I just did what I had to do and Carry is now gone. I'm not going to grieve. I've had some amazing times with that stubborn little guy. I'm so glad I got to have him in my life these past 9 years. It gives me peace knowing he is no longer in pain. I was with him, holding him and loving him as he took his last breath and that was the best I can do. I'll miss him but he'll always be with me.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and sympathy.

Its funny cuz I though I would be so depressed but I'm thinking of all the amazing times I've had with that stubborn little runt and it doesn't hurt anymore. It was just his time and it would've been selfish of me to make him suffer and that just gives me peace. I'll probably getting a new dog soon in his memory and as a friend for Boomer. I'm excited for that. I'll be posting more often when I get one and be looking forward to everyone's input on raising the new guy.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. They've helped me so much.

You're right, Shred . . . . and you've got to spend more time with us! I was thinking about you just a couple of days ago and wondering how you were doing.

Sorry for your loss but I am happy you have nine great years worth of good memories of Carry. He'll be looking over your shoulder when you pick your next pup, no doubt.

Posted this poem I heard on Dogcast radio before but I think it is relevant...

Don't grieve too long for now I am free
I followed the path God set for me
I ran to him when I heard his call
I swished my tail and left it all
I could not stay another day
To bark, to love, to romp or play
Games left unplayed must stay that way
I found such peace, it made my day

I left you with a void
please fill it with remembered joy
a friendship shared, your laugh, a kiss
oh yes, these things, I too shall miss
Be not burdened by times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
my life's been full, you've given so much
Your time, your love and gentle touch

perhaps my time seemed all too brief
don't lengthen it now with undue grief
lift up your head and share with me
God wanted me and set me free

RIP little guy. I can only hope that I can have the kind of brave and grateful spirit that you have when the time comes for one of mine. I really admire you for being able to focus on the good times. I'll remember your words in the future.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. I hate that part about having pets. Your attitude is good and I strove for that too when I have lost dogs....to focus a lot on the good times. It sort of squeezes out some of the pain. ((((hugs to you))))

You're an amazing person Shred....you did a good thing by putting Carry out of his misery!! A truly unselfish thing indeed. I had to chuckle when you referred to Carry as "a stubborn little guy"... I can relate to that with Jackson Browne!!:lol-sign: Prayers, good thoughts and (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) are being sent your way!!!
