I saw a little blurb about this on the news last night. And one of the things this guy said was that he didn't want to euthanize them and the conditions they were in were cruel.
Now...what does this rocket scientist think is going to happen to these domesticated animals in the wild? They with either starve to death or they will pack up and possibly kill some one else's pet or livestock and God forbid they kill an actual person. This man, by doing what he did, has put everyone in danger, every pet and every human being that might get bitten or mauled. His butt belongs in jail.....
I will ad...I was relieved to realize this happened in Ark (and I have lived there and can attest to some of the stupidity) and not GA....I kept saying to mysel...now I know we can be hicks here but come on---surely not----whew. :)

Check out the video interview  The link's on the same page as the story.

At least the humane society is going to try to round up the dogs. Seems the feds are a little POed that he released them on federal land, too.
ya think? i bet the conversation dept is just up in arms. That mayor takes hansel and gretel way to seriously.

I agree with you there! I used to live in AL, and we were always relieved to hear when stuff like this happened in Mississippi. :)

I'm flabbergasted !!! I see no sense in this what so ever !! The poor dogs will have no chance if they don't turn mean and kill for survival . It's not like one dog seeking shelter and food . They will pack and turn dangerous . I'm afraid that they are better off being euthanized . Sad, sad , sad !!!

Why? It shouldn't have happened anywhere. We should all be appalled, no matter what state it happened in, that it happened in OUR country....where dogs are supposed to be companions and not garbage to be tossed away when it's no longer needed/wanted.

Perhaps I just misunderstood your post...

You just misunderstood, Shadow :)

It's a southern humor thing . . . . one state's not as backwards as the other. We joke a lot about southern states and it IS always kind of a relief when it's some state other than the one you live in where something totally idiotic occurs.

Yeah, when your state is always ranked last, it's just kinda nice when you hear that someone's worse than you.

We all agree it shouldn't've happened anywhere. It's a joke.

That's why I love the movie "Annapolis." It contains my favorite quote: "You're my Mississippi." :D

I was in South Carolina the year that Georgia released new state maps and forgot to put Augusta on them - how you forget the second largest city is beyond me...Then GA couldn't decide if they should recall the maps or if they should issue stickers and people could just put Augusta on the map themselves.

Those in SC were very happy that such a thing happened elsewhere. :hail:

so, reading all those articles...
mayor is fed up that an entire town can't provide care to a mere DOZEN dogs (that's pretty pathetic), that rounding up these dogs sent one of his AC officers to the hospital three times... so, knowing the dogs are trouble, intentionally releases them next to a bunch of homes where kids live, and then states that if the dogs bite anybody, it's not his problem.

Dood should be shot on sight. And whoever shoots him should advise him to get medical care immediately, and say it's not their responsibility.

Sorry. Call me slow. I'm southern and didn't "get it" as a joke.

I do recall people folks getting ripped about posting pit bull attacks...so they started posting non pit bull attacks with the "at least it wasn't pit bulls" comments as if ANY attack is a better alternative. It seems similar to me.

But whatever. I have kidney stones right now and am probably a bit "pissy." Blame it on Jess. I've learned to unleash my inner pissiness.

(And, as an understudy to Queen Pissy, I depart with these words...)

"nvr mind, carry on....".

Hey, it could have been worse...they could have misspelled the state name! ;)
