Having now waded my way through this entire thread I believe Chazhound should put it in their rules that vegetarians, vegans and anyone who believes in animal rights is not welcome to comment on these boards. Please make it plan that we are not welcome and will be treated with the contempt that, in your opinions, we deserve to be treated.

I realise now why I dont come on here very often quite frankly for a mod to keep stirring such contempt for any poster is beyond me.

whoa. i don't read the board for one day and look and what happens! explosion!

anyway, i have read many forums in my days and if i ever came to one where i was "always" innocent and "always" attacked every time i said something, i would leave and find a different forum. why would i stick around? sucker for punishment? especially if i was a really busy person who didn't have time to fully explain myself. if the forum is "bad," why be here?

as far as i can tell, the knee-jerk [and yes, immature] chuckles and comments are aimed at the insinuations that meat-eaters aren't all that bright and love less - not aimed at vegetarians as a whole. in my short time on the forum, it seems to me that there are plenty of respected people on here that are veggie.

Everyone is welcome here.

What is the one thing that we allll have in common?

LOVE of DOGS.

So, for someone to tell me that I lack compassion for animals because I eat meat is not only a smack in the face, but is so to every meat-eating member on this board.

Does anyone get that?

I do not have, nor hold contempt for Madilyn'sMom. She is welcome to post and she is welcome to share her opinions, but her personal attacks on meat-eaters is beyond old and will no longer be tolerated by myself, nor should it be tolerated at ALL on a board such as this.

Time and time again, these types of threads come up and who do we have constantly bashing and putting down meat eaters but the very subject of this post. Fine, I get it. She is an animal rights activist and hates meat eaters and believes meat eaters hold no compassion for animals. Whatever. Let that be her belief.

Being a moderator does NOT take away my right to hold my opinion, nor to express it, nor to defend myself.

If one can not stand the heat of the kitchen, it is often that they suggested they get the hell out.

So, Madilyn'sMom, (as well as others, such as Kase, Momof2Pups, mrose) is welcome to have a conversation with any of us regarding animal rights, vegans, vegetarians, etc. as long as she does not defame nor attack the character of people who do NOT share their same view. Ironically, she is the only one that seems to do it. THAT, is beyond me.

Our lifestyles are choices, made by ourselves. Madilyn'sMom chose to life a life devoid of meat and chooses to be an "activist." Great. That activism should not be that of coming on to a DOG FORUM, where thousands of dog-loving members are present and put each and every single one, that does not agree with her, nor live her lifestyle, down.

So, what Chazhound, should put in its rules, is that.. oh wait, it's already there;

1. Please be respectful to other members and moderators. You don’t have to like or agree with everyone, but please state your thoughts in a respectful manner. Absolutely no name calling. No personal attacks.
Oh heck, here is the list of Chazhound Forum Rules:

Chazhound Dog Forum Rules

Registration to the Chazhound Dog Forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

Although the administrators and moderators of Chazhound Dog Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of Chazhound Dog Forum, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. will be held responsible for the content of any message.

Chazhound Forum does not allow any post or messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of Chazhound Dog Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

Chazhound Forum Participation Guildlines:

1. Please be respectful to other members and moderators. You don’t have to like or agree with everyone, but please state your thoughts in a respectful manner. Absolutely no name calling. No personal attacks.

2. Do not “bash” new members because they don’t know about puppymills, backyard breeding or any other practice you may not agree with. Don't jump to conclusion about new members. They may not be a "troll" just because they ask a question that seems obvious to others. Education is the best way the change any problem.

3. If you are having a problem with a member contact a moderator. They are online throughout the day. You can find out who is a moderator under “Forum Leaders” on the main page. There is a “report post” button on each post which will send an email out to moderators and admin. You can also use the “ignore user” feature located in your User CP if you don’t want to deal with a particular member. Not everyone will get along at all times and this is a great feature in a lot of circumstances.

4. Moderators will deal with each circumstance as they come up. In most situations they will privately talk to individuals where necessary. If the issue is not resolved and the behavior continues, a time-out or permanent banning may be necessary. Moderators will weigh each case individually. Banning is avoided when possible, except with obvious trolls and spammers. Most of the moderator actions will be carried out privately to allow members who are given a temporary time-out and allowed to return to do so without public embarrassment.

5. If you are contacted by a Moderator about your actions on the forum you are expected to respond in a civil, rational manner. Failure to act accordingly will result in an immediate suspension of posting privileges.

6. Trolls. A troll is someone who comes to a forum and the majority of their posts are meant to cause trouble and upset people. If a member's first posts are along these lines they will be banned. If a regular member starts baiting other members they will be talked to and dealt with as necessary.

7. Spam. Chazhound does not allow not spam nor the solicitation of members through private messages or email. If the moderators hear reports of this, you will be banned.

8. If you have a website you would like to promote, feel free to post about it once in the dog sites forum and add the url to your signature. You can use that forum to give updates on your site. Any two threads about the same site will be merged together.

