I just watched this on the news. She is living with her mother and father and 6 kids in a 3 bedroom house! Her father is going back to Iraq on contract work to help out the family.

I am DISGUSTED to hear that donations are already being sent in. I feel that she should be forced to do this on her own, fail, and have the kids taken away and placed in appropriate homes. This woman is an idiot. Period.

NO one could do that on their own and the children would be the ones to suffer if the had to. I pray to God enough donations come in to give them some kind of life. THey should not have to pay for the mistakes of the parent. THat's harsh!

No, they should be taken away from the mother so that the kids DON'T suffer! But through donations they will be staying with the mother and having the bare minimum of a "life" because people are donating.

I tend to agree with this sadly :(

Those children (probably all 14) will have a better shot in life without idiots for parents.

Plus, I'd say the donations won't keep coming for 18-20 years.........they tend to fizzle out once the novelty has worn off, then what?

Just a shame that some out there are desperate to adopt and these kids will have to scrape by because their Mom wanted to be in the spotlight for awhile..can you imagine college being a possibility for any of them? On who's dime?

That's odd. Someone linked to the first article on another forum, and they mentioned a husband who still lived overseas. Still makes it just wrong though.

I agree...fertility drugs are to be used by parents desperately wanting to experience parenthood for the first time. Not by someone who already has a house full of children. That's just selfish.

And UGH, I'm sick of people saying they didn't expect so many babies after taking fertility treatments. Kate Gosselin said the same thing. By now, you have to know that 5, 6, 7+ kids is a very real possibility, and to expect to only have 1 kid with fertility drugs is naive.

A great friend of mine after trying for many, many years used Fertility drugs and only conceived one, but they were warned of the possibility of more and I tend to think they are the exception... LOL

did you guys read the article up on Yahoo...she DID take fertility treatments (again WHY, and who paid for those?) the grandpa says...and they are moving to "their other HUGE house" when the babies come home and no one will be able to find them (media)...somehow I bet they'll let those wanting to give them MONEY, find them.

I say take the doctors to task. There is NO legitimate reason to prescribe fertility drugs to a woman with six children. She's obviously proven that she's more than capable of having children on her own. I think that's as much of an ethical foul-up as prescribing hydrocodone to a person who has no pain. It's practically drug abuse.

That being said, as long as this woman isn't on government assistance, I'm not going to throw a fit over it. I think it was a bad decision made for shady motives (like money-making), but I don't care as long as it's not *my* money funding it.

I think it's kind of interesting how modern society has fits over people with so many children. Just 50-70 years ago, it wasn't uncommon at all. I very regularly see obituaries where the person either had a dozen or more children, or had a dozen or more siblings. Fourteen or fifteen is also fairly common. I believe the most I've ever seen was a woman who gave birth to 19 children. I've often wondered how families provided for so many children back then.

yes and many of those children, died young (meaning less than say 30-40) and many didn't even make it out of their early years. And many of those children didn't have actual childhoods as opposed to being basically...free babysitters and labor around the home.

Sounds great...sorry I missed it LOL oh wait I didn't...I pretty much raised my 2 sisters while both parents worked...our relationship suffered mightily for it, too.

I have no issue with other people having as many as they want on their dime...but I hate to see young people not getting the chances they should have because they have to take up their parents slack. That hits a personal nerve with me.
