We have had this little charmer a grand total of 6 days now and she is fitting right in as if she were always here. She did great with Karyn's dogs and was having a ball with little Danny.

aww! I wish I could have an Australian Cattle Dog, (yours are the stubbies) :p They look very happy.. My neighbor, used to have one, and neither lived very long because they both got hit by car's, and he lost the puppy! :yikes: He lost a 6 week old puppy! Sheesh. Poor dogs. He never keeps them contained. Its annoying, but the dogs look very happy! :D

Wow, what a blast. I'll bet Kahlua thinks she's died and gone to heaven. What a great life for her, and for all of your dogs.
It's so nice that you and Karyn can have these get togethers.

Love the pics and the slideshow!

Your grand baby is just adorable too!

Thank you all for the lovely replies. It is always a fun time when I get to go to daughters house or she comes here. Having the grand kids and dogs go along is a major bonus. I did miss out on some great shots because Karyn was in the midst of getting knocked around by the pack lol and I was laughing way to hard to shot pics. It was a great day. We found out Kahlua likes to bury toys, shred them, and play diggy diggy in the gardens oh dear but over all she is just great.
Shanon she is just bones covered by hair. In some of the shots she look like her weight is good but she has hips and ribs sticking out. Very thin. She weighs 29 lbs. That is way underweight. She is gaining though and eats well. I am putting gravey on her kibble to get her to eat a bit more and she is loving the home cooked meals. I have been giving her lots of good things and it is starting to show. She will be up to weight in no time.

Spirit are you thinking about the " Stumpy Tail "? These are pure ACD they have had their tails docked. Whiskey had to have his removed. I don't know why Kahlua's was but no matter. I like them short too. Stumpy Tails are natural bob. They have no tan markings on them. Ones with tan are ACD/Stumpy mix and are beautiful. I have had 2 stumpy/Acd mix and they are just the bomb. They look like the ACD with bob tail and are just to die for. I would always have one if I can find them. Most ACD's are docked for two reasons
1) because some believe that there is less chance of injury while working
( this is still up to debate showers say no and true cattlers say yes)
2) ACD's can get neurotic behavior patterns and chase their tails and it has to
be stopped at an early age or they cause unrepairable injury to the tail
thus forcing it to be removed. This is caused by their high drive to be on task if you will.
It is some of the reasons that cattle dogs are not for everyone. You have to really know how to handle the breed to know how to deal with the behavior. A cattle dog in the wrong hands is a night mare and that is why I believe so many that are adopted are returned because of incorrect handling. It makes them very hard to re train but it can be done to most if they are placed with one who knows how. The first 2 years with an ACD or Stumpy is a challenge.
