Words cannot describe how much I hate living in the Phoenix area. The biggest problem is that it can get 120F in the summer here. I once saw my car's temp show 125F. That is just awful. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I'll take the polar vortex winter ANY DAY over the summers we have here. I haaaaaate it.

I also hate the big city. Technically I'm in the suburbs, but I really hate it. The air quality sucks, the traffic sucks, and you can hear your neighbors sneeze. I am definitely a small town girl, but within reason. I don't want to live in such a small town that I have to drive 45 mins just to get to a grocery store.

There's a chance that I will get to move back to Flagstaff, AZ this fall for work. Flagstaff is the only place in AZ I can handle. Nice cold winters, warm but not awful summers. Beautiful forest. However, if that doesn't pan out, I'm planning on moving the hell away from the southwest next year.

I live in Toronto too! But I don't like it. I love my house and my general area (close to the beach), but otherwise I hate the public transit system, I hate the traffic, I hate the expense of everything. The convenience of living in the city is nice, but otherwise, bleh. So many rude, thoughtless jerks here.
Neighbours! Except I'm in the west end. :p And I'm reminded every day that yes, the TTC sucks.

While I would like other places more, even in the same general area just a bit more remote, the truth is that while there are a lot of things I'd love to change about where I live, I can be happy here. It may not be everything I want, but it has what I need and that'll do.

Do you like where you're currently living? Do you like your town/city? The general area? Is it the same place you grew up or far away?

If you don't like it, where would you rather live?
Yes. Love the state and the general area, love my house, loathe my neighborhood. It's gone from a nice area to kind of run down. However, a garage, driveway, yard, and house for 1/3 what I was paying for a 1br in VA is perfect.

It's a beautiful state with tons of opportunities for recreation and work. The climate is great. Super dog-friendly.

I grew up south of Chicago, couple hours west of Indy. Definitely far from the Memphis area, in location and style.

I hate this area. I hate the towns (Olive Branch, Southaven, Hernando, Horn Lake, etc) and the city itself - Memphis. It's gross, overgrown, the cost of living is ridiculously high for an extremely LOW standard of living. The poverty rate is out the window. The weather sucks. The people suck. The good ol' boy system is still in use. The mentality of the people on liberals/freedoms suck. Racism, sexism, discrimination of all kinds, theft, entitlement, it all exists in spades. There's no real job opportunities. You can't go anywhere without a SERIOUS fear of getting shot or mugged. Not Beale, not the Zoo, no where. Go to Graceland and you'll see drug deals. It's just a terrible area.

I want to move to Colorado. Plans are for Spring/Summer 2015!

I love St. Louis as a whole. Missouri itself, eh, not really. Its beautiful but not really my cup of tea in many ways. But St. Louis, while there are areas of the city/county I wish that werent, and there are some big issues...I love it. So may wonderful opportunities and activities are here. Always a ton of stuff to do or see but also a laid back atmosphere.

Never seriously considered moving somewhere else but I think I'd enjoy living in the suburbs outside the city in a lot of Midwestern states. Sounds like it would be similar in most aspects I care about with a lower cost of living, less traffic, and more dog events.

I'm not likely to uproot my life anytime soon with a relocation but could easily see myself happy in many places. I'm not too picky really.

I absolutely LOVE Cape Breton! I hate our winters.
What do you like about it? I don't really have any experience with that part of Canada, but my husband has been pushing for a trip to PEI or Nova Scotia at some point.
I....
I actually thought Cape Breton was in Africa. Why did I think that? I always looked at Penny pictures like awww, there is that African vizsla! Africa is so pretty! :rofl1:

Okay, my mind is blown. And I feel dumb admitting this. :rofl1:

I live in the same town as Southpaw and Lauren! I do like where I live for the reasons they stated! I like the city more than I thought I would, that's for sure. I am still looking for that deserted field to let the dogs run in, though.

I grew up about an hour and a half northwest. I love my home but it is so far away from everyone and everything!

I definitely want to live outside of the twin cities but I could be content even closer than I am now. I'd love acreage, really, really, really love it.

No. At least once a week I talk about moving and our "5 year plan".

Indianapolis is boring. There's basically 0 public transportation, everything is so sprawled out. It's not exciting, no diversity, just blah. The weather sucks.

The low cost of living is a perk and that's the only good for me.
Whenever I go down to see my dad I get this weird clostiphobic feeling if I'm down there too long-it's strange. I actually have 2 cousins, 4 aunts, 2 uncles and my dad in that area (Muncie, Yorktown, Carmel, Castleton, and Noblesville). I do enjoy St. Elmo's and the fact that there is a store entirely devoted to pet birds in Castleton--lol.

It would be fun to get together some time when I'm down visiting.

