luce says she'd freaking freeze to death if i took away her clothes.

it was like the lady who got arrested for dying her poodle pink. for crying out loud. who cares?? there are far worse things in this world than people putting clothes on their dogs.

Now I've seen everything. (or have I?) He said large dogs should not wear anything to cover them up. Wonder what he would have said if he'd see my 90 lb, 29" Doberman shiver from the cold in the frigid winters of north Idaho or risk frostbite to his ears if he didn't wear his hoodie thing along with a coat. What a moron! Functionality and not fashion. Who the hell cares as long as the dog is comfortable. Heck, my dogs burrow under blankets any chance they get. They love being being covered. It's not anyone else's business.

They need to get their priorities straight and start concentrating on stopping neglect, starvation, beatings, dog fighting and all the other horrors that humans put dogs through.

I look for function but it darn well better be keeping up with the fashion too. Let's face it. We've got reputation to think about here. LLBean, Cabella's, Lands End, Petsmart (rffff)....north Idaho dogs at any rate need to keep the appropriate image. :rofl1:

lol. We were clothes...I don't see the difference. Clothes don't cause humans any harm. I put clothes on my dogs. My chihuahua is cold even in the summer. I use clothes as protection against the elements, and to keep my dogs warm. That is the whole purpose of clothing.

So what if a dog is wearing a cute, pink sweater? It is still serving the purpose of keeping my dog warm. I think I can choose whatever pattern or design I like, since my dogs can't choose them for themselves. It does NOT mean I am using my dogs as a fashion accessory.

The only thing I really hate is people who carry their dogs around in bags..and use them as their own fashion accessory....and don't let their dogs use their legs.

Wow, someone needs to give Boomer and Kassie the info about it being cruel. lol

I'd need to video record when I tell them if they want to wear their sweaters. They get so excited running towards me like I'm about to give them a treat. Even inside they need their sweaters this time of year. It's cold.

That's ridiculous. My Chihuahua shivers and freezes outside in the winter even when she has clothes on. I can't imagine bringing her out naked in that kind of weather.

Additionally, she now almost wears a t-shirt 24/7 because she has allergies to dust mites and scratches herself until she bleeds and loses fur otherwise.

How cruel it is... arrest me...

Throw me in irons... I'm just trying to keep my dog cool in the 95 degree heat! (Do backpacks count as clothing? Because Ronin carries the first aid kit and water for our hikes... Or under UK law, are dog packs cruel?)

Why don't they concentrate their time/money/energy on a cause that will actually make a difference to an animal whose life in on the line? What a stupid, weird little issue to nitpick at.

And they claim dogs could survive in the wild. Ummm, what breeds are they talking about here? Because I haven't seen any hairless cresteds roaming feral. People usually don't bother dressing the hardy breeds like GSDs and huskies, they don't need it. Why ban something that *could* be a problem, when there hasn't been any cases? The didn't mention any specific cases where dogs died of heat exhaustion due to wearing clothes. From the sound of the article it is strictly a comfort issue.

Oh I know! Let's just ban everything right now! Everything except nerf. Everything will be nerf. We will have nerf cars, nerf trains, nerf knives, nerf garage doors, our animals will have nerf teeth and claws....wait a minute, that won't stop allergies so might as well make the whole dog nerf. Everybody will be perfectly safe and happy. Until someone suffocates in their nerf bedding anyway.

Wow, they must really have the whole animal abuse and neglect problem really taken care of over there to have the time to go after people who dress their pets.....

Don't ban dog clothes. Ban irresponsible dog dressers......

Gotta quote this, from another forum...

Until you pay my vet bills buy my dogs their foods, clean up their crap, don't tell me what I can and not put on them if it is not causing them harm.

So I say if you don't like it then don't do it but don't pass judgement or try to push your feelings on people who do.

As long as they dogs are not suffering by being to hot in what they are wearing or it's constricting etc let them be.
This is coming from someone who USED to hate dressing dogs, I thought it was stupid. But it can help the dog in some cases, and it also opens doors for people are scared of my "baby killers" Gizmo has changed many minds in his hoodies and jerseys.

Now I don't approve the ones that go overboard but that is their choice.

If you put a coat on a Malamute during a heat wave, it might be abuse. But it will probably fall under existing anti-cruelty laws. The UK has enough of those already. Why try to legislate every little thing when you could have a law that is sufficiently broad to cover all/most suffering animals, and does not incriminate people who are doing no wrong?

On the other hand... part of me would love to have all of you dog dressing people arrested... for fashion crimes. ;)