9. Signatures. Members are given a lot of freedom with signatures. If your signatures are causing problems (i.e. offensive material; size) with other members, please be respectful and modify it.

10. There shall be only one member using each account and each member should have only one account. If members are found to be using more than one account, it will be dealt with as necessary under the circumstances. Do not share your password. Only you should have access to your account. This helps to prevent the "my sister logged on and posted/spammed" sort of issue. If you would like to change your name or have a new account made, you must have an extremely good reason. Please PM the administration (Chazhound) and let them know so they can evaluate your request. Name changes can be done, but are rare and very confusing for other members. Special circumstances are required.
Furthermore, if there are any personal issues, with ANY members, take it to PM's.

I met a PETA person at an Expo once. I was there as part of an agility team with Flicka. Pepe wasn't competing, but he was there too. A couple of my friends and I were talking to her. She tried to tell me that:

A) "Forcing" my dogs to do agility runs is cruel.
B) "Forcing" my dogs to compete in obedience is cruel.
C) "Forcing" Flicka to be a therapy dog is cruel.
D) My diet, which has meat, is cruel.
E) My diet, which also consists of other animal products, like dairy, is cruel.
F) My animals diet, which also consists of a lot of meat, is cruel.
G) My animals diet, which also consists of other animal products, like dairy, is cruel.

Basically, I'm just a cruel person. :lol-sign:

Here's what I had to say:

A) They love it! They get so excited when they see the course, Flicka wriggles her entire body, and Pepe jumps like two feet off the ground, repeatedly. We practice on a regular schedule, and they know when it's time, and get so excited.
B) They are both people-pleasing dogs, and obedience trials give them a chance to show off their minds, as well as their bodies. They don't love it as much as agility, but they both do "happy dances" when they're competing.
C) Again, that is what she lives to do. She lives to be with people. She loves her therapy dog visits. When the harness goes on, she's totally focused. She'll go get her harness, and bring it to me in the middle of the day, because she wants to go. Pepe is also trained as a therapy dog. He didn't enjoy it. Therefore, he doesn't go. It's as simple as that.
D) I tried a vegetarian diet, for health reasons. It didn't work. My skin was awful, I was tired, and my hair, usually thick and shiny, became thin and dull.
E) See D.
F) See E.
G) See F.

OK.... consider it done.

Is it a coincidence that Vegan and Victim start with the same letter? it must be because Other than two people I don't see any other vegetarian or vegan ACTING in the manner in which one certain poster has acted... NOR are they getting their panties in a twist over nothing and playing the victim oppression card.

BTW, did you not realize (since you claim to have read the entire thread) that we were pretty much done with the dramatizations? who is stirring the pot now? Certainly it couldnt be you.... for you are just a victim in this cruel game ;)

But really... we are just beating the proverbial dead horse. The meat eaters have laid claim to their comments and owned up to them.... what more would you like exactly? flowers? chocolates? a medal? goodness gracious.... I'm sure the "comments" haven't ruined your life.

But i really don't get the whole "this place is mean but I keep coming back" thing. just for the record.... that's life .... it isn't all sunshine and puppies.... crap happens.

To keep things fair ..

Where exactly did Mad'sMom make personal attacks? There were some vague insinuations, there were some snide remarks, but she was actually much more civil than many in this thread. While I don't agree with her premise, I can't in all good conscience agree with those saying she made personal attacks.

She did, toward the end, make a comment about "your silly, inconsiderate, snide, agitating remarks" - but in all honesty, there HAVE been remarks that fit that description.

While we who eat meat have a right to eat meat, and enjoy eating meat if we choose, it shouldn't also give us a right to be exactly what we're accusing others of being - arrogant, inconsiderate, insinuating, snide and showing a definite lack of compassion. Wouldn't it be better to show how reasonable we can be instead?

Joking is fine. But if I had to count the number of personal attacks (what I consider personal attacks) in this thread, Mad'sMom would not be the one who made the most.

Now, I'm off to eat my chicken pot pie .. :D

It's a chicken pot pie because it says so on the box!

And it was yummy. Except for the peas.

Box? I am surprised!

I have made squirrel pot pie several times... and I do not make it in a casserole dish, I make it in pie tins. With a bottom and top crust... I do not like pot pies without a bottom crust!
I just figured pot was in the name because you precook the meat in a POT before you actually make the PIE. Hence POT PIE.
But I like Renee's answer better! ;)

To quote a VERY memorable episode of Ironside:

Father: "The POT killed my son"

Ironside: "Dámn that pot, it has claimed so many young lives"

Makes me chuckle every time! :D

Yep, box. I am inherently lazy. *L* This was even a MICROWAVE pot pie!

I've never eaten squirrel meat before .. my Mom's semi-pet squirrel, Chi-Chi, would be vastly disturbed to think that we were feeding him peanuts in order to fatten him up! *LOL* I've eaten a lot of wild game, though, growing up in Alaska. Moose is my favorite by far.

I agree, a pot pie NEEDS a bottom crust too! I didn't know they made them without .. I've led a very sheltered life ..
