Crappy video of the newscast as they do not have it up on their site still.

More info here

It really looks like at this point nothing real big is going to come of it :( But I think the apl will at least have to pay more attention to complaints vs ignoring them as they have been. Hopefully are completely done giving him food.

And the sheriff was called for two days and only came out when the apl informed them about the media coming:rolleyes:

I hope the APL does keep a close eye on them! :/
As of an hour before that interview they still insisted his dogs were all altered, while he was moving litters of all ages around. We are really hoping with even this little bit of publicity they are forced to distance themselves.

Its a step in the right direction. Just wish he would have handed the sick pups over. Erie shores would have taken them and offers him help all the time.

Do we have an SPCA? Is that sad I don't know? I don't think we do. Surely knowing the puppies have or have at least been exposed to parvo he has to be required tp give them sone sort of vet care... right? Wouldn't that be neglect?

How frustrating. I thought Greg seemed pretty unsure... I believe he's been there for a year, just recently... but who knows why's going on up there  but at least we know the puppy wasn't drowned

Sheriff refers all info on him to the apl, says they deal with it. But as you know they are privately owned so what do they investigate, and once you call they talk about how his dogs are cared for and they know there are no issues. So we are wondering how many calls and complaints there have been with no reports filed because the apl talks them out of it?

I think he(greg) is the one who made the change saying he needs to cut down a couple months ago so that is a step in the right direction. I just hope he follows through and sticks with it.

That's so sad. Good for you Joyce. At least he was dead before he went into the cold water. I can't imagine the pups I saw with Parvo being cold on top of it all. Makes me cry.

I have just looked through the Code of Ohio, and I can't find anything about veterinary care being required, unfortunately.

I looked through these two sections:
Lawriter - ORC - Chapter 959: OFFENSES RELATING TO DOMESTIC ANIMALS

Lawriter - ORC - Chapter 955: DOGS

Although there is a part in the second section I posted a link to that says a dog warden can seize a dog if he has probably cause to suspect cruelty. So the fact that the dog wardens have done nothing about this guy shows that they just don't care, since state law does give them the power to act.

I was wondering about that... I know OH animal laws suck. And also, why we are supposed to contact the APL, but they're privately owned, so what can they actually legally enforce? Doesn't seem like much!
Joce, I'm sure you remember all of the twisted stuff that the dog pound has been in "trouble" with in the past.

The pound does absolutely noting but chase dogs:eek: Its not so much just the pound but how them and the apl fight together:confused:

I guess its good to know not everywhere is like this! And we have a lot of great rescues here that step up and at least try to help the animals even if legally they can not do much.

I honestly belive that crimes against helpless puppies are worse than crimes against humans. At least most humans can defend themselves.

The laws are way too lax on crimes against animals. They should be just as severe as if you assault a human being.

You want to get seriously disgusted?

Here in Arizona a few months ago we had a Mesa man try to feed his kitten to a python and videotape it. When the snake wouldn't even kill the kitten, he drop kicked it and killed it himself.

Well, news just came down that he got a slap on the wrist. 3 years probation!

You can read about it and see the video here (if you've got the stomach for it):

Mesa Man Who Tried to Feed Cat to Python -- Then Killed it Himself When Snake Wouldn't -- Gets Probation - Phoenix News - Valley Fever

This guy deserves to be put in a pit of hungry snakes and killed.

Yea, a man tried a couple of methods to kill his dog, abuse (hitting), including strangulation and throwing him in the garbage alive.
What kills me ? He's allowed to keep his other two dogs, because they appear fine

Sometimes the law just doesn't make sense. If you commit a felony or a gun crime, you can never own another gun for the rest of your life.

If you abuse an animal, you pay a fine and you are allowed to have more. Where is the logic in that?

What got me was the cops initially just took the dog back to him:eek: They were not even going to do anything!