You're probably thinking of Cape Town, SA. I used to get an Africa twinge every time I read the name too. :D

The townhouse I live in is nice. I live with my mom and started itching to move back out on my own a year or so ago. Then, in November, my older brother moved in with us. This place is not nearly big enough for 3 people so I'm *really* ready to get out now.

I LOVE Colorado. I don't love Aurora, but I don't hate it, either. I live in a somewhat nicer part than I used to, and even before I didn't have any problems. I probably won't stay here, but that's more of a logistics thing. My new job is in Littleton and I'm tired of commuting, so I'm hoping to find a place closer. I really enjoy the Denver metro area in general.

I was born here (well, Castle Rock) but I grew up near Dallas. Texas is NOT for me. It was mostly the weather. I can't handle any kind of heat and the humidity made it that much worse. Not big on the people either tbh but I was young so I didn't get to really pick my own social circles to hang out in. I moved back to Colorado the first chance I got, when I was 15.

I live in Vancouver and have for the last 14 years.

I for the most part love it here, there's lots of amazing beaches, mountains, hikes, trails, restaurants, bars, clubs, everything anyone could want. It's easy to venture to the states, it's easy to go somewhere pretty remote to camp, it's a good location I think.

The downside is it rains at least 6 months out of every year here, almost continuously. Also I miss the rush and more intense life of London or NYC.

Overall though, I love it here. I also love London, UK where I used to live though. The vibe is just so different, there's galleries and museums and just a few blocks down the street I can look at architecture from 500 years ago. I can't really explain the different well but London has a sense of nostalgia and magic that Vancouver doesn't have. Maybe Vancouver is too young a city, I don't know.

Great lakes, great times.

Other than winter, sure. I like that we have a fairly large city packed in a small town feel. I meet a lot of people who say we're so nice in Kalamazoo. I have an awesome job, the summers rule, and we just pretend winters don't exist. The local rescue scene sucks, and I'd love to move to Texas, but I have no qualms with being in Michigan a few more years.

And beer. All the best beers.

I love it here! I live in Mainz, Germany which is a small city in the Frankfurt area. :)
We live on the "outskirts" of the city, but it only takes me about 15 minutes via bike to get the center. It also only takes me about 15-20 minutes via bike to get out of the city and be in wine country. :p

So I get this:

and this:

with in very close distance. :p

We also live in a typical German town like this:

Its pretty close together, but all the houses have large gardens and yards towards the back :) I'm also in the fields in about 2 minutes. Everything is pretty tight, but I have my supermarket, my bank, my pharmacy etc. within 5 minutes walking distance, as well as about 5 different bus and tram connection. ;)

I am far away from where I was born, I have moved around the country a fair bit in the interim.

I currently love the town I live in. I live on the "Sunshine Coast" which is a stretch along the eastern coast about 100km X 40km. I have lived in seevral towns on the coast in the 6 years I've lived here but where I live now I am so comfortable.

I've been here about 4 years, it's almost a village. A baker, butcher, takeaway, a few cafe's, a pub, a train station, a small grocer and lots of sub-development hidden outside town as the place expands.
I love the sense of community here, working at the pub for 4 years helped. But I love that every time I go into town I run into someone I know. I love the feeling of belonging I have here that I haven't had since I moved away from the NT.
Perhaps, come end of year I will move to a different town/suburb about 30 minutes north. I don't really want to leave but we'll see if it works out with work.

But as for the state I live in. Hate. It's constrictive and bossy. Pet laws are crap. BSL. Ban on rabbits, ferrets etc.
You should google "VLAD LAWS QLD" for fun. The government is trying to drive out the bikies by creating a bunch of ridiculous and discriminatory laws. It's disgusting.
But for the job I have with the people I am working for, it's well and truly worth staying.

But... if I was a beach person, I'd love it. This is 20 minutes from my house.

Mrose, I'm moving in with you. You can't stop me. Get ready for some koolies!

As far as where I live now, I really truly do love Minnesota. Except in the winter. Every single winter, I get a strong urge to move. Then spring and summer rolls around and I fall in love with my state again. I live in the same city I grew up in and while it's decent enough with plenty to do, easy commute to activities and friends, I can't stand neighbors anymore. So the husband and I are planning a move further out (or to a completely different state pending a certain audition).

What I love about the Twin Cities in general? Everything. I can drive a half hour south and be in the heart of the city, or 15 minutes north and be on hundreds of empty acres to hike. Every single dog event is within 45 minutes of me and there is always something going on every single weekend. We get big trainers in for seminars and big bands in for concerts. I can drive 2 miles from my house and jump my dogs off of a dock in the summer or 10 miles and snowshoe for miles in the winter. So ya, I love my state.
