Somehow the words "Crazy dog lady" come to mind...

So , we found this cute little girl on our way back from lunch, at the intersection of a very busy highway. Now, Tim says we can't keep her, well, shouldn't keep her. He seems pretty smitten regardless of his big talk . Anyway, we (and by we, I mean Tim ;)) named her Nimbus. Ya know we had to stick with the sky theme: Sunny and Stormy and all that. I think I convinced Tim to keep her for a week and see how it goes. We posted her on the lost and found page at the local humane society. She's smaller then Sunny but man has she got some spunk. The lady at the shelter we took her to said she was anywhere from 8-12 months, so more or less full sized just not filled out yet. We didn't end up leaving her at the shelter because we were sort of afraid of the "black dog" curse. She is much too fine a girl to be put down for nothing she has done wrong.
Well, without further ado here is miss Nimbus:

any guesses on the mix? She's pretty dainty so I wouldn't rule out a chi/shepherd cross... but who knows around here.

Sunny seems to enjoy her, Stormy is a little bit sulky and more clingy then usual but I think she may warm up to the idea. There have been some snarls but mostly just the "You did NOT just go there!" assortment.
I'm pretty sure Tim is hooked and I know I am. Keep your fingers crossed that either someone comes forward as the owner or Tim decides that 3 dogs are just right.

Oh gosh, she's cute! My first thought was GSD/Shar Pei mix, but the more I look at her, the more her markings remind me of a Rottweiler. Maybe Rott/Shar Pei?

she can't be 20lbs. Her features don't scream anything but heinz 57 to me. With the local populas I'd guess pug/chi x some bigger dog like a dobie / rottie or GSD . Her fur is just too soft for words and she is a cuddle bug. Her eyes sort of bug out like a chi or pug's would. that would account for the wrinkles and short nose. She's very fine boned. Poor baby . She seems to be settling in nicely but will not abide the "no dogs on the couch" rule that we established upon moving to Texas...Sigh. She's cuddled up next to me with Sunny curled up at my feet no doubt thinking this is quite unfair. . .

Yup. You got a new dog :rofl1:

Seriously, I'm finding that three is a better dynamic than two. Tallulah has made a huge difference for both of mine.

My first inclination was Rottie, too, but there's no telling what all is mixed up in there, lol! She's a stunner, whatever she is.

she sure is. I lurves her tho Stormy seems to still be less then enhused. Tim is STORMY'S man, and she is highly offended at this potential dethronement as princess. My big girl is very sulky, even Tim noticed it . Probably because Miss Nimbus has snuggled her way into his heart and claimed him as hers.Seriously, he enters the room, all bets are off, only he is good enough to snuggle with :( Seriously though,
It appears she realizes I have been won over but Tim is still a holdout so she's moving in for the kill. :rofl1:
We did discuss once again last night that we really should find her a home of her own. He's afraid of what would happen if all three needed the vet at the same time. I agree with him so I'm putting an ad up on craiglist and going to carefully screen out, ya know, everyone. *snicker* She is curled up next to me on the couch. Tim was first upset but we can't seem to break her of it, not with her being so scared of everything that makes a sudden movement. So his solution: If one is allowed on the couch, then all three are. *dies* Wish I would have taken a picture. Nimby was stretched out over both of our laps, Sunny was in front of her taking up all of mine, and Stormy was trying to (unsuccessfully) take up every inch of lap and couch space available. Dog pile anyone?
I'm still struggling to understand why anyone would just throw out this little girl. She was obviously a house pet at one time and seems entirely house broken. We put her in the mud room with a doggie pillow, next to Sunny and Stormy's crate. She didn't move all night. Her fur is so so soft. She knows about leashes and collars. She is well mannered. I think she was owned by a man because she just melts when Tim is around. Why oh why leave this baby to most certainly be killed by a speeding car? She came right up to me, practically curled in a ball from being so tail tucked and submissive. She rode well in the car. She has only barked once, and that was in greeting.
Sigh. Some people. So, any Texas chazzers think they have what it takes to become Nimbus's new owners ?

Her coloring makes me think of a Hellenic hound, but that color pattern is seen in other types of hounds, such as beagles. Also some sort of terrier type or pug as someone else mentioned. Could be a weird puggle (beagle/pug mix).

I see some kind of terrier in there.... in the face mostly...
Maybe Manchester Terrier mix? That would account for her markings. I know there are a lot of breeds that can be black & tan, but there's just something about hers that looked Rott to me. Manchester Terriers have the same markings/coloration. She appears to be about the right size for a Standard MT, too.

Any chance she was lost from a car accident in the area?
Well, I sort of wish that was the case, but she had a distinct mark on her throat area where she had a collar that was removed. So either she was in a wreck and didn't have her collar on her, or someone dropped her and removed the collar. I don't know. We posted on the lost and found at the shelter, and want to put out a craigslist ad. She's such a doll. Very clingy, very cuddly. She's slowly melting Tim's heart to pieces. He asks if she cried whenever he leaves. The answer has always been yes, and she perks right up when the car pulls into the driveway. He loves her for sure. I hope though, that someone misses her and sees the ad. We'll see.
