I'm so upset. I just got back from the emergency vet.
I was getting him up to go to bed, and his head started shaking, almost wobbling. I freaked and started bawling. In the time it took me to grab my keys and toss Cricket in his crate, it had stopped.

They didn't say too much at the E-vet... well, they said a lot, but they did say we wasn't going to drop dead immediately, which is what I needed to hear tonight.

I'm calling my regular vet in the morning. I don't know what to do or think! My poor baby!! :(

I feel so bad, saying earlier that he seems like he's losing his marbles, now something might be really wrong with him...

He did have a fun late night car ride, and got to smooch everyone at the clinic, so he's happy right now.

I'll post updates as they come. I really need some good vibes, or input from people with experience right about now... :(

((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))

And the two of you have TONS of vibes coming your way . . . I'm not up for losing anymore Chazdogs anytime soon.

I can't remember if Mochi is a rescue or if he's from a breeder? If he's from a breeder, you will probably want to talk to them and find out if they've had any reports of other dogs in the line having seizures.

Oh, and see if your vet will go ahead and refer you to a specialist so you can get to the bottom of this quickly and efficiently.

Sierra may have had a seizure last night as well, but we're not 100% sure. I know what you're going through.

I hope Mochi is okay!! I'm sending out happy and healthy vibes!

I don't know Mochi's history, but I have a Beagle named Buddy who started having seizures about 6 months after we adopted him, he was 3 1/2 yrs old. The seizures would not last long, however, it took him about 10 -15 minutes to get his bearings. Our vet asked us to log them and note how often they occurred. Since he experienced them too close together, within 2 weeks, he has been put on Phenobarbitol and he has never had a seizure since.

I hope everything turns out well for Mochi, I know how scary it is to see your dog going through this.

how old is mochi?

seizures are about the scariest thing ever. i'm sorry you had to go through this.

really good seizure info

with one seizure, you usually don't do anything except note it in a log and check some bloodwork to rule out other causes. if the dog has multiple seizures in one episode or the seizures happen more than once in a great while, the vet will generally start medication. *most* epileptic dogs can be controlled on medication for years and years.

lots of good vibes to you and mochi!

Losing him?!?! Oh god, I can't even think of it! :(
I'm crossing my fingers that it isn't going to be anything to terrible... Thanks for the vibes and hugs.

He's from a breeder. I'm going to call her on the weekend. It's impossible to talk less than two hours on the phone with that woman, especially now since it's been a few years since we spoke. I'll call her on Sunday when I get some time.

Mochi is going to the vet first thing Monday.

Mochi is 3 and a half now.

Thank-you for the info. I'll read up on this the best I can.

I don't know what to do or expect now. His 'seizure' wasn't bad, he seemed to be 'with it' while it was going on, and he wasn't weird or upset after, as the vet said a lot of dogs can be. I'm going to keep a close eye on him from now on, and hope it he doesn't get worse, or that the seizures don't start coming more and more frequently.

It was so so upsetting to watch! :( Poor Momo!!

He's going in for blood work on Monday. Actually, all the dogs are going in, for check-ups and various shots, as well as a summer's worth of flea prevention. Great, my bill should be $1000.

Most of Harv's seizures were like that- he would be twitchy and chew. He was aware of his surroundings and he wasn't weird afterward. When he had grand mal seizures, it would take him a long time to settle afterwards, but he only had those before he was on medication and then again the day he died. Harv was different because his seizures started at the age of almost 11, and were probably secondary to a brain tumor. In a young dog like yours, it's much more likely you're looking at primary epilepsy, which is a way way better prognosis.

It's also possible for a dog to have one seizure and then never have another one.

Hang in there!
