I was wondering what fun tricks your dogs know.
I have taught Tynan how to sit, lie down, paw, stay and just recently taught him how to play dead. What trick should I teach him next? Give me some really fun ideas
Roll over is a good one, having them jump up on command, "beg" (sitting back on their hind legs with paws in the air)....wave, spin, speak, etc.
A really good one is to have them pick up an object you point to, you can do a ton of shaping with stuff like that. Teach him to put a sock in a laundry basket, fetch your shoes, etc.
Lucy knows "Touchdown" (standing up and throwing her paws in the air like the refs do), "stick 'em up" (sitting up, paws by her ears), and I'm working on teaching her to jump rope.

I think I put her in a sit and lured her up. She naturally lifted her paws off the ground a tiny bit, and I clicked for that. Then required her paws to get higher and higher. The tricky part is clicking before she stood up.
When luring, I made my fingers the gun shape so that she already recognized the signal.
It is pretty cute She'll randomly do it around the house to try to get treats
I taught my parents' English Cocker to play dead if you pointed your fingers at her in a gun shape and said Bang. Never thought about teaching 'stick 'em up' - would have been a nice progression!
Riley is learning to crawl (thinking of using 'slime' as the command word although 'politician' is running a close second... ). He's learning to walk backwards, too.

I was trying to teach that! Lucy's default behavior is a sit though, so it ended up being a but scoot backwards since i couldn't get her to stand for it. :wall:
Spin, dance, walk on their back legs, play dead, roll over, pick something up, paw something, crawl, walk backwards, go hide (i like that one, it's cute), hit a mark...
I taught Luna how to push a shopping cart.... she puts her feet on that bar down by your shins on the cart, and even though she's only 7 pounds she can make it move. I hadn't practiced it in about 3 years but I tried it again the other day and she hasn't forgotten.
