Thank you for all of your positive words & thoughts...

Fozzie does not have a blockage, per se, it's just a buildup of lots of little bone pieces and blood in his intestines. I am so glad that they don't have to operate. He's staying at the vet on an IV and getting lots of medication. They tested him for pancreatitis and it's definitely not that. I didn't want to leave him at the vet but I felt I had to... after the experience with Gonzo, I will never again assume that gastro problems will just get better on their own. Until now, Fozzie seemed to be the dog with the iron stomach but I'll never make that assumption again either. I miss him so much. He's such a constant source of happiness and cuddles and the house is very empty without him. He was super lethargic and sad, but he gave me a kiss, which he never does. :(

Ironically, Fozzie was given the same crappy diagnosis as Gonzo. Hemorrhaging Gastroenteritis. For two very different reasons, but it's still like salt in my wounds. Fozzie is nowhere near as sick as Gonzo was. I'm hoping to pick him up tomorrow.

I so appreciate you all thinking of Fozz. He's not better yet, but I feel like he'll be ok. I feel so terribly guilty for giving him that bone.... I can't stop regretting it. I hate myself right now. Not just because it was a $800 bone; but because I put my boy through so much pain just because I wanted that little speck of tartar on one of his canines to go away. Just a reminder: SAY NO TO WEIGHT BARING BONES! I can't get over this guilt.

Gonzo has crossed my mind a lot lately for some reason... how is he doing?
Aww... that's sweet of you. Gonzo is doing much better. I brought him to work the other day and put him in small dog daycamp and he was happier than I've seen him in a while. People watching thought he was a puppy. :) He's still gradually recovering. He is still pretty skinny, despite getting 4 cups of Honest Kitchen and 2 cups of meat every day. He misses his bro. He is so sensitive to anyone getting sick and it really worries him.

Now. Stop with the guilt. Don't make me kick your butt ;) You never know; some dogs are just fine with anything, and sometimes something weird happens.

Glad to hear he's ok!! I hope he can come home today and you don't have to worry about anything for a good long while.

Poor guy! I'm so glad it's not a blockage.
If you get a tooth scaler you might be able to scrape that last bit of tartar off his teeth with it!

Oh whew! I'm so glad he's okay. Yeah, don't dwell in the house of guilt. Chuli, years ago had bloody diarrhea and vomiting after a pig's ear. Those things can scratch them up inside. Needless to say, I never gave her one of those again. But I felt guilty too for a bit. I was thinking of trying that Petzlife stuff that is suppose to work to get the tarter off their teeth. I don't know what it is, but some dogs do seem to have trouble with bones. I guess if they're not use to them or don't chew them well enough, they can have trouble. My Chihuahuas had messy poo after eating chicken wings, which of course, aren't weight bearing. But no blood or blockages.

Anyhow, glad he's going to be okay.

Oh, vibes for all if you! Archie had that last year at this time (hemorragic gastroenteritis) and it was horrible! That happened to him a day or two after eating a smoked ham bone. He got so sick while waiting for the vet that he vomited, and then collapsed into it. He later "pooped" a ton of blood.

It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen! I thought the worst, but a few days at the vet and he recovered just fine. At 13 years old, no less.

Praying for a fast recovery for Fozz!

Feel better soon, Fozz butt.

Erica, honestly I have never ever had good luck with pork bones and ANY dog. My dogs always got some loose stool and upset tummies from the pork necks/ribs I would offer them. :(

Fozzie's home! :)

He's doing sooo much better. He came home and immediately went to the counter and danced around, begging me to play laser chase with him. He hasn't eaten yet, but hopefully he'll do well on a bland diet. The Vets all hugged him goodbye and said he was the best patient ever. He's on like 5 medications which will be fun to give him! (one of which has to be crushed, mixed with water and syringed into his mouth...) I'm sure he's made a miraculous recovery due to all of the amazing Chaz vibes. <3

The weird thing is, Fozzie has eaten ALL kinds of pork bones, his whole life, and he does super well on them. He's had feet, hocks, ribs, necks, shoulders and shanks and even a pig head once! Never even an upset tummy. It was just that the little pieces of bone had not been broken down, they were just ripping up his intestines. I stopped feeding all beef bones after I noticed Gonzo swallowed a piece of rib and pooped it out intact. I cannot handle feeding bones that could possible be indigestible ever again. I probably won't feed raw bones for a while... I'll just stick to bully sticks and Greenies, and pay 5 times more. No raw bone is worth that much money and pain, as much as I love them and recognize how good they are for dogs. I'm sticking to pre-made and super soft bones that are covered in meat from now on.

I'm so happy to hear that Gonzo is doing better. I was so worried while reading your thread about him :(

Lots of (((((((((((((((((VIBES)))))))))))))) sent Fozzie's way. I hope he feels better soon!
