I've been all the way under quite a few times...

Twice for tubes, once for yet another ear surgery, and once to have my adenoids removed.

Few times for local too, teeth removed, teeth worked on... was under local for my c-section as well, because I wanted to be awake to see Johnny when he was born. I'll NEVER do that again.

Had 2 surgeries and am awaiting my 3rd. Last year I underwent major surgery to have half of my pancreas removed. I was under for 6 hours. Before they put me under they gave me what my anesthesiologist called rum and cokes to relax me through my IV. They they gave me an epidural so the pain wouldn't be so bad when I woke up (13 inch incision from my chest down my abdomen). Then they put me under. One second I was awake and the next I was waking up doped up, so tired, and in a little pain. No side effects from the general, but they were giving me antinausea medication through my IV to prevent it. It's amazing how fast you actually fall asleep, you don't even have time to think that you are getting sleepy.

I have been completely "under" once for removal of a growth in my breast. I thought it was very weird and I hated it! He put whatever medication in the IV and said count backward from 100....I said, Oh that burns! He said, It won't for long! then he chuckled....then next thing I knew, I was waking up. But I woke up crying uncontrolably. I kept asking the nurse why I was crying. LOL She never really did answer me, so to this day, I don't know if it was an anesthesia inspired side effect, or just a release of emotion from having a tumor removed from my breast. Strange in any case....and I don't want to do it again.

I've been fully under twice in my life. The first was for my wisdom teeth, and the other was sinus surgery to fix my deviated septum. I had an anxiety medicine in my IV for the sinus surgery, and I remember falling asleep once they gave me the anethesia.

I had a bad experience with my wisdom teeth, and I expected to be really sick after my sinus surgery. It was the opposite, though... I had surgery in the morning and was home that afternoon. I felt pretty good, but I was pumped full of pain killers as well :D

I was under general when they pulled my wisdom teeth . . . they asked me to count backwards from 10 . . . I reached 4 a couple hours later when I woke up. I have totally no recollection of going out or waking up, though I did feel like I was drunk when I woke up. It was a very strange experience, over all.

Umm....let's see....I got tubes put in my ears when I was three, so I think they put me out for that. I got my tonsils out at 5, definitely put out for that. I had my wisdom teeth out at 18, which they also put me out for. Then, last Christmas I had my gall bladder removed at age 20. So, 4 times in the 21 years of my life, and I've never had any problems with it. Now IV's are a different story. I have very difficult veins apparently.
