I don't think any Joe, Rich, or Harry should be able to buy it. I don't smoke it because I have kids and need to set a good example, plus I hate the smell and the paranoid feeling. I have smoked in the past and nothing but bad stuff happened so I stopped and never tried it agian.

What are your guys' views on it?
I think it is alright. There is nothing wrong with it in moderation.

Do you think it should be legalized?
Definately, there are too many people in jail today for it, when there are rapists, killers, kidnappers, ect, out on the streets.

Do you smoke it?
Occasionally... mostly to help me sleep... I am never really up to enjoy the high you get off of it.

Have you tried smoking it?
Yes

People with terminal illnesses, for them it can take away a lot of the pain.
I was thinking more about the 'average' person with that comment. Medicinal reasons, I can understand that...but I'm thinking a lot of people don't use it for that reason, and in that case, I don't see the need.

I think the average person uses it for much the same reason any of us use any of our vices. We like the way they make us feel. Even those of us who don't drink or smoke, still probably induldge in caffeine or chocolate a little too much or too often to really be healthy. Chazhound could be considered an addiction; none of us are on here because we hate it, right? And over-use of caffeine and over-indulgence of internet time can be just as hurtful to our well-being and the well-being of those around us. So I'm not one to judge someone's recreational past-time choices. I may not agree with them to the point of indulging myself, but I'm not going to put someone down because of it.

My first " hit " was in the 70s ..... my 2nd in the 90s , I did notice that they sure added a "kick " ....too strong for me . Even as a smoker , it killed my lungs ! I don't drink to get high and will never take anything to get high .

What are your guys' views on it? kicks ass. It has so much less of an affect on your impulses and bodily control then alcohol, and way less long term affects as well. Police actually don't care about it here... it has no where near the affect that any other drug has on people & society. Stoners sit at home watching cartoons, srsly.

Do you think it should be legalized? YES!

Do you smoke it? YES! I did last night. It was fantastic & purple.

Have you tried smoking it? YES! See above.

I really don't have an ipinion about legalizing it. I've seen people high and so screwed up they don't know what they are doing. And on the flip side I've seen people who are high yet still down to earth with a clue of what is happening around them. I know some people, young and old, who smoke it. We don't for many reasons. First and foremost being our daughter. We are parents trying to set a good example for her.

I have never smoked it and don't plan on it. It doesn't appeal to me. We also don't drink alcohol alot. Seeing the people drunk and stumbling around doesn't appeal to us and we don't see ourselves being like that.

I do agree about everything in moderation. Even though sometimes that doesn't apply to chocolate ice cream. :lol-sign:

My view is: I think it's like anything else...ok in moderation.

I think it should be legalized.

I don't smoke it...I don't like to smoke anything.

I have smoked in in the past.............a very long time ago.

I think it should be legalized. as for cancer patients...it's more help for eating than for pain. chemo leaves you sooooooooooooo ill, with major appetite loss. please.....let's one day let it be available to all cancer patients.

have I smoked it? Yes. and loved the wonderful mellow feeling. do I think it is as bad as alcohol? hey........anything beyond moderation is BAD NEWS. I would no sooner pass judgement for someone smoking a joint as I would for someone taking prescription pain meds. do I think government makes a big deal where there isn't one.....OF COURSE. if they don't have a hand in the profit.......they hate it. lol....remember prohibition?? the worst points of it...geez, Louise, HIDE THE FOOD. hehehe like a fine wine, a fine joint is not a bad thing when you are home...not driving...and not going to excess.

I've been reading and reading just trying to stay out, because I know that my opinion would not be appreciated here and that I am most definitely in the minority with my opinion. But I have to speak up.

What kind of message do you think you are sending to people? To younger members on here? What kind of message? How awful that anyone would try encourage anyone else to think that drugs are just fine to do, and even more awful if those people would act on it.

Lastly, it IS illegal. If marijuana is "not bad", what's next? If it is okay to break this law, when does it become okay to break others? When does it become okay to steal? When does it become "not bad" to break and enter into someone else's house? When does it become okay for people to drink underage? When does pedophilia become okay?

FIrst of all, marijuana can hardly be compared to pedophilia. That's like comparing smoking cigarrettes underage to raping someone.
Second of all, young impressionable kids shouldn't be on here. There's a reason for making sure younger kids get permission from their parents.
There are lots of threads on more mature things. I don't see why this is any different.
We just view it differently.
To me it's a personal choice and it doesn't upset me when people are honest and share their opinions and experiences. I am pretty proud of the level of openmindedness shown by people who have not judged others and their decisions.

I see Tessa's point- anyone can read the forum, you don't have to be a member.

But, really, it's life. People are going to use and abuse no matter if we have a discussion on it or not. So, we can post our opinions, but it's just that- opinions.

We can't change anyone (their opinions, views, morals, beliefs, etc) if they don't want to be changed.

Yes it should be legalized. Remember Alcohol was once illegal. Alcohol has far worse effects than marijuana. The government won't legalize it because it is too hard to regulate it. Anyone can grow it if they find a seed.

In Ontario it is not a big deal either. You were "allowed" to h ave up to 7 grams but it had to be in ONE bag and you had to have less than $200 on you or something like that. As long as it appeared it was for personal use and not for trafficing they didn't care.

I remember once at a party the cops came because we were playing our music too loud. We hid all the paraphenalia but forgot ONE piece. As the cops were walking out the one cop turned back to us and said "BTW, I wouldn't drink the water out of that glass if I were you" It was quite funny actually.

Have I tried it? Yes.

Do I use it now? To be perfectly honest.... yes I do. but like previously said.... in moderation. We still have careers, we don't starve or neglect our dog lol, we don't hallucinate. it is not the defining factor in our lives but I do enjoy going home after a long day and having a little something something. No worse than going home and having a drink.

I don't think legalizing it sends the message to children that it is OK. Cigarettes are legal but people under 18 can't buy them. It is up to PARENTS to teach kids what is right and wrong. After 18 years of age then it is your choice. Just like alcohol isn't appropriate for kids but it's still legal you just have to be of age.

I think it should be legalized and have the same restrictions as alcohol. It's no worse that alcohol, and some would say it's actually less harmful. I think it's ridiculous that our penal system is clogged up with petty, victimless crimes related to marijuana.

I have used it recreationally in the past, but not in the last couple years.

Thankyou for addressing your counterargument about my opinion in a respectable way. :)

I understand what you are saying. Perhaps actually legalizing it would be better. At least then they could put age requirement laws on the stuff to try to keep kids off of it. Because as we all know, teenagers like to rebel.. and if its illegal, it makes it more appealing.

And if we can keep the kids off of it, they will be far less likely to experiment and do it in the future.

But as for the age thing.. sometimes it still doesn't matter. We live in a world with an overwhelmingly increasing population of bad parenting. And legal or not, though legalizing it might make it less appealing to teenagers, they'll still do it if they want to.
