of someone of another race??

I guess this is a pretty weird question, but after a long train of connected thoughts inspired by "Stuff White People Like", I realized I have never been to the home of someone of a different race. Well, I've been to asian people's homes...but never anyone black or latino. (Except for the time I rented a room from a peruvian couple....but never just to visit) And I think that's really very weird.

I'm pretty sure I've been to quite a few homes from every race :)

Miami is pretty diverse, I had friends of just about every race at school lol.. plus me and my mom travel a lot so I get to visit and see lots of people.

I don't think of any home/household as "normal" lol I think its because I was always thrown into lots of cultures as a kid (food, culture, homes, languages) sooo its not like there was this standard "normal home" and then once in a while something strange.

My best friends in school were muslim, hispanic and white. My moms best friend is asian. My aunt is married to a man from japan. We have lots of family in France. My uncles wife is Lebanese.
you get the idea lol

Here in Connecticut on the other hand, I've met quite a few people who tell me I'm the first Haitian person they've ever met, or that, haven't seen much culture besides the basic new england.

I have a filipino friend and an Indian friend whose houses I've been to. Both houses were the same as what I was used to except in the Indian girl's house instead of jesus they had the hindu elephant (name I don't know) on the walls/shelves. Their parents speak their native languages to each other and on the phone but all spoke english as well (their kids only speak english too). Main meals were different than what I'm used to but the house and furnishings were not except for maybe some decorations. That's it for me, I never thought about it before.

Ive been to several peoples houses who were Hispanic, or Guatemalan, as well as black people and Asian people. They were all pretty much the same except for food smells really.

Yah sure, they're pretty much like ours. My Mexican/hispanic/whatever term you prefer friend had the stereotypical religious stuff everywhere but other than that, no differences that I recall.

You betcha :) Especially when I lived in Arizona, I had good friends of all colors and were at their houses quite often. I LOVED going to one of my close hispanic friend's house because her mom ROCKED in the kitchen..........*drools* Oh the food and food smells, it makes my tummy growl just thinking of it, LOL

My best friend was white, but she was from Yugoslavia. Her family moved to NY when she was 5, then from NY to AZ when she was 12. I'd have to say spending time at her house was the most difference in all my friends regardless of skin color ;) Her mom was apparently a good cook as well, but I didn't care as much for their cuisine (or smells coming from it) as the mexican fare, LOL

I went to high school in an area that is largely Asian. I'd guess my high school was 80-85% Asian, and that's not over exaggerating one bit. There was also a large amount of Indian students. We were a very large HS and I can think of 10 white kids in our graduating class! I'm going to say there were maybe 12-15 because I'm sure I forgot a few.

Although my circle didn't reflect those percentages (I was closest with other French Immersion kids, who, like me, came from other areas as it was the only FI High School around), I still had quite a few close friends who were mainly Chinese or Persian.

When else would you drink milk? I lurve a big glass of milk with dinner :p

And I'm actually going to have to say no to the OP. Though it could be based on that a) I don't normally goto alot of places and b) around my town it's mainly white - I live in the trees!!!

Milk is seriously gross. And you're supposed to drink it with breakfast. In your cereal. If you're going to drink it at all.

It doesn't count, as its like adding a butter to a potato, then its just a condiment. And I have a glass of milk with breakfast, in addition to the milk in the bowl LOL

I was just going to comment that one of the weirdest combinations I'd ever seen was someone who drank milk with pizza :rofl1: Then there's Charley, who likes chocolate milk with a Reuben sandwich. *gags*

I almost always drink milk with dinner :D It's yummy!

I grew up in an area where the population is about half latino and half white, so I've been to the home of several latino families. And my sister is half black, so ya :p

I grew up in a very diverse area (so yes, to answer the question broadly) and my childhood babysitter is Malaysian. Only thing I ever considered "weird" at her house was the time I came in from school and there was a pig's head in the middle of the kitchen table. I also distinctly remember my first experience eating duck with her. It was delicious :)

Now that I'm in an area that has a predominantly caucasian population it's happened far less frequently than it did when I was younger, even up until High School.

Oh, and milk is the BEST with spicy foods.

I had a lot of Mexican friends in middle school. We had a lot of sleepovers. My favorite part was that it was always guaranteed an awesome dinner lol. I remember once we had some kind of rice milk drink or something...made from rice, cinnamon...I don't remember what it was called, but it was GOOD and I wish I knew what it was so I could make it.

I grew up in a city with a 59% immigrant population (that's not counting those who were born from immigrant parents). So yeah. I'd be either racist or a freak if I hadn't been to an East Asian person's home lol.

Soo I've been in East Asian people's homes and South Asian people's homes (lots of them here too). Andd an Indian South African's home. Never been to a black person's home, probably because we have hardly any here. Yupp.
