Wow... just wow :yikes:

So... you refused to stand up or say the Pledge, yet you didn't even give a REASON as to why you weren't doing it? Who cares if you don't believe it- just stand up and show some respect. You are going to a FREE public school, be thankful that there ARE free schools in this country. There are SO many kids in other countries that would give ANYTHING to go to a free school to get an education. And you bet your boots that they would stand and give respect, even if they didn't believe what was said. I'm sure some poor little kid in some country without clean water/shoes/proper shelter will be happy to take your place and receive your education and will be thankful to say the Pledge.

I've gone to friends houses who were different religions, and I've bowed my head in prayer during their dinner. My exboyfriend was Jewish, and I respected their holiday traditions. It's called respect, and as soon as you enter someone elses home/property/establishment you respect their wishes. After all, you are a guest.

And if you decide to rebell over something so trivial... be ready to get back what you dished out.

I can help a little, Sparks. Make the "OK" sign with both hands out in front of you (pinkies facing away from you). The left hand will have a lower case "b" and the right hand will be a lower case "d". B is for bread - the bread plate is on your left. D is for Drink, your water cup is on the right.
OR.........make an "L" using your thumb and index fingers in front of your face (both hands at the same time) and the one that is actually the "L" going the right direction is L for left :D

Actually when saying the pledge you really should put your hand over the center of your chest. The heart is dead center in your chest, not in your left chest.

What is in your left chest that most people call their heart, is their left ventricle, which is the one that's responsible for pumping blood to the body and thus the one that has to work the hardest. That's why you feel your heart pumping at that location.

But there's really more heart in the middle of the chest than to the left of it.[/technicality]

Wow, I guess I woulda been kicked out of your school. I have ADD, and even now at 26 years old I have difficulty paying attention to things for a long period of time. I even get bored watching TV. Even on the internet I'm going from one thing to the next very quickly. I was also very shy and hated raising my hand for anything.

As for the pledge, in elementary school and middle school we said it. In high school we all just stood up and put our hand over our hearts and looked bored. :p
You have no idea, I have ADD too. You learn to deal with it or be punished- I was punished a lot! But it taught me to respect adults, to shut my mouth and to act mature- It was a HUGE shock to then go to a different school afterwards where everyone was rude/talked back/etc to the teachers..

LOL I always use the trusty "L" for left. but at 27 it's kind of sad that I still need to do that from time to time lol. is there such a thing as MILD dyslexia? because I swear I have it lol... I actually wrote my name backwards until the third grade.

maybe i'm just special lol

Unless i had a health reason that required me to sit, i would stand up to show respect. IT is a minor thing and life is just too short to do otherwise.

sometimes lol.

Most of the time I don't wear it around the house and such because I am always putting lotions and creams on my hands to put on Hannah and sometimes poop is hard to clean out of a ring HAHAHAHAHA.

and I wash my hands a lot more often than i did before and I got a nasty rash underneath my rings because I apparently wasn't drying enough. and I don't want that rash to come back lol so I only wear my rings when we go out.

Ok, my power went out before I could finish so I may not retype my response to all the post.

Out of curiosity, why don't you stand?
Because I am tired in the morning and don't have the energy to stand. No matter how early I go to bed I still feel tired in the morning.

there may not be a rule saying you have to stand for the pledge...however there is probably a rule about following the directives of a person in authority. THAT is likely what got you sent out.
That is correct. But they do not have the authority to make my stand for the pledge if I don't want to. Even my orchestra teacher said that she can't make me but would like me to.

What.... In the hell is wrong with you kids?

Don't you have respect for anything anymore? I mean, other than your Xbox?

Grow up. Ya wanna be treated like and adult? ACT like one.
I do have respect for myself and my country I just don't see it in my mind how standing up during the pledge is disrespectful. I stand several times a day going to class to class and at work. Why don't you grow up and instead of degrading yourself to childless arguments and try to teach and lead the young?

If you make the decision NOT to follow the rules, then quit whining and take the consequences like a man.
I'm not whining, I'm ranting. I would have thought an adult would know the difference. ;)

*edit* Also, if the punishment was to send you out into the hall for 45 minutes, thats just ridiculous. Of what benefit is there to missing nearly an entire class? I know I'd sure love that kind of punishment for certain classes, lol.
:hail: There was no benefit, I missed the classwork for the day and she taught the class a new topic today and we got homework and now I don't know what to do for the homework.

I have no idea how open your teachers are (guessing not much), but maybe you could explain to them why you don't want to stand? I would think that any open-minded person would understand why you don't want to do it, if you have good reasons. But again... most are not.
I told her and all she said was that I need to stand outside during the pledge if I don't want to stand, so I will be doing that tomorrow.

You were completely rude, and I think that is extremely immature to talk back to your teacher, let alone refuse do something asked of you. Yeah, grow up.
Huh? Where did I ever say I talked back to my teacher. I was sitting down and looking at the assignment on the board and she ran up to me and yelled "If your not going to stand, get out!"

Amazing how you have all of that energy to play your Xbox.

That's a really sorry reason... I think it's time to pull up those big boy pants and stand up for all of 30 seconds. How strange that you can get yourself dressed and to school, but can't stand up for half a minute longer.

As they would say in Failblog... Excuse FAIL :lol-sign:

btw if you are going to bed at a decent hour and still feeling sleepy you should see your pediatrician...he can rule out apnea or night waking to ensure that your sleep is that productive REM type we all need. Young adults should be sleeping what 10 hours or more I think.

Whoa there... you can handle standing outside? Is the field of gravity different in the hallway or something? I thought that your lack of morning energy was why you couldn't stand to begin with?

Not attacking here, but I'm having a lot of trouble in reconciling these two thoughts. You are too tired to stand in the morning. I don't know what that's about, whether it's a medical condition or not, but taking you at your word, you lack the energy and strength to stand for what amounts to 10 seconds (15 to 20 at the most if it drags out). It would seem to take more energy and effort to get up, walk across the room and then stand in the hallway and then come back and sit. It seems to me that you'll be standing anyway, so why not just stay right there?

Are you prone to fainting or some other illness?--if not EVERYONE is generally tired in the morning. That doesn't give an excuse not to go to work or school or whatever. My husband gets up at 3am to go to work but it is required so he does it. Being tired is not an excuse. Also if you are too tired to stand how is getting up and standing outside in the hall going to take less energy?

Also it is disrespectful to not stand during the pledge--if you were to take a poll of average Americans the results I'm sure would be overwhelming that it is disrespectful--that's just the way it is.

Sometimes in the end it's not worth the trouble.

Dude, it's not worth it. If you want to rebel against the system, do something productive. Seriously.

And if you are too tired to stand up for a minute, lay off the chips and the Xbox, take your dog out for a walk and eat some vegetables.

from your posts... it still seems to me that this was nothing but an act of defiance.

You say you have to stand enough as it is walking from class to class. That exerts you? that's too much standing and walking in an entire day? If you really are too tired to stand for a few seconds and walking from class to class is a struggle for you then I really suggest you see a Dr about your fatigue. At your age walking from class to class and standing for even a half an hour at a time should NOT be an issue if you don't have a medical problem. Do you catch a bus? how do you get to the bus stop and stand there until it comes in the morning being that you are so tired?

So if you do in fact have a medical issue you really should get it checked out. If not... this is plain and simple defiance and nothing more.

Defiance was exactly what I got from this as well. He's just looking to start trouble and get attention, and then brag about how big of a rebel he is.
