Just thought I would throw this in here...

Thats not a pit, he is an american staffordshire bull terrier, which is a different breed. But the two breeds are related.

Correct me if I am wrong amstaffer.
Sal looks to me like he's either an APBT or an American Staffordshire Terrier. Not a Staffy Bull.

I like big dogs so I would tend to stay away from smaller dogs (that weigh like 10 or less pounds). I can't name breeds though I don't want to upset anyone.

Luckily we fill in all the breeds here so all dogs are loved !!! At my age, I just need a great fuzzy who wants me to do my best and keep living !! I don't feel a toy would do that. It will be interesting what will find me when Chip is gone. Bubba will send me the right one ! " My Angels Wear Fur " !!

When I meet a dog I decide whether I like it or not based on it's personality, not breed or looks.
However there are certain breeds that I don't ever want to own (the list is too long so I'll just name the top 5).

These are...
Labrador
Golden Retriever
Border Collie
Australian Shepherd
American Cocker Spaniel

Dun think I will ever consider owning a Chi, Poodle, Pugs and any Giant breeds. No offence to any one but I find Chi Poodle and Pugs ugly :p And Giant breed, I can't afford to feed it and the energy to keep up with their exercise

The only dogs I would avoid would be ones that are not always so good with smaller, non-canine pets - greyhounds, border collies, terriers etc. Not because of the dogs themselves, but just because of our lifestyle and requirements from a companion. It's not fair to get a dog that doesn't suit you.

Also, I would probably never get a Rottweiler. I know this is just plain prejudicial, but a Rottie chased me up the street barking and growling when I was a little kid, and then I had another HUGE one lunge to attack me when I was about 17, and they just scare me. I've met many wonderful Rotties and I know they are just gorgeous dogs, but I wouldn't own one because like I said, they just scare me, and you don't want a dog who's going to scare you just because it's a Rottweiler - it doesn't make for a good partnership!

I would not own a dog I'm very allergic to. Luckyly, I'm not very allergic to Yoshi my Shih Tzu. I guess that pretty much prevents me from having most dog breeds. Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have them.

Also, I like a dog that can be quiet, and I know barking is partly education, but a breed line that barks too much would really get on my nerves. Luckyly, Yoshi never barks when it's not necessary. Unfortunatly, this doesn't include mornings hehehe.

lol, he looks like a lot of the pitts around here, so I kinda assumed. Sorry. Still beautiful! :D

There was a BYB trying to get my vet to sign-off his pitt pups as staffs so he could ship them by plane. Believe the nerve? He wouldn't do it without registration papers - which of course the guy didn't have.
Pit bulls can take on any looks, due to so many bad breeders.

That guy is a moron, lol.

Yes, his dogs are american staffordshire terriers. I accidently slipped in a bull in there, lol. There is no such thing as an american staffordshire bull terrier.

I'm mostly attracted to breeds that can keep up with me (I'm a runner, and I like to have a dog that will make a good running buddy as well). That being said, I used to think I would *never* own a toy breed.

However- I recently met some beautiful Japanese Chins at a good friend's house- and fell in love with their personalities. While they're very cuddly (a good deal different than my Shibas!) they by no means feel they are small dogs- and I like that sort of attitude. They also have an adorable way of "talking" to you with little "woo-woo-woos." It's pretty hard for me *not* to eventually want one of these guys now.

Guess it just goes to show me- never say never!

I'm a big toy breed fan :D -They ROCK-
I can tell that most people who posted here are not so fond of them, but they are my number one, especially maltese. I never thought that I would fall in love with them until I got my Snowy as a gift :D best thing that ever happened to me :D he has a great personality.

the breeds that I don't like to own are:

bulldogs, bullterriers, rottweilers, dobermans, pitbulls, boxers and basset hounds.

Ain't it grand that we have such a great selection of breeds. Out of all the possible choices there is one or two out there that suits anyone’s lifestyle. I know that my preference of breed is not one of the most popular ones out there. Maybe this is the reason we see so many doodles out there due to people who have a misconception of the breed as being too froo froo and couldn't imagine themselves with one so they need to create a mix of one. I for one am proud to know the poodle for what they are and not for how they look. I'm not offended that many don't care for the breed, all the more for me to love. :p

As for breeds I don't like humm.... don't think there's any that I don't like but I know of many that I wouldn't get because I know that they wouldn't fit my lifestyle/personality and both the dog and I would be miserable. Any breed of dog that needs a firm and dominant character in an owner wouldn't work out with me at all. I'm too much of a pushover for those breeds. I need a breed that is forgiving and easygoing.

Well..

I don't think I would diregard any breed that came to me.

I am a fan of mixes and mongrels to be honest. And I would definately hesitate to own a dog with inbred health problems.

I feel sorry for dogs that can't breath/walk etc and I don't think I could own one..

But, a dog's a dog and who knows who might cross my path in the future!

my hubby just asked me what I would choose if we got another dog...what other breeds do I love. I really thought about it, but finally just said that I would only ever get another GSD. that's not to say I don't love mixes..little Addie is adorable!!!!!!!!! but he was asking about specific breeds. I don't see myself with a toy breed...I'd probably step on it, or lose it. lol :) I'm not someone that could deal with drooling....but sure love the bigger pups!

I'd never want to own a toy breed as they wouldn't fit in with my life style. I love to walk and ride in the country and a toy dog wouldn't keep up. As a result I definately have another golden, Casey loves to go on holiday to Scotland with me and explore the country. In a few weeks we are going to Scotland again and she's coming along as I know she has the stamina for it and loves it. As well as a pack of Goldens I would also love to own a Leonberger, Dobe and anything from a Golden upwards. Oh and I've always fancied a Border collie or Australian cattle dog. I'd take in any dog really, mutt or purebreed, big or small, I just prefer larger dogs.

I would say toy breeds, but only because they would be able to fit in the cat-specific areas and it would be a no no :D

There are some breeds I just really don't like the looks of and I would probably never consider though, but I won't post them because I don't want to upset anyone :p
