Spring: Bouncey (she hops while she runs, she bounces off the ground when she's excited, etc.)

Dance: Silly (she's easily exciteable, in a goofy way)

Keira: Quick (everything she does is at full speed, or close to)

Winston: Whiney (he whines for the sole sake of whining - he doesn't need a reason. It's very annoying)

Pit - Old. He's claimed senior status the moment I brought him home. Next to nothing gets him excited, and what's worse is he gives you this "I'm too mature for this" look if you try to innitiate any sillies. It's quite something to be more immature than your own dog.

Adojrts, interesting thread topic! One word and why.
Not including dogs either of us grew up with at our parents' homes or the list would be way too long! Just ones that are/were ours:

Riley (West Highland White Terrier): Confused.
Same experience as Mom2Dogs with her Westie!!
Sometimes "terriertude", not too much but definitely there. Sometimes he's a layabout, other times he does crazy zoomie laps all aroud the houe. Many times his temperament resembles our ATRB Golden. My guy says she must be speaking to him from the Bridge. :) Riley adores anything that smells like Cheyenne (plush toys, a pillow), and has from the beginning. (First thing he did in our home was make a beeline for her plaid pillow, sniffed it deeply then snuggled in it.)

Cheyenne (Golden Retriever): Perfection.
The ultimate temperament. Very intelligent and trainable. Reliable, absolutely none of the problems people talk about with dogs. Affectionate without being overly-clingy. Accepting with everything and everyone ... people, dogs, cats, bunnies, anyone or anything. But still an excellent watch dog. She sucessfully scared off someone in my old neighborhood, while that person was in the process of breaking into my house through a window. :yikes: (Was home & awake at the time .. 12:45 a.m on a Friday night.) I keep hearing Goldens are not good watch dogs ... but no one told Cheyenne!

Spike (GSD/wolf): Anxiety
Not the right word b/c he was not generally anxious. But he did have bad separation anxiety, common in wolf dogs. No amount of training or distraction methods ever alleviated it. The only thing that helped was when he met Cheyenne (they met as adults). He developed a tendency to follow her lead and got better, but his SA was never completely gone.

Marley: (Aussie/Rottie mix): Hunter
Very high prey drive, he rarely misses when hunting down a squirrel or gopher. He also tried hunting our indoor cats, had to be completely separated from them to the point he never even saw them. Even just the sight of them got him too hyped into hunting mode.

King (GSD/Dane mix): Calm
Someone once commented: "If that dog was any calmer he'd be comatose!" Pretty accurate description, he was a sweet, very mellow boy.

I have to totally agree on Petie=Intense

Diamond: Loving (This may only be my impression of her, as she can be skittish with others but she loves her family without condition and I love her right back. Diamond is without a doubt my baby.)

Mindy: Reliable (Mindy is a nice dog, friendly with strangers and a great ambassador for her breed, though with age she has gotten a bit grumpy with some strange dogs. She will do whatever you ask, and is eager to please. She can have a rotten attitude when she *feels* hard done by and will give you a serious cold shoulder and some true attitude... LOL)

Max: Independent (Max is a sweetheart and very, very cuddly but at the same time is the most stubborn soul alive.... He likes what HE likes end of story!!! Ironically he is a full brother to Mindy from a later litter!!)

Foster: Goofy (Followed closely by needy, he is funny, loving, playful, and a fun dog in general but VERY needy and clingy which honestly drives me a tad insane!!)

Molly: Snotty (Very sweet when she wants to be, very SNOTTY when you tick her off, she is also sadly nervous to the extreme sometimes, and is neurotic about food, eats enough to keep her somewhat above skin and bones and thats about it, nothing will get her to eat more though Ado gave me some ideas I want to try)

Lol, you would know what I mean about Petie, considering how much time you have spent with us and in so many different situations i.e hunting, home, in the car and to how many Holels/motels for trials???

Mindy, wow, reliable that is bang on for her isn't it?? And you know that I have always felt she was an awesome ambassador. Gezz I wish we had bred her and Bobbi together!!

Oh bloody hell, Foster, goofy doesn't begin to describe that dog!!!!!!!! Watching him the other night at your place, was one of the funniest things I had seen in a while. :rofl1: Had he carried on more, we would have needed some Depends!!

Corvus - full throttle (Okay, I know it's two words, but it's one description and to be honest, no one word fits him. It's either wide open or full throttle. Can't think of anything else, lol).

He doesn't have an off switch. He's on the go all the time. He really is a challenge, but I love him so much...even when I'm pulling my hair out about his latest antics.

