problem with labradoodles of either variety and I know from hearing Dekka talk about breeds and cross breeding in the past she doesn't seem to either. Just talking about what I've heard from doodle people.

We have a family friend that breeds doodles of the lab x poodle type. F1 and F1B. I honestly can't see a difference between F1B doodles and standard poodles though I'm sure there are some. Then again I can't tell shih tzus and lhasas apart either so...

I have no issue with them either, though I am getting a bit tired of seeing them in shelters because their owners surrendered them after being told they were completely hypoallergenic guaranteed etc etc and they turned out not to be. But, with so many BYBs involved in the mixing trend (ESPECIALLY the allergy-free trend) I guess it is to be expected.

We had a little Labradoodle pup in our local shelter, just a few months old. He was a little heart stealer named Leo, and he got scooped up really fast.

I've never met a Labradoodle I didn't like, though. But I do prefer Standard Poodles over them, personally.

It's about 99% of the other mixes that really bother me.
The trademarking fad is too popular for my liking as well.

our side as in North America. The quotes I posted were either from the ALA (the Au one) or the ALAA the American one.

I have met a few Labradoodles I didn't like, could be lack of training. I knew of one that was in one of my puppy classes who had issues.. they turned to a e collar trainer to fix the problem (bad decision) and he ended up being PTS. Likely badly bred...I did have a goldendoodle in one of my classes I would have take home in a heartbeat lol.

I met a miniature Goldendoodle when I was in the states working in a kennel. I have never felt a dog quite as soft as she was. It was almost hard to believe she was even real. The way they had her cut, you'd have thought she were related to the Snuggle bear. She was a bit skittish, but suuuuch a sweetheart.

Since moving up here, I haven't seen any Labradoodles/Goldendoodles at all though. I live just across from the guide dog facility, but I've only ever seen Labradors as usual there. I did see a Belgian walk into the building once though.

In a different direction from more established mixes though; have you guys seen that 'American Lo-Sze Pugg (TM)' dog? :\ It's been around for a while, but lord.

Oh of course!

They are really not even attractive dogs to me.
I think the 'Ori-Pei' is another Pug-mix breed as well.
Oh yeah Ori-Pei is Pug x Shar Pei... Stupid stupid mix really. One breed with lots of health issues mixed with another with even more health issues...

I should have kept Smudge intact and gotten a mini poodle bitch of quality. Titled her up the wazoo to go with Smudge and sold my uber special cockapoos to the american australian labradoodle faction..

I could only be on board with this if you agreed to market them as Cockadoodles. *nod*

I don't have a problem with breeding mixes. I have a problem with poor breeding practices.

Well since you've coined the name.. you wanna be my business partner?

Dekka is still sad that we can't have whippacocks unless I get another boy .. or jackacocks.. :(

I like that the ALA and ALAA both mandate health testing. That is cool... The ALAA had different levels for breeders based on how much health testing they do..

But as far as I can see from both sites they are still breeding together a large amount of lord knows what.. not creating a breed that breeds true. I think that is a little sad in 40 years.
