I would never own any small breed dogs. I just like to have big dogs because there is so much more of them to love. lol

lol, tessa!
Personally I don't like small dogs, although I've known a few that were sweet. If I had to pick a breed...I'd say schipperke, only because I've known two and they both tried to take my head off.

Hey I don't put down dogs other that Goldens !!! A really love all BIG dogs... but depends on the breeding and temperment. That's why I've stuck with goldens for over 50 years. I'm sorry for those of you who have had bad experiences with Goldens and don't like them. I love the gentle giants of this world....whether mutts or pure breds.
The only breed of dog I've ever been bitten by (that was serious = blood and probably needed stiches but I hate Dr.s so I didn't go) was a Golden :( badly bred and poorly owned... but I still love ALL breeds. I won't say which breeds I don't think I'll ever own because that'll end up being the next dog on my doorstep  lol

You like them a bit rough do ya? :D

If you want a brave, full of himself dog, the Schipp is definitely for you! ;)

Hehe! Everyone says they wouldn't have a toy breed(I wouldn't have most of them either, though there are a few I'd consider), but I wouldn't have a giant breed(such as Great Dane, Mastiff, St Bernard)! Lol

The only kinds of dogs I can think of that I wouldn't want would be large dogs (because they don't live long enough) and unhealthy breeds. I just want a dog that fits my lifestyle and will live and be healthy a long time. Also, why do so many people here not like poodles? They're great dogs.

I started to make a list for this interesting question but it made me really start to think.

On first thought I was going to say any thing real furry, I like dogs with real short hair. I then thought I am truly blessed to share my home and life with any dog. One day I will be too old to live independently and will have to be in a home....I will be very happy to have an Old English Sheepdog or Puli at that time in my life.

I dont think i'd own anything outside of the herding/working group.

I dont like terriers or hounds - to high strung, and to much drive on something that I didn't train them in lol If I was a hunter or something though.. lol

I'm not fond of toy breeds either - they are just too tiny. I grew up with Shelties.. they are as tiny as I'd go..

I dont like the non-sporting group - I want a dog that was bred for a specific type of work that i could show/train them in.

Anything under 50lbs. My grandma has a 3lb chi and I get so scared that I might step on him and kill him, I can't deal with that constant worrying about where my feet are.
Heh, I've a saying, 'Any dog that weighs less than 30lbs is just a cat that barks.' ;)

I guess I'd never own a lab, or a toy poodle. No pulis, or komondors, or Bergamascos for me either!

i don't think i'd go for big dogs. kind of afraid of them. perhaps because i'm small size haha. once someone's golden retriever jumped on me and knocked me over.

looks like majority here don't like terriers / toy group :( confession here. i own a terrier. cute as it may be, i would have to admit i might have made a wrong choice

They don't if they're taken care of properly. :(
I have met many hounds, and they do have a houndy smell to them. To get rid of it, you would have to wash them every day, which isnt healthy.

Probably will never own a terrier (especially a JRT or WHFT) or a hound. GSD's are out, most of the toy/companion group is out (with possibly the exception of the Cavalier), any dog that requires excessive grooming (Pulis, Afghans, etc).

I like my herding/working group. :)

But who knows? Something in a shelter could just 'click'. I just won't ever actively seek those dogs out.

I know this is off-topic, but Amstaffer, your pic of Saladin is gorgeous! I've never seen a more beautiful pitt! :p
Just thought I would throw this in here...

Thats not a pit, he is an american staffordshire bull terrier, which is a different breed. But the two breeds are related.

Correct me if I am wrong amstaffer.

lol, he looks like a lot of the pitts around here, so I kinda assumed. Sorry. Still beautiful! :D

There was a BYB trying to get my vet to sign-off his pitt pups as staffs so he could ship them by plane. Believe the nerve? He wouldn't do it without registration papers - which of course the guy didn't have.