Hannah - fickle

She's just really strange, lol. She's neurotic and bossy, clingy and aloof at the same time. She's just wierd. I love her to pieces, but she is SO fickle it drives me batty some times.

Nellie - affectionate

(Attention ***** would be more appropriate, but I didn't want to use another two word description).

She loves affection, which is a full 180 from how she was when she first got here. She hated, feared even, the slightest touch from a human hand. The first time I threw a ball for her, she cowered down and wet herself. :(

It's amazing to see the change in her. She loves to play fetch now.

Argos - Curious: He has to put everything in his mouth, or smell it and wont let up until he gets a good inspection of what ever it is he has his mind set on.

Mortisha - Fatty: She's a fat cat, and is very protective of her food, lol

Rat-Fink - Amazing: He's just such a beautiful cat with a great personality.

Hey!! Didn't know kitties included!! (But just remembered Dakotah included her cat in a previous post!) OK ... our cats one word and why. Again only those we do/have owned. Leaving out ones we grew up with or the many fosters b/c the list would be ridiculously long!! All except two were/are shelter or rescue adoptions ... Snitty was from a breeder, deemed too small to be bred. Y.T. Cat is a young-but-retired breeder cat. Only ones still left are the last 3. All others ATRB after good long lives. Here we go. :)

Peanut (DSH black/white): Serene
Calm, affectionate, friendly, curious. Nothing rattled her, she loved everyone. One of her buddies was a wild possum. Weird, but weird in a good way! She was "owned" by Cheyenne the Golden ... whom Peanut joined ATRB less than 2 months after Cheyenne passed away. Tiny kitten-sized cat.

Rusty (DSH orange): Dog!
Thought he was a dog! Affectionate, easily learned all basic dog obedience commands. Loved swimming in the bathtub and playing fetch.

Snitty (Blue Point Himalayan)
Her name says it all ... always in a snit!! Thought she was royalty, but still very much enjoyed a good game of fetch!! Would initiate fetch by dropping a toy at someone's feet, then meowing loudly. "Play fetch with me...now!" :p

Precious (DSH black/white): Tough
She claimed one room (the office) and decided which of the other animals were allowed in at any particular time.

Fluffy (Black Persian): Happy
Happiest, sweetest temperament ever!! He was a real character, and was Peanut's favorite playmate. Very attentve to humans and dogs as well. Huge, gorgeous cat ... was the size of a medium-sized dog.

Y.T. Cat (Turkish Angora): Dog!
Very beautiful cat. Ignores other cats, very much prefers the company of dogs and humans. Knows most basic dog obedience commands, does a perfect heel. Never starts any catfights, but has finished a few!! She makes stepson's cat Buster toe the line, she tolerates no nonsense from him.

Fuzz E. Cat (Blue-Cream Point Himalayan): Methusalah!
Adopted as a special-needs senior. No one's sure how old she is, guesstimated as very late teens approaching 20. Sweet and very laid-back.

Buster (DSH dark grey): Scrappy
Stepson's cat. Sometimes starts catfights, incredible jumper, tries to get into stuff to toss it on the floor. Walks like a panther and he thinks he is one. Is kept in line by Y.T Cat, otherwise he'd be very hard to live with!

You guys are missing the why part!!
Whoops. I don't read for content well.

Meg - Perfect:D

Because she always, always tries her hardest to be whatever I want her to be. Just on her own, she would have been the ideal pet for most of America. She could get by on minimal exercise, is practically invisible in the house unless you want her in your face, never makes a peep. Just a soft, quiet, pleasant pet. But because I asked her to, she found her inner drive. She plays tug in public, she fetches balls and leaps for frisbees, she runs agility like a star, despite her early fears. She's just a really good sport about everything. Anything I want to try, she says "okay, I'll give it my best". And if I want to spend the whole day snuggling in bed, that's fine too.

Dekka never plays with other dogs. Anytime we go to train its serious. She doesnt' do goofy silly things.

Bounce.. it is who and what she does. Her personality is bouncy, she bounces all over everything...

Snip wants to hunt. Everywhere and everything. Find the RAT!!

Ruby the crestie: PHEOBE...
while i know this is a name not realy a decribing word, ruby 100% reminds me of pheoby from friends, fun loving, sweet, kind of nutz, a little ditzy, kind hearted, with something deeper behind that dopey outside. Just a beautifully colored soul.

Vixie: Momma
shes the momma dog, she takes charge and observes, but when things get too rough she jumps right in.

Dodger: Tender
hes just such a soft quiet and gentle mommas boy, but it doesnt take much to freek him out.

Riley- Steady

He is a very steady dog. Nothing fasses him. He is steady in his loyalty, his temperament, his gait, his training, etc.
