I'm bored and curious, so I was wondering, what are you plans for NextDog?

I personally am hoping for a working line German Shepherd around late 2015-mid 2016, but the way that's looking, it may be pushed back even farther. My sister is planning to get a puppy as well, and since we all live in the same home, it wouldn't be wise to get two puppies at once. Anyways, I'm hoping it'll work out. :)

I'm looking at another Field bred Lab in late 2015-early 2016. As well as another Beagle in 2016-17 and getting my Dachshund back from my mom if he's still living then :/.

We're also on the hunt for a "Free-To-Good-Home" lab mutt thing in the next few monthish to year for another Dock diving dog if it all pans out right.....

Not sure. I know I want my own place and I want Journey to be at least four before I add another. I don't have the time or money to dedicate to training and trialing two young dogs, and to be honest, I don't want another dog taking away from Dance or Journ.

However, when it happens, it'll either be another Aussie from Journey's breeder (or co breeder), another Toller with more sport and working dogs in its background, or possibly a Koolie. Not really interested in any other breeds in the near future except for Aussies, Tollers and Koolies. I know I like the former two breeds and I am sure I would enjoy the latter just as much. After living with breeds that don't mesh well, I like to kind of stick with what I know works.

I can't say for certain when next dog will be (or what he will be exactly!) HaHa!

I definatly want more corgis (yes with an S)... And I want a working farm dog who needs to be able to handle chickens, ducks, sheep, and a cow or two. There's no real reason the corgi can't be the farm dog... It's just I want my farm dog out of pretty heavy working lines and I can't seem to find that in corgis. I've seen plenty get a few herding titles... But I want dogs that work for a living not for sport.

Now the when of it all... I have no idea. I guess it depends on how soon we end up buying a place and getting the farm going. I'd feel pretty confident to say tht we won't have a farm by next dog and so it'll most likely be another corgi.

Honestly, I have no idea.

If I had my way, I'd get a petite female Labrador in 2016 or there abouts. However, it is highly probable that we won't get another dog until Cynder passes/is ancient, and then it will be a rescue mutt of Michael's choosing. We'll see! Depends on living area/human baby/other pet status.

But at some point, I want a petite female black Labrador, and there are quite a few breeders in the area that have just what I want.

It won't be until Happy's gone and probably I'd like to be living on my own first. So no real timeline because who knows when any of that will happen.

I have a couple breeds and breeders in mind, and whichever breed I go with will probably just be whichever breeder has a litter when I'm looking.

We aren't adding any dogs until we lose one and I hope that's not for a long while. Our oldest is only 7 after all, so I'm thinking it may be 8-10ish years. o_O

When we do add, it'll be a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, an ACD, or a malinois.

The corgi would likely be futurekid's dog so probably an easy going rescue, though I am not ruling out breeders. ACD would be for all around performance, so I'd be looking at breeders and rescue at the same time and seeing which one has the kind of dog I want first. Malinois would be an IPO dog for sure, so from a breeder, though I'm not sure who as I have some very specific requirements.

Well, it won't happen until Pip is gone. If I'm still mushing, I'll be looking for an Alaskan or similar. Either a rehome/washout or there are a couple of places I'd love to try to get a puppy from.

There are a few different breeds I'm interested in. No idea on timeline. Which breed I go with depends on living situation at the time.

Nothing planned at all anytime soon. Nextdog will be in a different living situation and likely not until I'm down to one or two dogs which is a terrifying thought.

I keep saying nextdog will not be an ACD, no more A-type personalities, but I might be swayed into another. :p Also thinking sighthounds...orrrr Field Spaniel or GSP. I don't know yet.

It will be quite a few years off (forever if I could help it) because I have a two dog limit, and Gusto still needs all my training time/money/attention, but at this point I'm pretty sure it will be a sport bred border collie. I just really, really want a dog who wants to play agility as much as I do.

Nothing set in stone, but I'm hoping for a male malinois puppy in the next couple of years. There are other options, but that's my first choice.

Honestly the only thing that could convince me to get another in the far future is if the dog gets along exceptionally well with Merlin (like oh god long lost best friends) from a decent rescue

I don't think I would ever CHOOSE to get another, it would have to happen like...Merlin falls in love with this dog at the park and it's somebodies foster dog kind of thing :rofl1:

I've got some ideas on breed but every time I post them, it changes, so I might as well not say, haha. All potential nextdog breeds are either sporting, herding, or hound (sighthound.)

I'm thinking about an adult from a breeder some time next year, or at least that's my ideal. I'd really like to do it before Rowan turns 9, and definitely before he turns 10 (July 2016.) It'll have to be female, and I prefer between 1-3, although I might take a 4 year old for the right dog.

I'm going to a show and meeting a breeder in a couple of weeks, and it's sounding very promising. :)

Bird dog is next. If we don't buy started, puppy in 2-3 years.

After that we are done for a while. Probably until Rider and Harlow are both gone.

I really haven't the faintest idea of NextDog.

Like, I JUST GOT the NextDog I had been waiting 4 years for.

You're sorta at a loss for that first year, I think. :rofl1:

But I'm playing around with the idea of another BC out of these (or similar) lines or finally my Rhodie. We'll see. It isn't gonna be anytime soon, but we'll see.

July 10th, 2014 is my NextDog plans. :D I bring home a female standard poodle puppy that day.
She'll come home just before Pike turns 6 months old, and Nola turns 4 in October. Pike is the easiest dog I've ever had and is so laid back and easy going. I'm not worried at all. Nola adores puppies and is still high enough energy to run circles around them. The breeder has talked in depth about my situation with me and feels we'll be an excellent fit.

Herder. Coming winter or spring. Breed depends on a couple things and timing. It'll be good. House buying is under way so I'll be out of rentals. Can't wait to have another agility dog to train.

I have other breeds I'm interested in but not adding any dogs until this group has passed on probably. Current dogs are 4, 7, and 9 with the oldest the only one who's really dog social at all. Could be a decade or more before I add a dog. Most likely another pit bull ish shelter dog but also looking into sighthounds, probably greyhound and maybe staffy bull or mini bull terrier, possibly a smaller ratting type terrier as my ferrets and cat will be gone by that point.
