I'll let her fill you in, but this sweety has been continuing to show up at her house and wanting to see her boyfriend Hunter, spend the night at Grammy's, etc. etc. She is SOOOO cute and GOOD! Her owners don't seem to care when she's missing. She came over to play with her boyfriend, Hunter, tonight. Here's a kind of cut off pic of her, but you get the idea. She's half German Shepherd half Bull Mastiff. Mostly Mastiff as you can see!!!

Grammy LOVES HER! And if the "owners" keep acting so non-complacent, she might just keep her!!!! They know where Grammy lives and where their dog goes...

This is the one that came to me about a month ago, and I posted that I tried to find the owner and finially went in and she WAS micro chipped. Hunter was staying with me at the time and they really hit it off! Anyway, daughter finally picked her up , but two weeks later she came the mile again to my house ( across a busy highway ) and was at the front door daying " Hi, I'm back " I had lost their name and phone number, but remembered where she lived and took her home. Owner was out of town, but a worker was there, I gave him my name and phone number to give to the family so they could call me in case it happened again. Well, they never did and today she was back ! I refuse to take her back again. They know where I live, and have my name and number. EliN met her for the first time, and she was so happy to see Hunter again !!! She's such a sweet girl....she's been overnight here the 1st time and was happy....so Grammy's just going to sit tight . I have another Golden I should bring in to re-home too ! I can't afford 3 !!!

This girl sounds like she really needs your help. If she's crossing a busy highway to get to you her luck is bound to run out eventually.

I hope it works out so you can keep her. She is very pretty, and must feel at home with you.

That is a beautiful dog. If the previous owners let her run, then it is their loss.

Does she stay inside at night at your house?

If I were you, take the collar off, replace with my own, and wait and see what happens. If the previous owners decide within a week or two, that they will start taking responsibility then it would be out of your hands. But if they don't, then you should claim the dog as your own! Because I know she will have a better home with you, than with them (letting her run the streets etc.)

Where I live if you feed the cat/dog on your property for 5 days and give it shelter, then you are responsible for vaccinations etc. So here, 5 days and legally the animal is considered yours. I am sure this is easily disregarded if the original owners show interest in the dog though.

Keep us updated, The dog is just beautiful....
Julie.

Lord, Julie, she'll probably be in bed with me !! I keep my back door open all day and she's by me constantly ! She has the same collar on as she had on a months ago...just a grooming tag. I suggested they get a tag with their number the first time. She doesn't roam from here , and since she's chipped I won't change her collar, but I may put one of my spare " visitor" tags on which have my phone number . It's sooo sad !!

You should feel honored, Grammy. Neither German Shepherds nor Mastiffs give their trust and love lightly. You never know, she may have come to you because you're going to need her in some way, and you know she will protect you well, in ways that Chip can't, no matter how much he wants to. Mastiffs are also notorious for being "women's dogs." They tend to prefer us to men. Can't imagine why, lol! Maybe 'cause they're smart . . . :p

Any way you could contact the humane society and explain the problem? It's crazy that those people let their dog loose like that all the time :( But at the same time, you don't want to get in trouble because she still has the microchip at their name :(

Renee...I'm honored ! Yes, there could be a reason No, I won't take her to the HS...they'll just check her chip and call them. She did sleep with me all night...not much room for Grammy in her twin bed !! This morning she crawled up to my face..put both paws on my chest and gave me a huge kiss.......sigh !! I'll see what today brings.

Oh grammy, The owner info can be changed on the chips, not sure of the details though in this case. Maybe the owners will tell you to keep her and give you the transfer info. I am thinking happy thoughts. I agree with Renee she must be there for a reason. Mastiffs do love to give those hugs. They are so loving. She must have been very unhappy were she was before. Poor baby.

Fila... I was wondering about that. If/when they get in touch with me...I'll have a serious talk with them. Also, I don't have an inch to spare in my bedroom...she has a quilt on the floor...maybe she was just needed to cuddle last night.

I love cuddling with Sasha. She is so soft for a GSD.You wont need the quilt with a dog keeping you warm in bed lol.I hope you keep her.I think her owners dont really like having a dog if they dont care enough to take care of her properly, they dont deserve a dog.At least she is safe from getting hit by a car with you.
